Make a map just like the monobattle map that shows up around 8 or 9 in the top 10 now. (Megaton (Team Monobattles) by Arkeia) with two differences that are already implemented in other maps:
1) Like in Hero Attack - allow the players to vote on the map when starting - no new terrain development required. Just allow us to choose between Megaton, Extinction, District 10, etc... All the 4v4 maps. Also allow a vote for random map.
2) Allow game mode voting at beginning with options to force random unit and/or random race.
If anyone can make this happen I would be grateful. I got no skillz.
Make a slower pace, long term, survival game that doesn't bore you mid or end game.
Seriously, if you can create a survival map that doesn't get boring or laggy end game, then you win.

The world is a post-apocalyptic world.
Nuclear radiation litters the world like ponds, creating dangers everywhere.
Mutants exists everywhere, STALKER style.
Survivors have to try to survive day by day by relying on food, resources, and wits.
There's guns involved, but there's also ammunition system to make it interesting. Combat seems a little slow, but it brings out the suspense of dying since you gotta make smart use of your items. Items becomes vital as all and any items collected has a important use somewhere.
Oh and PVP is always on, but killing other players won't guarantee you will survive either.
I was thinking, I dont dont know if anyone here's ever played planetside, but it would be cool if you could implement a planetary system like that for SC2 in a mod. Say you have 50 maps which make up a planet, you chose your race and meet at the frontlines to try to gain control of the entire planet. It could be done team melee style or hero and commander style where one person controls the races units melee style and the other players use their heros to influence the battle. There could be benefits to capturing different maps allowing for certain upgrades for hero units or commander abilities or something. Not sure if it's possible to link maps together in this way though and if it is it's probably complicated.
Ok I have a pretty good idea . Did you ever see the movie : Battle: Los Angeles ? I want to make a mod like that . You start with a BIG city with alot of objectif and your mission is to protect your nuclear reactor and defend the cirty from the invasion . Ok i have a map idea that will require serious thought but when complete will be addictive and very competitive.
the thought i had came from the recently created game called Civilization sapphire. it is a game where you slowly concur the land and tech through the epochs of human civilization. the game is greatly flawed and could be so much better. some of the problems he is having is that the game is not accurate to human history and he has too few of units to build. (with each epoch you get 1 new unit and no heros) LAME! but believe it or now people are eating it up! its on the top 10 or the most popular maps when you go to custom games, in sc2.
This is where my game would be different. i want to make a civilization game where you get to have: heroes, armys, and bases. Also i want the player to be able to pick the way his civilization will develop by either picking different tech trees or picking a different race at start-up. in this mode an idea would be::
Zerg: Barbaric tribes
Protoss: Mystics with Mages
Terrran: Industrial people
Through the techs the different civilizations would have different strengths and weaknesses. For example, the barbarian tribes will be powerful early game and have tank melee characters and a good barbarian hero, but late in the game they get overpowered by the others so they would want to expand early and stay ahead. For the mystics and mages they would be best in the mid game, so they would want to play it safe till they get their mage hero to carry them along or something. and for the industrial civilization, they would have the late game so they would be the "turtles" of the game. but they would have benefits throughout the game because of their engineering know-hows like making tribuchets. Now if we were to do it the other way and what i think would be the better way. as your civilization progress you build different buildings and at those buildings you pick one of 2 or 3 upgrades to make. like for example at the city hall you have the choice between; the ways of magic or the way of science thus causing a great turning point in your society. these are just a few ideas i have but it will be great. The biggest problem we would have in development would be the balancing issues. having that much selection and differences can cause the game to be GREAT or TERRIBLE, it all depends on the programming team who does it.
Another thing that the game should have would be 3 or 4 resources all custom resources. the first would be tree: i have done this using the korhol tree as a skin for a mineral field, EZ. the second would be food, so i was thing that the units should hunt early in the game then develop farms that periodicly produce food. it would be cool to also put critters like cows on a short "leash" around the farm. so they would appear to graze in the farm. and third would be ore: i say we could just make a zone and use a building to look like a mine maybe the geyser but i want it to be as realistic and cool as possible. and the fourth would be maybe something like oil or some other type of ore. this one is a maybe or maybe not.
i know this game sounds like alot and i tried making it by myself and after i finished the first few steps i realized that it will be way too much for me to handle, but once it is finished i think it would be really popular and people would enjoy the different gameplay than the norm. if you would like to contact me and get somemore ideas E-mail me at: [email protected]
Well i already have a map I am making at the moment, but I need some help. It is a combination of marine arena and a king of the hill game. Basically you spawn units at your base, then you attempt to control the middle to gain income. The longer you control the middle the more income you receive. Eventually a player gains enough power to destroy the other races (Zerg, Terran, Protoss, or Nature). Nature is a race I made, it is basically the critters like cows. I have added attacks and increased life and armor. I need some help finishing this so if anyone can help please message me. Also i am making an RPG map I need help with finishing. Thank you.

Since everyone seems to be doing remakes of Starcraft (which seem to be quite popular btw), how about remakes of Starcraft: Insurrection and Starcraft: Retribution? They were add ons for Starcraft that each boasted full length campaigns (20 to 30 missions each) and a ton of new multiplayer maps. Both added in brand new heroes as well as some brand new "elite" units so to speak, such as the New Dresdin Outlaws and the Fists of Ulzraj
im currently in the works of making a builder/fighter game, simular to what is know as "desert strike" on b.net now. the problem with the current version on b.net is that it has WAY to many bugs in it and it dont even use abilities correctly or even at all. EG: ravens never use seeker missle. and vikings never land. so any suggestions from anyone on what you would like to see in this game that i am making? currently trying to figure out how to get ghosts to nuke. :D... thinking of spawning scv's to build ghost acadamy's then autocasting build nukes once they are built. haha.

So its a TD but stay with me and try not to fall asleep. It follows the same style as something like a vexal (differant levels of difficulty and a shared spawn of units) but it uses many of the same elements as other td games. (obviously not nearly as robust as those other tds) so one races could be a gem td that supports a few differant types of gems and uses the gem td combo together lower things to make better towers. Could also do a race based on kingdom td that uses some blockers to help slow the creeps down as your other towers blast away. I got lots of ideas for it but obviously dont need to spell out every idea here. This does many things makes an awesome and fun map and, also gets people try maps they may not have before, Also lets them play a lite version of their favorite tds with a twist.

Just had an idea today. 4v4 fastest melee-style with a unique mechanic:
Players start with a CC/Nex/Hatch and a capital ship, a v2 Jackson's battlecruiser/Mothership/Leviathan respectively. There are no mineral patches or gas geysers. The capital ship uses a device to extract the resources via mining. Terran BC uses a red laser, Mothership uses a scaled down Planet Cracker, and the Leviathan drops a tendril into the ground, also using the rumbling ground animation from the nydus worm burrow.
The Cap Ship uses "Drop Anchor", a 5 second castable, to immobilize and begin mining. Mining initially generates... whatever, either 5 mins per second or 1 mineral 10x per sec, adjustable for balance. Upgrades of increasing cost boost mineral mining rates, and add vespene generation. Upgrades are equal to 30-90 seconds of mining time at the present level, so they get quite expensive later into the game. The ship can later Weigh Anchor to become mobile, during which mining ceases.
Cap Ships are also equipped with weapons which gain, say, 3 damage, 1 attack and .5 range per mining upgrade level. Mobile Mode doubles attack speed vs Mining Mode. Cap Ships have health in the 4000-8000 range. Of course, other castable abilities could be introduced to the Cap Ships as well.
I see a hell of a lot of potential with this.

Altered Starcraft
So this map, called Altered Starcraft is basicly a normal melee game, with a twist!
You start of with a base and a normal set of workers, mining on, just like any melee map, but there are no gas geysers, you start of with 1 gas, which is then renewed to 1 every time you spend it.
So for example, a marine cost 50 minerals and 1 gas, and a firebat if I recall correctly cost 2 gas, and to be able to get additional gas and tech up, you need to battle eachother and get kills for experience and when you level up to level 2, you get 2 gas every time you spend it.
And this is basicly all there is to it, I remember this being alot of fun back in BW, so this is my 2 cents for what could be an amazing map, alternatively this could be a great extension mod!

What if we make a map that contains both moba and traditional sc2, like 1 commander(just playing another round of sc2) vs 5 dota heroes.
That thought interests me for as a sc2 player I can hopefully have a great match against my league of legends friends. Well it may mean a lot of balance work i know.
Got and idea of custom campaign. It is about one of rogue hybrids that got free will after fall of Amon and now seek his place in the world, collecting other rogues, as well as dealing with problems of possible extniction of their race (how to find way to reproduce? and overcome anomosity of other races), gradually evolving his biological-psionic powers and so on...
or Majesty-like map where you can only give indirect orders to small brood/toss-terran base with units capable of leveling up and with their own personality

It is about one of rogue hybrids that got free will after fall of Amon and now seek his place in the world, collecting other rogues, as well as dealing with problems of possible extniction of their race (how to find way to reproduce? and overcome anomosity of other races), gradually evolving his biological-psionic powers and so on...
I was thinking more about this and how it could be a cool concept. Imagine a mission 1 without a briefing or prologue. The player starts with a single hybrid in a trashed, dark facility - lots of dead bodies and broken equipment. Add some simple puzzles early on and keep the players questioning what's going on, just like the hybrid character also will be unsure where they are, what they are, and why they're there. Maybe a micro section involving autoturret defenses or something, but keep the first half of the map notably lacking any other faction.
The second half, have a joint Dominion/Protoss force breach the facility that is looking to purge all remaining hybrid now that Amon is gone. A chase sequence ensues where you have to run from the breaching forces and escape. Give the Hybrid a 'Domination' ability that only works on critters like Karaks and Ursadon that were also captive in the facility and wandering around that the player has to Dominate and use to delay the chasing Terran/Protoss forces. From there, the story could go in any direction, but I like this idea of a character waking up from a time of no memory (when controlled by Amon), and now on the run and trying to define it's own identity.

And maybe periodically challenged by other hybrids since not all admit him as leader. Not to mentions search groups of Protoss or Dominion who relentlessly pursue through several missions...
