Ok so, I got an idea for a map. These are just random facts to show what it could be. It is inspired from other map with this kind of "infector / infected" idea but here it will be the main idea.
There is 3 teams of 3 maximum. You have:
Infectors (Zerg): Goal is to infect all the planet (map / everybody)
Infected (Terran): Goal is to kill the infectors
Erradication: (Protoss): Goal is to kill infectors and/or infected.
The map starts with multiple bases all around the map. Terran will conquere these with a starting squad, and infectors will infect these with their primary hero. Protoss transform these into super powerfull building at high cost with their primary ultimate units (this mean small but powerfull base). Erradicate infected city though, gives alot of ressources from the destroyed building. As well as infecting building doesn’t cost building it.
Every races have a unique unit. Terran is a Healer, Zerg is an Infector and Protoss a Erradicator.
Every of those units have a bunch of abilities, to heal, to detect virus, to apply virus, to move underground, to erradicate, to jump through space and time…
The other units are similar to the melee game. Depending of the stage of the map, there could be alot of changes into the tech tree and new units like firebat, Infested terran, Hybride…
Alliances, Terran are ennemy to Zerg. Protoss are neutral, it depends what they want; kill everyone from the planet, erradicate the Terran or erradicate the Zerg. Zerg are ennemy to everyone.
All races can build and make an army, harvest, mine, kill eatch others.
If Terran and Protoss try to kill Zerg, if Zerg infect some Terran, Protoss got to choose between continuing or going erradicate that base, if it’s a base in the middle of the Terran, the infection can growth very fast and spread, from there, Zerg will be advantaged and Terran without a base, at this point Protoss might not be able to survive and incoming Zerg huge army. So Protoss can’t survive or with some luck, against only Zerg. They need the Terran for pushing, as well as they hate Terran caus they get Infected.
Infectors: Eatch players got 1 unique hero. He is absolutly invisible and undetectable. He can moves everywhere. He can cast an infection spell, which is hiden until he wants between 10-45sec. The infected unit might move around. The infector could cast the same spell from the infected unit on other unit. Then, the infection growth up. And the infected unit explode doing small damage on nearby units (You are under attack message) and infect those nearby units. This mean they got about 30 sec to find any healer. (the spell could be on unit or building). The infectors can mutate building into Spore Cannon which could shoot a bunch of infections randomly on the map. It could do nothing, as it could infect a new base or infect a used base.
Erradicator: Eatch players got 1 unique hero. He is powerfull and gain power overtime. He is better in erradicating than attacking. They transform building.
Every protoss building can attack. Terran have typical defences with probably things from WoL. Zerg have some special building like the Spore Cannon I talked about.
Terran can build their own base and conquere other bases.
When a Terran base get infected more than 70%, there is a Alert message for Terran for evacuating, one for Protoss for Erradicating, one for Zerg for a new infected base.
Players can vote between their team to allie or unallie one of the other races.
Protoss infection : they automaticly detect it when cast on them. Though, if they do nothing, Zerg might take control of some Protoss units / building. Corrupted protoss are pretty powerfull and cannot be saved. Also, the Erradication spell will be too large or expensive to cast it for a single corrupted building. So protoss or terran must kill them manually.
Mech problem : Corrupted building vs Protoss building that can shoot. Maybe corrupted building could relocate or move (move faster on creep).
Long term games : Protoss hero gain life, shield and energy. Terrain hero get better anti-infection spell and some kind of auto detect and heal. Zerg gain more possibilities with random infection with Spore Cannon and timing for the infection is much faster.
Zerg infect Terran. If Terran are infected, they might have not enough firepower so Protoss erradicate the too much infected City.
Terran can kill Protoss and/or Zerg (if enought firepower).
Protoss can kill too much infected Terran. But they are either with or against Terran. They just want the planet to be secure of any virus. (Terran could be count as a virus, haha.)
So this will looks like a melee game but, with a map full of pre-made bases which eatch races conquere the way they can at the beginning. They make they base and develop. They try to win folowing their alliances. Also there will be unique units, heros, and team working.
To create this map, it should be pretty simple. What will be hard is balancing. There is no new model or anything to import. Every models are accessibles. Corrupted protoss or infested Terran, they both exist. Spore Cannon, hero, and special units exist.
So the yes there is a great need of data editing, but you might not need to be expert. There is also a need to understand triggers for dialogs and many other things.
I could make this map with alot alot of time and discouragement. But I could. Since I don't want to spend so much time, I post here to know if anyone would be interested in doing a map like this one.
