What I'm doing in this thread: I'm trying to map out how my game will work. I think mapping it out will help me make the map quicker and more effective. Also to hear comments from you guys. It's been inspired by several sources like the film, Moon, the documentary, Aftermath: World Without Oil and the game, Tropico.
YEAR: 2070
The world is running out of oil. H3 is the only resource that will save mankind from its largest economical crash. This powerful energy source is not abundant in Earth. But in Earth's colonized moon, it is. United Nations sends out several oil companies to mine the H3. You are one of the several oil companies that will fuel the Earth again for thousands of years.
Resources:
Minerals = Crude H3
Vespene = Refined H3
Custom Resource = Money (Can be reduced by inflation)
Current Supply = Workers
Maximum Supply = Free Workers
Crude H3 is mined from minerals. These minerals are hidden until a Mining Station is built nearby. SCVs will mine it and drop it off to the Mining Station. Transport Trucks can retrieve the minerals and send it off to a Refinery. This turns an amount of Crude H3 to Refined H3. This could be sold to Moon Colonies or exported to Earth using a Space Dock.
Crude H3 is constant.
Refined H3 has two properties:
Quality -> Determines the effectiveness. Could be improved by Refining Strategy.
Demand -> Determines the desirability. More desirability means more will purchase. Could be improved by Marketing Strategy.
Money is multiplied by currency. Currency is affected by the Moon's economy. The Moon's economy is affected by the supply and quantity of H3.
Workers are used up by buildings and units. Workers can be increased by ways:
Increasing population.
Investing on better education in a specific Moon Colony.
Population can increase by reproduction and attracting immigrants.
As Moon Colonies grow, the population can increase. They can only grow from improving economy and investing urban development.
Okay, that's all for now. So far I'm wondering how to make this a competitive game. How one is determined a winner.
