I'm doing let's plays, guides, and reviews of SC2 Arcade maps! I am also part of the Loladin guild which regularly plays arcade maps in a group. This means that I can get a video of multiplayer maps as well as singleplayer maps.
Here is an introduction to the SC2 arcade map "Fellowship of the Ring" including games from 2 different factions. A lot of my videos focus on the maps Star Battle X, Heroes of the Storm, and Overwatch.
My videos will usually be in 1080p and have voice over of my impressions as I play.
My youtube channel is here if you would like to subscribe.
If you would like me to play/stream/review your map, give me the name in this thread!
Edit: Please be sure to indicate the range of players for the map in your request! Thank you!
Hey Funky! I did actually try Banshee Fight a few days ago with a friend (unfortunately my stream didn't quite separate it into its own video properly). Around 00:35:00 in this video I did record my first impressions of that map. It seemed interesting but I think the UI was a bit too fresh for my friend (Windu a Star Battle player), and even after checking the help I could not actually figure out how to upgrade anything. If you could give a few tips before I go at it again I'd appreciate it.
it's auto upgrade whenever you level up (kill banshee or collect level up). buying is done with buttons A S D F G and you must set the dialog to BUY (mid mouse button). i will try to improve the control in the future.
powerups are visible on the minimap as point and circle. if you collect the red circle a nuke would start from your base and hit a random enemy. missile can be shot down.
Awesome, it's great to see people want to test out games!
If you get a chance, try Death By Fantasy by me, Wargirl, and Moustro. It supports 1-4 players and it's a cooperative action game. Super easy to learn. (US Server)
Nice to see more people do let's plays and videos in general about SC2 mods, heh.
If you have the time, perhaps you can try out my map as well? It's called Orion: Ground Zero, it's a coop altered melee map with subfactions. Here's the US link: starcraft://map/1/235689
I'm doing let's plays, guides, and reviews of SC2 Arcade maps!
Awesome! Best decision of your life! :)
My newest stuff is my mapsters single player campaign I've been working on. Click on my name to check it out. You can either play in the arcade (links on project page, or just look under the single player category in the arcade), or you can download the files and play locally. The main cost/benefit is that locally you can save (ctrl+q is the default for quick saving), but the arcade is faster to start up a match. I don't know what skill level you are, but Brutal is meant to be pretty tough for even the best players. Hard should be beatable (albeit difficult though) by any good player who knows SC2 quite well. But feel free to bump it down to normal or casual too if you need to.
Hi, I've got a game called Dragon Escape [RTC] thats 2-4 players. It is a racing game for sc2. You can find more info in my signature like videos and descriptions, but here's the link if you don't need any of that: battlenet://starcraft/map/1/265841
Here's the first video of my playthrough of MaskedImposter's campaign "Mapsters," mission 1 being "Vespene Warlord." I played on Hard difficulty setting for this runthrough.
(A brief note, I will probably get to maps that are single player slightly faster than other maps, but I will definitely get to all of them that I can. Also, it would be nice if you could give the map names as they appear in SC2 arcade search and the range of players in the request).
The difficulty felt pretty good to me for Hard, it being slightly easier than Brutal in LotV campaign. I generally don't play "brutal" in the arcade just because loading and saving can be such a pain. For arcade campaign difficulty, I usually prefer a challenge that nonetheless can be beaten on the first attempt.
It's definitely a "crackling" map, zagara-esque from LotV co-op misions.
Video archive got a bit messed up in the stream, but here we go!
In this video, runs of Blitz Fire and Planetary Cleaning Service with my guest-commentator Luminous!
Planetary Cleaning Service starts at about 0:29:00
For Blitz Fire: Definitely is off to a great start, wouldn't mind harder difficulties where you have more units to control.
Planetary Cleaning Service: I think a clearer sense of how the dropships work would be nice, having one guy buy Thors and having that take up the entire drop ship seemed really distracting.
I also wouldn't mind a game mode where you clear the entire map.
(the lobby join breaking at the beginning was just SC2's engine, not the map)
The stream upload decided to be funky so it includes a bunch of footage after this, but Death by Fantasy goes from the start to 0:44:00 (hence the preview image being off).
(As with other videos, there's a bunch of footage after the end of the rest of the stream; the Banshee Fight section is from the start for the first 28 minutes).
So I did two matches of this vs. Luminous to try to get a grapple on the purchasing system and everything else. I don't know why exactly but having it auto-buy ammunition when you mousewheel click next to the base seemed REALLY unusual to me.
Beyond that we seemed to have some sort of glitch with the nukes (start watching around 0:27:00 to see this) where I would die and the nuke would launch-post death (for a game win as it were).
Now that I finally have a grapple on the purchasing system, the game does seem to have a lot of strategy, but I would definitely overhaul a lot of the UI for this to be user-friendly and probably redesign the purchasing system. I would rather just have a button to click for buying nukes honestly, there's a risk that if you mouse-wheel-click too slowly you'll waste money on the wrong type of ammo.
I also still don't quite have a grapple on how much more damage G-ATA does over ATA, and I think mines NEED to be able to be spawned in the air so that you can inhibit nukes that skip the bunker and the lane and just go right for your starport.
I've been working on my map "Blademaster" for the last couple months and it would be awesome to see you playing it! It's some kind of action rpg built around the blademaster from wc3. I implemented both a storymode as well as a versus mode, so you dont need to worry about additional players when trying this. Its uploaded both on the US servers ( battlenet://starcraft/map/1/264157) and the EU ones ( battlenet://starcraft/map/2/183127 )
Would be honored to see you playing my map :) TheUltragon
You had me worried when you wrote "most critical review yet!"
Thanks so much for giving Death By Fantasy a playthrough! I'm actually quite impressed by how you guys did, you're practically pros. And I'm glad you guys liked the exposition attack - I was worried that might be a little too abstract, but it looks like it hits its mark.
I agree that replay value is where the game has troubles, but luckily for the sake of the competition all that matters is the Blizz guys have a good time on their first playthrough...
thx for playing! it is very helpful to see where ppl get stuck.
PCS has 3 objectives, you can wait for rescue mission, kill all enemies or harvest enough creep to bail out. you did win because the timer ran out.
i have a similiar system in queen survival ( i fixed it now), there are 3 possibilities to win.
banshee fight is far from being where i want it to be but thx for playing it anyway. it's basically a proof of concept that it is now possible (patch 3.0) to track mouse position of players without lag.
In this 4-player racing arcade map, dragons attempt to reach the end of a lap first to complete each circuit. As a reward for first place, players can unlock new dragons!
I think this map does what it wants to do pretty well for the first circuit. My biggest concern is that it's easy for victory to snowball once you unlock the speed boost red dragon, mostly since the speed boost is more consistent than the teleport which bugs out about 50% of the time. Of course I also was pretty bad at this map, but for a game meant to played with friends, you don't want victory to snowball so fast since then people will get angry :P
In this co-operative mission, players choose from different factions to beat back a zerg force while using exciting new units!
(This video like others has additional footage from the rest of the day due to a bug with the archive upload. Orion: Ground Zero runs for the first 39 minutes of the video). This one is also with Luminous but I didn't have him on voice chat quite yet.
There was one bug that hit me early: the difficulty screen pops up right as a player would normally be selecting mining units, so we ended up on "Toasty" without really knowing what that would mean.
Despite this, the difficulty felt more or less fine. Even once I had an elite force of doomsday air units, I still had to check the affixes of the zones to make sure there was not "damage return" since that would wreck my high damage units.
The biggest issue I had with the map was actually the constant lighting changes. I honestly had a hard time looking at the screen when it feels like everything is going from super saturated green to practically purple over the course of a few seconds.
