I've done some extensive research and may finally have stumbled upon something that fixes it. It mainly seems to happen with the snow levels (6 and 9), which uses the tileset Niflheim.Everyone whose has had a problem with "Param/Value", download the file and try. The map is designed for feedback only, so I will need to know if it worked or not, Once I know enough, I will add it to the main file. If it doesn't work, I may have another solution, though my editor is being a bit uncooperative at the moment, so it will have to wait for the time being.
@ Bilxor: As far as number 9 goes: you're not thinking like an infiltrator. You can't just charge in the main opening.
MY suggestion is to abbandon this niflheim tileset, also our sc1 remake ita team had a lot of problems with that tileset,i will try this new version of the map 6
If nothing else works, I just might. It's not vital for the missions to have snow. But it looks so awesome. Maybe I'll just wait for HOTS and use Kaldir.
By the way, the version I uploaded might still be troublesome for US players. The reason the "Param/Value" error happens is because of language localization or something. The editor does not support multiple languages or something, so a map created by a person in one area might not function completely when played by a person in another.
"The editor does not support multiple languages or something, so a map created by a person in one area might not function completely when played by a person in another." this explain a lot of problem that i had in the past :/
Mission 6 is ok,but on mission 7 i can't understand how to esc from the 1st room, there is 2 computers,i open the second computer and gain some info but not the doof open D:
Mission 7: You'll just have to look around. The hint is in the mission tip. Once you've seen the recording, there should be someone moving in the shadows, providing you with subtle directions.
mission 6 works now and mission 7 is now finished,i am going to do mission 8 i expect drops and tanks from the enemy :D,bro your terraining is impressive!!! I must take some notes from your maps, the textures and doodads are really well placed!!!
I don't know why but at minutes 1:03 the mission 8 alwais crash me,probably is because my pc is a total crap, also with all settings at low it crash :/,i can't understand why only this map, probably is the high number of units, doodads, triggers actors and other things
It crashed for someone else too at the exact same moment, so it's not just you. I shall look into it myself.
EDIT: Yep, it crashed for me too. I did make some changes to mission 8 without testing it. I thought they were so minor it wouldn't be a problem, but I guess I was wrong there!
EDIT 2: I think they crash because of the attack wave triggers, which all start to run at about 1:03 after the opening cinematic is finished. There are 5 of them in total, which I split into 15 and separated by 1 second, but it still crashes. I might have do them all over again.
@ DEFILERRULEZ: Should you try it, you might have the same problem with mission 9 as with mission 6. I will try to fix that too.
EDIT 3: Nope, it still crashes. It noticed the soundtrack kicks in at the same time. It might be that.
EDIT 4: It's now fixed. It appears it was the soundtrack. For some reason, it crashes when I ask it to fade out, which is the most random thing ever. I will play out the rest of the mission later to see if there are more bugs, but I doubt that.
Yes, but it's not uploaded yet. You can fix it yourself if you go to the trigger editor, find "01 Music" and delete the "Fade out" action. I think that will work. If it doesn't, remove the trigger altogether.
EDIT: No, ignore that, it was something else. Checking it out now.
Okay, bannanabrain. I finished mission 6 but with 7 you really blew it. How the fuck am I supposed to keep the game from dropping to 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 fps with so many infested terrans on the map?! Are you out of your fucking mind?!
How good is your computer? Maybe lower your settings?
The Infested Terrans were not a problem for me, and it's not like there aren't more units on other maps. But I'll look into that too. I presume Veil of Frost worked fine?
There's no need for that tone. I put a lot of work into this, and you get to play it for free.
I think I've managed to fix the "Param/Value" errors, which previously appeared in mission 6 and 9. If they should appear again (which could be the case for 9), let me know, because it's not that hard to do once you know the procedure (but it's easy to miss a step or two and therefore blow the whole deal).
Janus has by request been given 120 HP in Veil of Frost, as he should have.
Mission 8 should be fixed, and should be possible to run without errors, but I haven't had time to actually see if the mission is possible to complete or not! I'd very much like some feedback on that. When testing it, I had to run it over and over to see if it would crash, and therefore cut some time by using cheats, consequently making actual play-testing impossible.
It's not an easy mission, nor should it be. I did complete it once before, but have made some untested changes since then (the first mission had no attacks for the last 10 minutes, which was a bit odd). I'd like to see you put in some effort as well. Failing the mission on first try does not count as a failure on my part.
Hmm, maybe it was an error or something because I swear to god, there were so many infested terrans clogging the whole area that it would've been hilarious if it hadn't caused the game to all but freeze up. And more and more of them just kept coming. It was crazy! XD If it happens again I'll post a screenshot so you can see.
@EivindL: Go
You could make a unit load check before spawning more units. Simply check how many units the owning player has (its supply count) and only spawn more of its less then 50 or so. Then it will never overload and become 100s. If you want to make the experience more intense for the player, either by using a drop-pod or "underground" spawn (construct it underground - dig up - attack). That looks way better than just spawning them :)
They are already unburrowing. That, or they're coming through holes in the walls or open doors. I might look into the numbers.
EDIT: Btw, does anyone know where the previewer went? Can't find it anymore. It was really useful. :-/
I would also like to know which mission or missions people like the best, both story- and gameplay wise. :) Storywise, I'm fond of #5, though #7 has some cool turns as well. As far as gameplay goes, I really like the intense missions, such as #3 and #9.
My favorite was the one where you have to destroy the zerg bases to pinpoint the infested transports. I liked your macro missions more than the strike force style ones. I wish I could play that one that always crashes at 1:04 minutes in (mission 8 I think).
