Hi I know this is not a help thread but is anyone else having a problem with the latest update? SC2 after the update always make my game 4v4 filling up all AI slots not matter what I do in the vs AI create game screen.
So im thinking about making a map based on the werewolf game (aka mafia). Basically the the idea is that there are about 11 players that are playing the villagers. Two of this villagers are actually werewolves, but no one knows who the werewolves are (other then ther weres themselves). So the game have two phases - day and night. At night the werewolves secretly kill one villager, and at day the villagers talk and try to figure out who the wereloves are, then they vote and lynch the person who got the most votes. this is continued until one side (wolves or villagers) kills all the players on the other side.
this are the basics but u can add a lot of additional roles like a seer that can, once a day, check to see if a chosen player is a werewolf (but have no way of proving this to the other players).
Do you think this idea is worth implementing? you think ppl will play this? or should i try to adjust it to the starcraft atmosphere and add more real-time aspects to the game?
Seems like a good idea to me, as long as you implement it alright. There is a map called infection or something similar to this, and its fairly popular. I'd say allow werewolves to morph between human and wolf form at night, and give the players stuff to do other than talk. Build barricades, choose who to trust and let inside, get materials by going into the forest (which is dangerous) and stuff like that.

Okay, personally, im a horror fanatic.. I can create my own sounds, or use sounds in other games to fit them perfectly into environments i create... Ive got an idea in my head right now..
NO NAME ATM - [ Based on Amnesia: The Dark Descent ]
If anyone has played Amnesia, im sure they know it is a very scary game.. I've been working on a trailer thing which shows basically a small video of these people who went ghost hunting in an abandoned place called 'Slauchen Mansion'. Where in the video they hear strange noises and so forth, until it concludes with a loud roar and this thing running towards em with them screaming.. I was not thinking about making a game for it, i was only going to be releasing a teaser video... But I've been getting the idea of making an entire mansion from scratch, played in First Person, you basically explore this entire mansion to find out what caused the disappearance of the crew..
You only have a flashlight to help you see, and you can collect items and such along your travel... Although, just like Amnesia, you cannot attack enemies, you must evade and hide from them.. You can hide in anything in-game, such as chests, lockers, trashcan's etc..
Was reading Fairy Tail and just had an amazing idea from it. The current arc is surrounding the events during the S Class mage trials. So I got an idea of making a map with the same trials and possibly some random encounters.
Stage 1 is get to the island first and choose a path
Stage 2 is go through your path(three paths have mages that are already S rank, four lead to each other so two teams fight each other, the last one is a quite area where there is no fighting)
Stage 3 is find the first master's grave on the giant island.
Stage 4 (No idea due to the arc just starting. Although I doubt it'll be told since there are some twists already happening which is just blowing my mind)
btw read Fairy Tail, great manga.
EDIT: I guess that would be too many players. If each team is 2 players and three paths are to other mages, that's 6 players. Then four paths lead two teams to fight each other so that makes it 8 more. Then one quite zone which would mean 2 more. So at least 16 if my math is right. Well can always lower the number.

First idea:
Encroach TD of Strife
Aeons + TD = Evolves + Rise of Nations
The basic idea was to attempt to combine as many game modes as possible. More could be implemented, which would be good.
Each team has a region that they can build in
As they push their enemy's front line back, they can build in opposing territory, as their "buildable" region will expand into it.
Units are built by the "evolves" player and run through the enemy's maze
(deployed from the front edge of the team's buildable region)
Units that get to the end of the mze do battle with the king (or the towers or something)
Evolves players start off being able to build base unit of their race
as time goes on, they unlock new unit types
they can focus research on upgrading a certain unit type,
unlocking abilities for a unit type (abilities that more than one unit uses, like burrow, unlock for all but take longer)
or just putting more energy into unlocking new unit types at a faster rate
Evolvers players can alternatively spend research upgrading the king.
Giving him abilities (for vs aoe mostly)
or boosting his stats
TD players can build towers (course)
towers can be assigned different weapons, or upgrades
Base weapon does 5 damage
Upgrades do +5 to armored, air, massive, etc.
Or slow, immolate?
Strong weapon just does +7 damage
Available Wording:
Level of sophistication: Simple, Normal, Elitist
Era: Elizabethan, Modern, Post-Modern
Subliminal message (typically carries an extra theme)
maybe killing off musicians (like cobain) depresses them
The more hip you are, the better of all of the above you can get
Work jobs to earn money, honest work makes you less hip
sales from successful works will also profit you
Make selections on what tactics to employ with attacks, for example clothing to wear, wording to use, themes, etc.
Using too many themes makes your stuff shallow and gimmicky
Using the wrong ones makes your stuff uncool
Multiplier bonuses for "trending" when you do a lot of cool stuff all at once?
Sell drugs. Don't get busted, or you'll do time. It'll make you less hip, and your enemy will be able to build up a sizable attack.

I have an Idea!
Genre : Card game
Players : 2 or 4
How to play : You have one building that constantly sends out a marine. That marine travels across a road to meet the other side. +1 mineral per kill. Minerals are used to collect cards. There are decks of cards to choose from, Terran, Protoss, Zerg. Each deck contains smaller decks. Basic units, Faster units, Bigger units, Slower units, Special units, and many more. You can collect up to 5 cards. But you can only play 2 for every 1 minute. When you play a card, 3 of that unit appears and travel across the road to the other side. First one to destroy the main building wins! Each game would last 40min - 1hr.
Pros : Could be a fun game to play, requires a little to a lot of strategy to counter the sent units.
Cons : Would take a while to make, a lot of custom units, and skills too.
I have and idea about a melee map, where every race would hav a different resources (one of them standard gold, wood, food by building fam-like buildings; second could be like in dawn of war if you know it - one resource by building generators, second by capturing points and supply cap by research; the third race would be somethign completely new, like agressive race with blood as resource (you have to kill to get it)), other races would also have some anvantage of these resource-gathering points (like auras from capture points, connecting building with gold mine makes it build 2 units at once or something).
I had an idea for a Battlecruiser Command type map. The idea is that you have 1 battlecruiser in which you need to upgrade with different abilities and such to take out the oppenents battlecruiser. I am aware of a map like this already on battle.net but that wasnt that good.
My version would involve having a command centre and scvs to gain minerals needed for the upgrades and the requirement for the player to expand to different space platforms to get extra income. When upgrading the battlecruiser you would be required to land it on the ground so that your scvs could then construct upgrades onto areas of the ship, which would be attached to the ship but remain seperate units which could be destroyed without destroying the battlecruiser for example, a shield generator, anti missle system, Interceptor bay, warp drive. These abilities would then be upgradable several levels. SCVs would be required to follow a tech tree in order to get all the avaliable upgrades. Anti battlecruiser units could also be made, different kinds of missles could be researched etc. Units similar to marines and Medivacs and siegetanks would also be used to help with expanding and such.
Thinking about it, there could be different classes of Battlecruiser you could follow through tech, such as following the tech tree to be a bomber, a warship, or a support ship, to elminate any kind of balance issues of having coupled abilities which over power your cruiser.
The key to winning would be managing your Battlecruiser effectively and mixing/matching the right upgrades, as well as using your ground forces effectively to conquer the map. The ultimate goal would be to destroy the other teams battlecruiser or eliminate all there buildings.

In this video, you build your base inside a battlecruiser (there are other vehicles available). Here I built 4 gauss cannons, 4 cannon turrets, 3 ion cannons, 2 fighter bays and 2 bomber bays. The ability I used is called Warp Drive, and is a targetted, single direction speed boost.
You flip between external and internal view. The guns you build internally will fire externally. The fighter bays you build internally will launch fighters externally. You can see most of this in the video, even if it's a little short and lacking clarity.
This is a really old video and the whole map is nearly ready for beta. The gameplay is much different to what you mentioned, but the core is scarily similar.

Zergling burgers as fast food... oh the irony. Finish your meal before it runs away or the Vultures get to it! Now digestable even faster with the Metabolic Boost upgrade!
Reminds me of Rupture Farms from Abe's Oddysee... I'll see if I can get enough ideas to make this into a fun map.

It definitely needs infected food that turns the eater into an Infested Terran. :D
Zerglings trying to escape from the farms... psi disrupters to slow them down so the guards have enough time to take them down... hmm the idea's starting to evolve... ^^
Maybe make this into multiplayer so you can compete on the market against others? :o

You need to manage zergfarms , cucumber & leaf domes and bread bakeries. the more you invest in these buildings, the better the burger tastes, but the more expensive the burger will be. so you need to buy flowers, music, paintings and so on to make your restaurant more interesting for reacher people so they can afford your luxury burger. or you produce cheap bad tasting burger for dozens of poor people.
you have to treat you employes nice, otherwise they quit. salary vs. working hours. maybe you can feed the zergs with bad employes, so they others work harder, because they are afraid :-D

I think I'm up to this, but I'll take some time to come up with more ideas... Then I'll post it on the forums, and I'll let you know in PM if you don't notice it otherwise. I'll post my own idea first but we can still discuss it further after that. I'm good with triggers and decent with making custom dialogs, so this shouldn't be a problem for me. I'm not sure about making an "inside view" of the restaurants though, since it would be quite a bit of extra work. I was thinking more like an overview of the city where you can buy buildings and upgrade them etc. and also of the countryside where the zergling farms are located (and the meat brought in with trains or something). The biodome idea is cool.

One very popular (and fun) thing of Starcraft1 and Warcraft3 that isn't allowed in Starcraft2 because of Battle.net2 impossibility to name games: Melee match with observers in public games.
It's fun watching games live and playing while being watched. Since there is also no chat lobby it's hard to find people to play custom games with. So here's the idea to make this possible, more unique and popular:
Using the sc2 leaderboard systems, people could place bets on the people playing. You can only bet if someone bet on the opposite player and you can only bet an amount you possess and that is equalled on the other side. If you run out of cash you are awarded a free 100$ to start over again.
This would add fun in watching replays and make a bit more than "blizzard map with spectator enabled".
There could be a leaderboard for gamblers and for players. Maybe they get a small cut of the profits gamblers make.
Additionnal possible options could be side bets, betting on yourself, or even special bets like "3/1 bet if he take him down in 10 minutes or with 70% handicap option". One important feature would be to be able to change bet until a set amount of time. For example, you can add to the bet until the 5 first minutes of the game, and possbility to offer a double up bet late game when it gets intense.
There could also be some kind of tournament or elite mode. Like people gamble minerals that they can trade for gas to get tournament tickets. If everyone has 1 gas to spend a tournament start for a big amount of mineral prize. Maybe every player spectate during the other games or it's simply a best of 3 of 2 players that have a high player ranking. When a game is done map and mineral patches reset for next match. Something like that.

I was thinking more like an overview of the city where you can buy buildings and upgrade them etc. and also of the countryside where the zergling farms are located (and the meat brought in with trains or something). The biodome idea is cool.
Edit: Alright, I've created a team (Zergling Burgers) so we can properly start designing the map. I'll do most (or all) of the actual work but I could use some extra brains to help with design, give feedback and suggestions and so on. Give me a shout in PM if you're interested in helping out. BattleBet/GambleCraft/whatever :
One very popular (and fun) thing of Starcraft1 and Warcraft3 that isn't allowed in Starcraft2 because of Battle.net2 impossibility to name games: Melee match with observers in public games.
It's fun watching games live and playing while being watched. Since there is also no chat lobby it's hard to find people to play custom games with. So here's the idea to make this possible, more unique and popular:
Using the sc2 leaderboard systems, people could place bets on the people playing. You can only bet if someone bet on the opposite player and you can only bet an amount you possess and that is equalled on the other side. If you run out of cash you are awarded a free 100$ to start over again. This would add fun in watching replays and make a bit more than "blizzard map with spectator enabled". There could be a leaderboard for gamblers and for players. Maybe they get a small cut of the profits gamblers make.
Additionnal possible options could be side bets, betting on yourself, or even special bets like "3/1 bet if he take him down in 10 minutes or with 70% handicap option". One important feature would be to be able to change bet until a set amount of time. For example, you can add to the bet until the 5 first minutes of the game, and possbility to offer a double up bet late game when it gets intense.
There could also be some kind of tournament or elite mode. Like people gamble minerals that they can trade for gas to get tournament tickets. If everyone has 1 gas to spend a tournament start for a big amount of mineral prize. Maybe every player spectate during the other games or it's simply a best of 3 of 2 players that have a high player ranking. When a game is done map and mineral patches reset for next match. Something like that.
