I am a "mapper in spee" and i planed to do a map
I personally DONT like the DoTA of SC2,theres so much you can do better with the SC2 engine, but watever.
SoTIs is a good map, for sure,but alots of peoples(i know atleast) doesnt like it and rather play other MoBas.
I decided(if i have time) to work on my own "dota"
for this, i need ideas of -> heros you want
-> engine ideas(like some things like destrucible things to make new gankways etc etc)
-> item ideas
if you ever played HoN/DoTa/LoL/BC or even SoTIs u know what i mean.
i also could need some advice about a map,cause i am bad at mapmaking,someone who can do this for me would be awesome(triggers etc no problem for me) since i really REALLY have not alot of time,and my maps usually dont look quite well.(standart 5v5 map , 3 lanes, top mid bot)
Its just an idea,dont give to much hope to this, and i really need suggestions etc,because i dont want to make a "totaly balanced but wtf totaly crappy clone of a MoBa"
i hope you can put some efford in this and make your item ideas.
please note that theres a basis i have ideas at and some things i already have planed which are 100%ly in,its not like i will let you do all the work.
Making unique terrain, and some new items will not make your map stand out from other AoS maps. If you like to do something unique, start by creating completely different heroes and spells for example.
Instead of the standard 4 spells, you could raise this to 7? 8? it's your choice. You could choose to focus more/less on heroes, maybe instead of the normal 6 creeps per spawn, you could raise this to lets say 20, SC2 can handle that, which WC3 had troubles with, like having more than 4 spells.
Personally, this is where I think SotIS fails big time, just blindly copying the WC3 map and adding some sexy interface, but forgetting what the Galaxy Editor really brings over the WC3 editor. I think, if it was not for the limits in the WC3 editor, IceFrog's DoTA would look completely different!
I hope you open your eyes and mind more than most people/companies trying to copy DoTA!
i really didnt wanted to offense SoTIs because maybe some peoples like it.
i said i wanted a DOTA LIKE Game(a moba) not a "dota clone"
thats why i need ideas,spells etc etc
look HoN, 90% of the heros are 1:1 from DoTa but the game is aweosme cause its not the SAME.
Look at LoL, i know lots of peoples says "lol isnt even as good as HoN"
but you cannot compare the heros, the heros are kinda unique(dota and HoN and demigod and bloodline champions or ANY moba game at all) doesnt have an Twisted fate as example.
i wanted to use the SC2 engine AS GOOD as possible for a moba game.
that infact alots of peoples copy DoTA is because it was such a sucess.
But i wanted to make something unique. using the engine to the max i can.
more spells, more heros,more creeps, larger scale maps, more tactic things , things like this, unique settings nothing else has.
the idea is that i dont wanna "copy" dota, i wanna make a "moba" (which is multiplayer online battle arena)
which are kinda all the same.
the idea is the same, the style is different.
Thats why i need suggestion,because if i do all on my own,it will fail 100p%.
the thing with the map is, i suck at mapmaking,and some other points
if i would make that with some more peoples,that would be awesome.
Hey, if you want some help with the technical side....check out my DOTA tutorial in my signature. That should help you out a lot if you are new to the editor- you may even be able to program most of it yourself. I completely agree with there being to many 'okay' dota maps. There needs to be an amazing one :D Now for ideas....
Immortal Hero of some sort
Tank type hero. Very high hp + shields, good at defense + crowd control.
Maybe its ultimate could be hardened shields for a short duration?
Dark Templar Hero
Standard stealth class. Sneaks around cloaked. Low hp, high damage. Close range hero, no ranged attacks
Some kind of back stab ability that only works from behind?
Hydralisk Hero
Creep-related attacks. Maybe all attacks do extra damage while on creep, and there is a creep trail behind him
Ability to spread creep somehow? Maybe if you kill a unit with this attack it spawns a creep tumor for a minute or something?
Zealot
Uses rage instead of mana, its your standard dps close range character
Maybe some sort of ability where the zealot stomps the ground, sending out a shockwave in front of him that stuns enemy units
Tassadar
Very very powerfull spells
very low hp + shields, extremely defenseless
can kill enemy units every fast with AOE and heavy damage spells
High Templar
support hero, good at aiding allies but weak by himself
can cast buffs on allies, has a passive buff to help nearby allies, etc...

mmm well wc3 dota based a partial of ammount of their heroes on heros that were in campaign. but seeing as you have 3 races all on opposing sides this might not be possible in sc2. so it might be good idea to create units with no priority of which team your on...btw im speaking of a dota game that had no mode so you could only choose your sentinel based heroes or scourge based :)
ok i did some thinking and i guess i can release some hero ideas.
first of all:
lvl cap is 24, i expect longer games than 40 minutes,because the game will strech abit, like 1 h to 1:30 each game.
you cannot stat your "stats" because it will be more like LoL(not quite like LoL but more in that way, to make it easier to acces for newbys, and not to easy for pros)
so basicily, your items gives a direct bonus,not int/str/agi.
if you have comments on that,feel free to tell me.
every char has 4 skills, the ulti is capped to 4, all other skills are 5,i may adjust that system later.
more skilsl means more lvls and more brainfk,thats why making more than 5 is probably a bad idea.
There will be chars which allows jungeling(aka creeping)
the creeps respawn on a set timer, u can jungle without stacking creeps and still dont get far behind.
laning is important, it will give some money,but the focus will be teamplaying(means ganking and teamfights) so laning will not be your only way to get money.
you can denie : creeps
and towers.
you cant denie : heros (if you want me to change that,just say)
NOTE:
maybe i make a easy map for newbys without denieing , because this stresses out some players,expectly new players.
what i am not quite sure now is:
-> does denieing gives you money? feedback on this would be awesome, do you want it?

Now i ahve the baisic champs, which are 6
those are probably only test champs, which i will either disable, or intigrate in the beta/game release.
the 6 basic champs(without history) are:
hes very squishy, and he is mainly there for killing enemys off guard,which is the job of a carry, all his skills are 1 targed aim, so he probably is not that wortfull in a teamfight.
2nd:
Kog'talemu, the pride of the assasins(using the DT skin)
roles: stealthed assasin.
skills:
1th a simple cloack,which cloacks him for 10/20/30/40/50 seconds and increases his movement speed by 5/10/15/20/25%
2th(only work if stealthed) stuns the enemy, deals the attack damage
3th (only work if enemy is stunned) he ram a knife inside the enemy dealing his damage , the enemy bleeds for 5 seconds losing dmg/sec.
4th skill (works always) a simple short ranged aoe which hits enemy that sorrounds him. doing his AD dmg, every upgrade increase the range of the AOE dmg.
his ult.
he closes his eyes for a moment and just randomly stab the next enemy insight, he does up to 6 attacks/7/8/9 which are dealing 2x the amount of damage.
he cannot select the target,the nearest enemy is under fire, he swaps the target automatic, after this is finished, he cannot move for 3 seconds,but he turns invisible if he survive.
however,this drains 100% of his energy he currently have.
role ingame:
Hes a simple SIMPLE assasin, you kill enemys off guard,they cant see you,they have no map awardness,theres noone to save them -> theyre dead
but once they have you with only 2 peoples,youre pretty much dead, cause you are the definition of squishy.
dieing often with him is not hard, surviving thats it.
he deals incredible burst,but after the burst is gone,all he has is his auto attack.
"the terminator", the mercenary (using the marauder skin)
type: skillshot ranged DPS carry.
the last carry for now btw.
skills:
1th skill is a shoot that hits all enemys in a straight line, doing damage, however,the damage decreses 5% each enemy he hits,it cant drop below 50%.
2th skill is a net which slows the enemy if it hits him/her.
3th skill drains your life to increase your attack speed/running speed.
4th skill is a medipack which slightly heals himself.
his ultimate is a rageing attack,where he shoots all his arsenal on one time, doing great damage in the form of a < (sorry english isnt my first language,i dont know how its called,but you can kinda imagine it like a < )
type in a fight:
staying behind in teafights is his streng<sub>doing great damage even if hes squishy, but he has no chance in a melee fight,he end up just dieing.</sub>
his 3th skill can be used to get out to.
this char has the highest range,but also nearly no armor or life, makes him vernuable to melees.
"Scott" , the friendly roach with brain
role : tank
skill :
1th he activates a defense armor giving him some armor points.(add some damage repeal)
2th skill activitaes an shield on a friend,which gives him armor, if the friend get attacked,scott heals himself of some % of the damage the friend took.(can be used on himself,add damage repeal)
3th skill is a taunt,which makes the enemy attacking scott ,even if they dont want
4th burrowing let him flash for a short distance to get away of a dangerous situation.
his ult is acid spill, in a great circle,he slow every enemy and dealing some damage.
role in a fight:
his ult allows him to nearly disable a whole team, while he himself has so much life and defendse that focusing him is a bad diea.
if he activates his 1th and 2nd ability on himself, he got so much life repeal,that any dps char will bite themself that dps chars most likely nearly kill themself.
makes him perfect to initiate fights.
his damage is not quite impressive hjigh,so that is all he can.
Charlyn, the nurse
(lol bad name wtf)
role : support heal.
skill:
1th regains mana for a friend/self
2th regains life for af riend/self
3th cleanse debuffs
4th some little granades which makes some damage
her ult makes 1 dude invincible for 2/3/4/5 seconds and heal him completply, the rest of the team gets some heal.
role in a fiht:
she stays back and heal and support,her granades are nice herrasment,but becomes p week in late game.
and atlast but not atleast:
Sycor, the brainsick templar.
role: caster
skills:
his 1th skill is a 1 target nuke which deals a good amount of damage
his 2nd skill is a root(not a stun,he only roots) which doesnt deal damage,but decrease the enemys magic resistance
his 3th skill is a damage over time debuff which makes damage over time,once the target dies(needs to be an hero for that effect) he regains all his mana
his 4th skill makes damage for every second its casted, it drains mana every second
his ult is fairly simple.
it does one massive AOE; inside it, on the middle it makes 100%, as far as it goes out the circle,the damage decrease,this spell has 2 seconds cast time.
i also could need some advice about a map,cause i am bad at mapmaking,someone who can do this for me would be awesome(triggers etc no problem for me) since i really REALLY have not alot of time,and my maps usually dont look quite well.

i am bad at making a terrain,i dont know why.
i can do all triggers witout problems but the terrain and lets just say the map itself looks like crap.
I would vote against denying in any form. Not only does it make it really hard for noobs, I feel that its kinda lame. Killing your own guys to prevent somebody else from killing them? And terrain is hard to make. Dont worry about that.

every unit has one def and on agressive spell
example hero1 has a wall so he can disable the enemy and an grab so he can pull an specific enemy trough his wall
hero2 has an pwoerfull knockback and can jump

just kills give gold that u can switch between ur allies to get the most out of ur team
You can't see it from the video but it says "+5 Wood" and "+5 stone" When you hit them. This was suppose to be a survival game where you had to gather wood and stone. Errr, nothing more than that, but just to throw it out there.
What you really need is to have base upgrades. Have something that increases armor of bases and increases the attacks of the towers. Same for creeps and let them upgrade creeps if they want. Like have a medic in there that shoots like stetmann but has a chance to heal. Although I'm basing these ideas off demigod which is a map I'm trying to make also. But some small ideas from a good dota style game should be enough, at least I think it's good.

those are more the standart heros, i wanted to give all heros a name and a history too =P
but i thought of those too.

what is important what i wanted to make, is some more focus on skillshots, not to much,not all skills but more than other mobas for instance.

Tel'aldé, a death sentenced zealot.(using the zealot skin obviously,abit changed so you can see that hes not a creep) type: carry/melee dps skills: his first skill lands an combo strike of 3 attacks, which are doing 75/80/85/90/100% of his attack power each hit, and supress the enemy for 2 seconds. his 2nd skill charge right into the enemy and slow him for 15/20/25/30/35 % for 2 seconds. his 3th skill is a passive which makes him faster,if you activate it, he lose life,but while its active,the effect is 150% and also each hit he lands decreases the cooldown of all skills for 0.5 seconds. the effect is 15/20/25/30/35 % attackspeed bonus his 4th skill is a little shield , he can only use it if he drops below 25% life, it gives him 20/25/30/35/40% def. His ult let him turn dark for a moment, every attack is stronger .and his attackspeed is also doubled, he runs faster, but while this is active,he cannot use any skills at all. notes:
