Specifically, I want to make a terran based faction of custom units; with the premise that instead of building your army on site, your army is pre-built and deployed onto the battlefield. So, given a supply cap of 64 supply worth of ground units (not counting SCV's) and 32 supply worth of air units (none of which can be battlecruisers), what would you want?
The concept I'm trying to implement is that you have one or two battlecruisers that you deploy units from, rather than building them at a factory or something. (and deploying a battlecruiser from a battlecruiser is just absurd) You can only replace units, you cannot build more of any unit than what you started with initially. So if you only have 4 siege tanks, you can only ever have a maximum of four siege tanks at any time.
So what would you want?
Should this become a campaign, you could expand your forces after every mission, and get extra forces as a reward for successfully completing bonus objectives. I'll need help with the plot, unit balance, and map making; I just thought this might be a fun concept to try and implement. I'm finding that making custom units and abilities is a lot more fun to me than building and terraining maps; suggestions, and ideas are welcome.
No promises on the timeline, I only started playing with the editor quite recently. I'll post this as an actual project once I've got something that sort of resembles a functional map.
Definitely need a lotta marines and medics to heal them. Probably some siege tanks and goliaths. Some vikings would be good for AA. What do you need SCVs for if you can't build a base that produces new units?
Also a few hero units could be cool. Maybe there could be like 3 available, but only once could be deployed at a time, or per mission.
If it is open to all units found in the editor.. then depeneding on the value you give to them, I would want 2 predators, 3 warbots, An Odin mk2, the rest of the numbers in nova type goliaths. As for the air 2 nova type Raven 2s, 3 sci ships, one cruiser (I.E the pirate cruiser) and the rest in wraiths. If you can do it maybe let the player select the units before the map starts. I have seen that in the map I am trying to bring an updated version of out. In that map you got 4 choices Bio, Mech, SCV, and Mix.
Also if I said SCV would you let it build any defense buildings like bunkers or turrets. There is a unit in the editor call the Kel-mon Worker or something close to that. And they can only build a few def type buildings. Also there is a unit call the drone operator that can be found that is another unit that would be fun to use. Just depends on what dependences you load in. I got a map where I am working on a tech tree and set up for all the units found for terran right now. You may wish to do something like that, that just has the units mixes you wish to look at or just to hunt for all the units.

Hmm ... I'd go with 12 marines, 8 medics, 4 goliaths, 2 tanks and 6 scv.
For air, 2 science vesel, 2 medivac, and the rest reserved for valkyries.
And also, might consider adding 2 heroic units to lead them.
Consider checking out Noir: Automata - Wrath of the Tal'darim, it use the same concept.
