I'm assuming everyone here has played worms at some point? :P I've tried making a map, tried utilising the changling as the 'worm' and added a few abilities to it but in reality I couldn't even add the nuke and would have no idea on how to set up the triggers (zero experience in map making).
So basically the idea is to have a turn based game, one team verses the other, up to 5 or 6 aside, each team having the same abilities with the aim of killing off each 'worm.'
Not sure how projectiles work in SC2 (can factors like gravity and wind be added?), here is a clip of worms gameplay:
Not to be the guy that runs up to you and punches you in the face, but here are a few things I have to say about that.
1) If I'm not mistaken, Worms is free.
2) There are many different guns in Worms and to get all of the models and attach them would be a pain.
3) Worms is a physics turn based 2D game. Starcraft is a real time strategy 3D game. The engines are totally different. Gravity and wind would be a pain to simulate.
4) I never like to use "utilize". Whenever you use utilize, there is always a better replacement; most of the time it is "use".
Aside from that, I'm sure you could make a game if you tried reeeeeealy hard, but I'm not sure anyone would play. If you did, I would applaud you, but if I ever wanted to play Worms, I would play real Worms.
Good luck in all of the things you do in the future (I say this because I feel bad about figuratively punching you in the face).
I actually had this idea a long time ago but stopped my attempts because it'd be to hard to pull off with the current implementation of the engine.
At first I thought I'd do a top down camera and use the terrain textures as 2d landscapes but I found out I couldn't control or get the texture at a certain point.
Then I thought, hell, I'll just use the same camera angle but use cliffs. Only to find out I couldn't modify cliff levels.
It's a nice game which I love, but I don't think it should be remade in sc2. A huge deal is that completely destructible environment and I'm simply at loss about how to recreate it in sc2. You could probably recreate projectiles using units (so that you could manipulate them through triggers), but aesthetics wouldn't be the same I afraid. So yeah, some things are not fated to be in sc2.
It will be extremely difficult to pull off, but I think it could turn out to be pretty good. I remember a few great 2d games made in the wc3 editor (example link in bottom of text), and with the new sc2 editor, I bet that its possible.

Thanks for the reply Dustin374, jaxter184 wouldn't know manners even if it slapped him in the face!
