So though we did have a new, fresh build, ready to go on Friday evening, we decided to not release the PTR right before a weekend. We don't want to discover issues and then everyone is out of the office and is not able to start working on fixes. We're targeting early next week for the release.
Not that it has stopped you guys from digging into the assets already. ;)
Basically, each of terrain texture in SC2 is just one single large texture.
While in war3 they are randomly constructed by lots smaller picture.
You can still manually patchwork the smaller one of war3 into a large one and put them into your map, just that would take some effort to adjust the normal map and the brightness.
wait, how did you fix the brightness on your terrain? mine is so dark :(
Try to edit map's light. You can, for example, increase diffuse multiplier for terrain, also play with colorization and saturation, also you can define colors and directions of three sources of light. Just play with every parameter. It's possible to make sc2 look quite like wc1 in terms of specturm.
The art mod contains the models for the respective races console.
So racist! So, if I'm black, I can't use elven console? Those blizzards motherfuckers got big motherfucking problems! Just need to finish my watermelon, smoke a joint and read a rap song!
Very interesting. I am actually thinking about porting my WC3 mod "Warcraft 2.5" to the sc2 engine. It is not possible to create naval battles in the sc2 engine yet is it?
He is referring that there is race type of object in sc2 data with different interface options included, but as it was before it is just unused type or placeholder for future
He's referring to the fact that created races cannot be selected in lobby.
It's why I asked how renee changed her console models, because even though the models are included it's a pain to switch the console model, due to blizzard and what we mapmakers are allowed to use in the UI editor.

All those colorisatiom and stuff are some field in data editor right ?
This week I have not been able to concentrate on my currents projects do to this WC3 mod and what it could mean for all of us. This business of bringing or importing and making the old favorites to SC2 is really exiting and is crazy times we live in. I can see the influx of games coming out this year and i can tell is going to be massive. Maybe we need a New Forum just for this topic alone. This is graving the main page since it came out all is about WC3. Good luck to all and really looking forward this massive overhaul .
At last, finally, they are here!!

"Hell it's about god damn time"
being available on the ptr doesnt mean released (at least not for me)

I asked that question and they said the textures are technically too different to work in the sc2 editor.

How did you set the console model?
Still alive and kicking, just busy.
My guide to the trigger editor (still a work in progress)
In the data mod, there is a UI override. The art mod contains the models for the respective races console. The data mod also includes the race data.

Did they fix the issues regarding adding new races? That'd be a pretty sore point if we can only reskin the 3 existing races.

What issue exactly are you referring to?

Its actuelly simple to transfer terrain in sc2. I just try to figure out something about map lights and will post a tutorial
@egodbout: Go
Press shift + ctrl + F10, edit map's light.
For example, I just edited Agria's light, so it looks like a fantasy world instead of depressing reality:
p.s. wow, this post ended up looking like weed smoking propaganda
