I am a social psychology researcher and I am trying to use starjeweled for a research project. There are a few things that I need to change but I have never used a map editor before. I have tried and failed over and over to figure it out myself, reading blogs and searching for tutorials, but still coming up empty. I am in desperate need of some guidance and help. This could be instructions, tutorials, or someone with time that is willing to build it. This research project will be presented at a national conference and I would put the name of the people involved on the project (in psychology its worth recognition for your resume, maybe not so much for others but its all I have to offer)
Things I need to change:
1. Can I change the number of rounds to 3 instead of 5? Also, if they lose the first two, I would like them to still play all three rounds. Is there a way to keep it from stopping the game?
2. I would like to change the number of available characters and their energy cost for each round. I am hoping to make three available characters: a Zealot, a ... I will actually be building 3 maps. One where all 3 characters are worth 100 energy. One where all 3 are worth 500 energy. and one where they are worth different amounts (100, 250, and 500). Can I change it from 8 to 3 characters? How do I change the energy cost?
3. I need to eliminate the extra abilities (I'm not sure what they're called but they're lined up at the bottom where you select to reset the board). I would like to keep the option of resetting the board though.
4. If it is possible to change settings for one round in a block? I would like the first round to be a practice round because most of my participants will not be familiar with the game, so is it possible to make rounds different difficulties in the same game? Like the first round easy and the others medium?
5. Last thing, I would like to stop between the 2nd and 3rd round for a short time. Is there a way to make it pause after completion of a round?
1st of all, welcome to sc2mapster. I've got some newbie tutorials in my signature if your interested. I admire you using starcraft 2 for research....lol As for your questions....I'd say all of those things are definitely possible. I've never taken a look at how starjewled so I'm not sure how tricky it would be to modify these things. I just took a look at the map right now (I have to get off the computer in a minute so sorry if this is sounds rushed, I dont have time to test everything out) heres my advice for now:
All of this is in the trigger editor ( press F6)
1- I'd play around with settings in the " Match Victory/Defeat" action. Maybe try changing 'max games to win' to something smaller
sorry ran out time lol. I'll try to get back to you with the more info later.....

Feel free to Send me a PM if you have any questions/concerns!
for ).5 Just press the pause button in game. I'd have to look at the map to see whether its possible to edit the UI, etc. Blizzard can be pretty strict about their maps even in letting the community look at there stuff.
