8 years have transcurred since the Brood War. Terran civilization is back on its feet, but there have been reports in the last years about Zerg presence in the fringe worlds.
Intelligence reveals that Kerrigan isn't in Char. She's travelling through other worlds in a frontier sector. The Dominion uses it, and starts a great campaign of retaliation. The plan is to build Psi disrupters in the planets that are on the road from the Terran colonized space to Char: Sorona, Timul IV and Maltair IV. After hammering the Zerg communications, the intention is to burn every single one of them.
You Were a Captain in the war against the UED. You've been recently promoted to Lieteunant by recomendation of Horace Warfield. He was your superior when you were serving the Confederates, and saw potential in you after the Dominion triumph. You're at the moment his favourite pupil, and he's preparing you to replace him in his shortcoming retirement.

Man, I cant get a video file that isn't huge in size (Like 500mb). And... I am terrible at sc2. TChosenOne's video does a lot better of a job than mine did, so I will type up my review.
From the viewpoint of an absolute sc2 noob:
The Briefing Screen:
Goods
Looked really good, 8/10 on aesthetics.
I really liked the "Intelligence Report" in the top right. I almost skipped over it though; I only knew it was there because it lit up when I moused over it.
The short camera work at the beginning was also nice!
Not Goods
The text goes too fast. Since you have a "Skip" button, I think you can slow the text speed down, without forcing people to sit through it if they don't want to.
I cannot click a difficulty level in the briefing screen? Does the game know I suck? I keep being put on normal, and i keep losing cuz I suck.
Gameplay:
Keep in mind here, that I do not play sc2, like.. at all. IDK what micro is. I stand and fight until I die, then try it again.
The Good
I was able to beat it!
I feel I improved my marine-using capabilities, between the start and finish.
I had a giant army of marines, thinking I would need them; and a well defended base. "I was sad to win, because I wanted to keep playing."
Amazing terrain work!
After I finally beat it (playing on bnet, so i couldnt save/load when I lost) you showed me that there were various achievements, and that I failed all of them. I wanted to play again to do them, because I still felt like a loser, struggling just to finish.
The Not Good
In the intro walk of shame, can marines aggro something farther away? It feels like then have a range of 5, and an aggro range of 4, so stuff gets a lot closer to me than I'd like (Remember, I am a noob)
Text flies a little fast here too. I don't think I had the time to read an entire line.
A handful of grammar and text mistakes, but I believe TChosenOne found all the ones I found, and a bunch more.
It is an intro mission, sure, but it would be nice if the zerg army slowly got larger or attacked. Or put a cap on food for me. I am a turtle, and when I had 40 marines to attack with, it was too easy.
Stranded on Krydon Renewed- A renewed version of Stranded on Krydon that is being constantly updated, has improved visuals, is more friendly to new players, lots more fun tweaks and much more planned to come.
Map tested video here. Will be adding to description and annotations in near future. (WARNING: contains secret spoilers):
Heads up for other players: it's entirely possible to get the no-bling hits without the secret unit. (you'll have to wait until after attack wave 4 hits)
It's a good map (good story hook/dialogue quality, good map design I think), but I'm a little disappointed in is how limited the no-baneling achievement makes the game. It prevents clever things like having Warfield tank a baneling hit while marines shoot another one or prevents the waves in part 2 from actually being harmful as the achievement still needs to be obtainable.
Minor Notes/Suggestions:
Text seems a bit fast, try reading it with adjudant speed.
The bright spot on the left side of the transmissions text box (in contrast with a mostly dark background) doesn't make it easy to read.
The details button should be changed to a "start communications" button. That way people can read the details before the dialogue.
I was a little disappointed that the banelings always unburrowed at the front during part 1. A good opportunity for micro instead of a-click wasted.
Secret unit has a slow turning speed while attacking, increase turn speed while targeting a unit please
at the end screen instead of "New Upgrade Stimpack", it says "Stimpack Stimpack"
Spelling/grammar/construction mistakes (some of these may just be personal preference):
"used to carry mine operations" -> "used to carry out mine operations"
"but left them" Who is them? Do you mean "but left the city"
"offered himself blah blah outpost" (this is personal preference) -> "offered blah blah outpost himself"
"is dismounted and prepared" (personal preference) -> "is dismounted and is prepared"
"they will start charging against" -> "they will start attacking"
yield -> yielded in by doc. in briefing
"hearing the message of the doctor jensen" (personal preference) -> "hearing doctor jensen's message"
"lastest" -> idk; either "latest" or "last"
incursionating to-> entering
It seems that "rookies" is spelt "rockies"
"ensure that we find no unforeseen" -> add a word after unforseen, or change this. I have no idea what to change it to.
During mission:
"Having a death general after" perhaps should be "The death of a general during" or something similar.
"for the Dominion Propaganda" -> one of "for the Dominion Propaganda machine" or "for Dominion Propaganda"
"don't let them get close enough" -> the "enough" seems unnecessary unless you're going to add "to explode" or something to it
"but the structure wasn't strong enough"? Do you mean "but the defences weren't strong enough"? The structure looks like it's intact to me, unless I'm missing something
"Nydus worms" -> "nydus worm"
"rise the first" -> "raise the first"
"will be no longer needed" -> "is no longer needed" (as the statement is present tense, not hypothetical future, change first 1/2 of sentence to "after the base" if you want to keep this)
"they will scale to the outer space" -> I don't know what you're trying to point us to here. Will zerg be hostile on other planets (this is most likely given opening briefing)? -> "attacks(or hostilities) will scale across the system" Will the zerg come from space? -> "attacks will come from space"
begining -> beginning (end of mission dialogue)
"All civilians prepare to evacuation" -> "All civilians prepare to evacuate"
I Loved it! The terraining is probably the best I have ever seen! I Loved the story, I am hooked, great UI (for briefing and ending thing). It is also nice and challenging.
Here is what could be improved:
Sometimes when a marine or the adjutant says something there is a sound file that says the same thing (or something similar).
For example when the adjutant said something about the nydus worm there was a sound file that says the exact same thing.
Now here are some glitches and mistakes that I found!:
In the intelligence Report unit preview, the unit was a bit glitched. The model did not seem to know what you what was in front of what. (say a radar dish was in front of a green glass thingy, you could see the green glass thing even though the dish was in front of it)
Some of the unit descriptions did not have the space to finish. For example:
...Gauss Rifles that fire 8mm metal spikes at hypersonic...
Warfiend's Gauss Rifle was called: Gauss Rifle copy.
That was it! You did a Great job! I rated your map 5/5 in the SC2 arcade and gave it a positive review! I can't wait for more missions.

Stranded on Krydon Renewed- A renewed version of Stranded on Krydon that is being constantly updated, has improved visuals, is more friendly to new players, lots more fun tweaks and much more planned to come.
I've noticed some extra bugs in the video. Watching the mission being played by another one is really helpful. It's not intended to have the ambience sound in the briefing room, and I have to add that missing crow to the achievement.
I don't remember completely, but I believe that the baneling achievement was for the first part only. I'll fix the description.
Now to the suggestions:
Fitting the text in the sections and making it flow through the mission fwas really difficult, I'll have to cut some lines to make the others last longer.
Do you mean in the briefing room? I'm going to reduce the alpha in the text boxes to make them more readable.
"Details" will now be "start meeting".
How's that? if you know a baneling is there, you can just stand right outside its scan range and kill it easily.
That secret unit was meant mainly as an easter egg. I've added it to the achievements to have 5 in total. Sure, I can make it even more OP. There are 2 more easter eggs that don't give any achievement.
Well, that's a lot of grammar issues, I'll take a look at them.
Do you mean that I could give generic sounds to some lines? I feel that if I do it then the lines without sound would feel strange. I prefer to wait until more missions are completed to decide how to work with the sound.
I might have missplaced the dialog items, I'll look into that.
I was sure I had tested that! There's always something that slips away.
To make the unit details in the briefing section not get cut off, just reduce the text size. The unit text size it bigger than the info about warfield and archemedies.

Agreed. Attack waves need more banelings to connect on higher difficulty to do damage.

Oh there's no way to vary the text change speed? Damn, I quite liked the mission intro dialogue.
"Details" will now be "start meeting".
How's that? if you know a baneling is there, you can just stand right outside its scan range and kill it easily.
I don't particularly understand what this means? If a baneling is approaching with (but behind) some zerglings you're not going to be able to retreat out of range of them.
I've changed the colors to select the difficulty in the briefing screen, that should be enough to distinguish them.
I've copied the difficulties from the official campaigns: easy is just like normal but without attack waves and with a handicap of 50%, hard adds some enemies and reduce the delay between attack waves, and brutal adds even more units reducing the delay too.
I could make the zerg slowly expand to the player's position to make the macro section more challenging.
I have to find a way of including the available achievements in the briefing room.
I haven't altered the default marines in any way, that's the way they work in Starcraft.
I didn't understand what you meant with more banelings to connect.
I moved a line to the intro cinematic. I believe that they don't overlap.
I moved the camera a little to have the brighter section outside the box. I'll take the screenshot and add it to the mission tonight.
Oh, I didn't get what you've said before. You meant that would be better having some enemies coming from outside the player's vision range instead of from off the ground. I could make some of them spawn like that in the hallway area, or the space before the base.
EDIT: I couldn't upload it to Europe yet, I believe that I have a latency issue. I'll try again later.
I haven't altered the default marines in any way, that's the way they work in Starcraft.

Ahh, I figured that was the case. I'm a noob. Possible for easy mode you could use a catalog field value set to increase the scan range of their weapon by 1? (a simple 1 line trigger) just for the super noobs like me. I'm sure I am the only person who would ever notice such a thing, or be helped by it.
You could also ignore my request, and I wont hold it against you ^_^
Alright, so I first played on EU, apparently the old version, and had much the same troubles that others had, which have all been fixed by the time I went to play on NA.
----------------------------
Points not mentioned before:
Once rocks collapse and seal off cave they still display healthbar even tho they effectively became a doodad at that point;
My default screen resolution is 1280x1024, during briefing objectives were anchored off-screen;
I played in the arcade, and when online - saving doesn't work. On one hand, it hint's that I should be careful about next part, on the other hand - you can detect if game is a local test and not display Ctrl-Q hints when functionality isn't available.
Zerglings in attack waves were normal strain while zerglings hatching in base were swarmling strain?
I didn't see any in-game benefit to destroying caves, so ditched those I could. I noticed there was a credits earned tab in score screen, but there's no indication that bonus objective affected it in the slightest.
----------------------
Personal preferences:
Would prefer if I could skip text by clicking on text instead of faraway button (1 click to finish text writeout, 1 click to skip to next sequence);
Decreasing starting minerals in base could hint to turtles that they don't need to mass 100 marines before heading out.
Do you have a marine range upgrade later in tech tree? Blizz added "superior warp gate" upgrade in campaign for casual and normal difficulty, you could do the same thing here for Glorn-level skilled players :D
Every time I watched intro cinematic I couldn't help but to feel that the nuking ghost would get killed as well from nuking at such short range t_t
To counter the achievement point - I didn't like when blizz added achievement preview into briefing rooms. It spoils what's gonna happen in mission for the player. And it also showed their own disregard towards their story/exploration element.
EDIT: If you do decide to show achievement preview during briefing screen, please require player to first click a button to reveal those achievement icons (which would be hidden by default).
----------------------
Other thoughts:
There isn't much of anything else to say about this. It's a first mission, it's well-designed and well-paced (for the most part, there was a bit of not being able to do much during base building part other than just stare at mineral counter, but that's acceptable. Usually you can balance base building with exploration of what's outside the base (that's the reason blizz just loved to put mineral pallets everywhere - so that players can explore map with minisquads while building forces to attack main base), but I feel it's ok to just chill at base during the first mission). It got good dialogue, nice background info for world building and is just overall a pleasure to play.
----------------------
Closing thoughts:
I really enjoyed it, the attention to details from briefing goodies to quality terrain to cart mechanic to tooltips on objectives give an impression that this is a labor of love, which is always heartwarming to see.
Alright, I'll make the briefing tests with that resolution, it should work with all the others if it works with it.
Yes, I was going to correct that, my plan was to enable auto-replaying and suggesting to continue from the replay.
It's possible, it's the campaign mod so those annoying bugs can happen, I'll take a look. EDIT: I believe that that's just the custom skin for the zerglings, I'll try removing the actor message from it.
That's because I haven't worked in the core of the campaign yet, my plan was to build 3-4 missions and start with the rewards, upgrades and the history between missions afterwards if I was still motivated (I have to confess that I wasn't until this thread was started).
Nice idea, I'll include it.
I believe that there are less minerals in higher difficulties, I'll have to decrease them even more. EDIT: I noticed they weren't decreasing, I'm fixing it.
Yes, I was just answering him when you posted.
It's OK, ghosts now when to run. I don't know if it's still visible, but in the cinematic he decloaks and is picked up by a dropship safely.
I was planning some kind of sheet mode, where you click and it expands, right under the intelligence report.
Thanks for your time (wow, 3 recordings!) and positive review.
You all are giving me the motivation to keep going with the next mission, I've already planned a mechanic to spice it up a little.

I agree with this. Not knowing the achievements until the end inspired me to give it another go. "What, there are crows I can scare?! I'll sacrifice Warfield a few more times to kick some chickens!"
One thing you may look into is having second pages and perhaps a next page button for the briefing and some intelligence reports (at least, for those things that are cut off).
I've tested the new version, here are my feedback.
- Awesome briefing room! but please consider altering the difficulty select feature, perhaps change the 'dot' to different color.
- Love how you add the 'how to' video to your map.
- Consider to widen the objective pathing to the 5th and 6th blocker.
- Great 'shortcut' with the teleporting unit, well done.
Grammar :
Nah, just kidding. I am not the one to properly do that, since I also have many grammar error with my HoD campaign.
The bugs :
The newer version. Couldn't beat it, I've waited for half hour build lots of supply depots and lots of marines but the invisible blocker won;t let me pass.
I haven't published the new version with a darker background. It will surely fix all the issues.
Oh, those are copied from standard blizzard maps, I might make my own for the following missions.
The area is supposed to be hidden, that's why the path is narrow.
Thanks!
Oh, I can see in your screenshot that the enemy didn't start building the base. That's really strange, I'll have to check it out, but I'm kind of blind with this bug.
Here is my playthrough. I think I played the second to last version?
Fun and polished map. I just hope you continue this campaign! My only real complaint is that there is a pretty big lull in the action once you take command of the base. I suggest letting the player start with 2 scvs inititally loaded inside the CC.
Also, what is the significance of SC2Bis?

I would prefer not to, it wouldn't look clean. I might use a scrollbar, tough. It's that or making the space bigger.

Thanks for your time EDHRIANO.
