I'm working on a new map. The tileset is based over Agria
I'm in need of help.. simply because I'm not the best at map making.
So to start, the map I'm creating starts as this:
You and other players, if there are other players, and soldiers are flying into the orbit of Inzarka, a jungle-like planet far in the galaxy Andromeda. (M31)
As you enter the atmosphere of Inzarka, the captain begins to speak of a base camp already setup by robots to ready us players to explore the planet.
The cruiser begins to fly around to get to the base camp setup and the camera is locked on this cruiser at an RPG like angle so players get a clear view of the terrain, with a mountain region concealing up the base. Something goes horribly wrong though. The cruiser crashes into some radioactive pit near a river stream, and the only survivors are the players in game and a scientist. You arrive at the base camp and the scientist explains that we are actually here to determine what the radioactive pit is, and how it got here or what is causing it, and to see if any wildlife has been affected by it. You later find out that the radioactive pit was caused by an asteroid from the planet Char that crashed into Inzarka, with bacterial essence of Zerg matter. The next thing you know, the dead soldiers rise from the dead and violently morph into infested terrans and run off into the distance, which isn't a good sign...
You have now sent in radio transmission to your home planet that you are in dire need of reinforcements because a plague of Zerg have sprouted. These reinforcements will arrive as soon as possible, but first you must maintain a base camp and keep defenses strong and your offenses almost as great, or even greater. Once these reinforcements arrive, you may start to create barracks and other structures to create units to help defend. Meanwhile, the new hives are in formation and stronger units will begin to flow towards your base. Whenever you think you have enough troops to destroy multiple hives, each with their own hive leader, or multiple leaders, you can send out and try and raise hell, while having hell raised upon you and your allies. These bases will be extremely difficult to take down. Leaving your base also leaves you vulnerable, so you should keep a viable defense while leaving. Upgrades are also available for units and your main soldier. Once all hives are destroyed, a cinematic will cut in, describing that the infection may not infact.. be over. Scanners show massive fleets of Zerg on their march from underground. You must now defend.. your last stand, as your home planet base tries to beam you and your allies back home, away from Inzarka. Once you survive long enough for the base to construct the portal, they will get your coordinates, and proceed to get you out before it's to late. Thus ending the game in victory. On the otherhand, if you can't survive, obviously.. you lose.
Any ideas to help? I need help making this map as well, like I said above.
A survival mission. Cool idea. Here's my suggestions:
Let each player (i suggest 6-8 players) pick one of these soldier classes: Ghost, Marine, Marauder, Medic, Firebat, Spectre, Heavy Gunner (Tychus-like), Commander (not very strong in combat, but has many army bonuses).
Resource system:
Minerals are gained as a bounty for killing enemy units, and a large amount is gained every time you succesfully escort a miner colony to a nearby radiated mineral field (due to radiation, the minerals have turned gold :P)
Vespene gas: There are some Vespene geysers spread over the map (about 4). One of them is in your base. All Geysers automatically give a small amount of vespene income, but the resources need to be collected by players (still spread evenly). If you lose a Refinery, you need to rebuild it for a cost in minerals.
Radioactive Biomass: The Jungle landscape has a lot of biomass that got radioactive when the comet from Char fell. This biomass can be picked up (much like mineral and gas pick-ups in campaign), and collected from killed elite units/bosses. All Radioactive biomass is gathered by the Scientist (maybe even a soldier class on its own), and can be used to research special upgrades.
A Protoss Colony has picked up the signs too, but they are not interested in helping the poor Terrans ( :( ). Instead, they start a research colony on the planet to gather the biomass for their own research. The soldiers can choose to become friends with them, by giving them the biomass they need, as a reward, they will help kill the Hives, or the soldiers can be enemies with them, making them hostile, but able to be destroyed, with all resources stored with them given to the Terrans. (this adds another strategic part of the game.)
I could give more ideas later, but this is all for now.
Good luck!
Some good ideas. I'll try my best to learn how to do all this properly.. since I'm still not the best.
Thanks for the ideas though. I lack a bit of motivation, but I'll find it come around to me to work as hard as I can. I'll get to this though right away.

OK. People who want to help you make this project will probably get here soon :)
