Maybe set the speed to faster by default, the game seems to crawl otherwise. Also, I played the 4th mission 3 times and every time it crashed as the ending cutscene started, not sure what's going on with that. Also, on the snow level, all the text is messed up in cinematic speech, mission objectives, all that stuff. It says like Param/E873R/124001B instead of whatever is really being said.
The game speed is something to think about. It was always on the fastest for me.
You're not the first to have that ending crash. I have no idea what happens, honestly.
The text in mission 6 was covered just a few posts ago. Again, I don't know how to fix it, I'm really not that technical.
EDIT: Any help on fixing issues like this would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT EDIT: Mission 10 is pretty much finished. I postponed mission 9 because I couldn't figure out how do it, but now the solution has hit me straight in the face, and I can't believe I didn't think of it sooner! If things don't get too out of hand, I might finish this before February.
Cool. Small errors aside, this is easily one of my top 5 fav campaigns I've come across in terms of polish. Another problem I noticed though: the buttons on the command card on the starport tech lab for banshee cloaking and and wraith cloaking take up the same square. correct that, too.
Oh, thanks for that. Yeah, upgrades and stuff like that tend to clump on when using several different dependencies, and they're so small they can go unnoticed.
The campaign is pretty much finished now. All that remains is some polish. It should be up sometime this week! I really hope people play it through to the end and leave feedback!
Also: I've asked before, but didn't get an answer, so I'll ask again: How do I remove a file? I have two now, and will end up with three with the release, but I'd prefer just one.
I would so like to play this but I've had some problems starting it.
I downloaded a .zip called "CrimsonMoon" that contained 6 missions, got mighty confused by the how to play as there was no mission launcher.
Later I found the "Crimsonmoon_V.2_.zip" file, I put them in the location and launched the mission launcher. However, As soon as it loaded (in Sc2, not the editor) I lost the game. (I don't know if it is the correct mission launcher or not. But it doesn't seem like)
:<
Edit: Clearly I'm dumb, I had to open it through the editor and then it loaded correctly. I'll edit a feedback when I'm done playing it :>
Okay, it's finially finished! I worked on this for over half a year. I don't think I've worked on anything for that long, certainly not a custom game campaign! I'm really happy with how it turned out (especially the action-filled ending to the ninth mission). The campaign should be playable without any noticeable bugs (though some might still appear here and there).
So, what's next, I wonder. I don't think I'll be making another campaign right away, though I wouldn't be surprised if the desire to create another suddenly arised. Seeing as there certainly is room for it, I might make a follow-up, though I also have the outlines to a Protoss story in my head as well. I'm certainly not doing anything before the release of HOTS, which hopefully will bring some inspiration, as well as new tilesets, units and other cool stuff to play around with. In the end, though, making a campaign is a TON of work (I'm not going to deny I was close to giving up some times, though it got easier the closer I came to the end), so I'll have to think it through.
I've also toyed with the idea of working with other people, which might take some of the load of my shoulders and also give me the opportunity to do things that was harder before (voice acting, custom art, etc).
just about to play the new missions, just had a thought:
why don't you utilize the Bank to make to make it so people can't just skip to the last level? or do you want to allow that freedom.
Since mission 5's ending is bugged and just crashes for me every time, and mission 6 has all the text messed up every time I play (Param error), I feel like I have no idea what's going on in the storyline, lol. Oh well, onward to 7. I can still look at the nice terrain.
Going to make edits as i complete missions. [SPOILERS]
7:
The tip at the beginning didn't really make sense, if something is helping you, you don't need to "beware" of it, maybe you meant "be aware?"
Was a little sad there's no life regen and no real healing besides a one-time pickup. Also, why does Janus have energy or have the ability to hold fire? The second viking slaughtered me because I thought it was rescuable like the first one. Also Janus attacks suuuuper slow, was that intentional? Looks like you put a lot of thought into the movement of the infested terrans, for the most part it played out nicely.
8:
More impressive terrain. At the end of the first cutscene, it might be cooler if the doors open when they are used (send an actor message) instead of just having the units disappear as they walk up to them.
When the game time reaches 1:03, without fail, the game completely freezes and crashes for me. Pretty let down by this.
9:
Return of the Param errors. Since this also affects mission objectives, I have no idea what to do. Also, it seems there's nothing I can do either, because I have one unit and I'm stuck between two enemy bases, each with tons of detection. :(
10:
I think you mean in the tip: Timing is of THE essence. The flashback sequences are cool. Maybe there's something I'm not getting because of all the errors in the missions leading up to this one, but protecting 6 SCVs from a small base of zerg doesn't feel epic enough to me for the final stage of a campaign. The part where you have to protect the SCVs is confusing and its more about memorizing which egg to attack at specific times through trial and error than planning a strategy. This was the last part I played. It's somewhat unclear which zerg are attracted to which egg being attacked and I lost a lot of times because of confusion. Also, Janus just feels weak with his super slow attack speed and zero health regen, but maybe that's intentional. He just feels like he should have something, like an ability or something to use all that energy he keeps generating on?
In retrospect, since you have a few macro-sorta stages, it would be cool if all the units weren't just direct ports from what you see in ladder and the WOL campaign. Some new upgrades or weapons or abilities or something would really spice things up.
People can skip to the last mission no matter if I make a launcher or not. They can just open the map in the editor, you know? :p Might as well make it fancy.
I PM'd you the details of what happens in the missions you missed. I'm sorry it crashes, I don't know how to fix it.
The tip is just a spelling error.
Who said there is just only one pick-up? I found more than that. Janus has energy by default, as with hold fire. Janus' attack speed, his life, all the other units' life is just as they should be. It's not an easy mission, but not impossible either. I wanted to up the difficulty a tad, seeing as it's on the back half of the campaign, so no medics this time around.
Actually, using the bank, you can make it so even if the map is opened through the editor it will not run without the preceding missions completed :) Don't want that to be the reason you wouldn't do it, just fyi
I have not finished your campaign but i noticed 2 errors,on final cinematic of mission 4 u will see the units "duplicated",and on mission 6 i can't read anything,only param/value/randomnumbers... :(
The double units: I think this happens because the trigger runs twice, therfore creating twice as many units (note how there is only one Janus, as he isn't created in the trigger). I checked the editor and found out that this is very likely the problem, so I added a condition which makes the trigger run only once, no matter what. This was a mistake I made a long time ago as well, where I learned that if you don't use such a condition, and have a trigger that creates an enemy Nydus Worm when one of your units enters a region, you will get a lot of Nydus Worms, seeing as they will be created every time a unit enters. Imagine how terrified I was bringing a little 10-unit brigade into the region and getting 10 Nydus Worms popping up, having expected only 1!
I have fixed this one. The reason I didn't do it earlier is because it doesn't always turn out that way.
The text thingy is probably what I hate the most. It suddenly started to happen with me as well one day, which almost made me quit the entire campaign, as I thought the maps had been bugged or something. For me, there is a chance it happens if I make changes to a map and then test it. Opening a map and not making any changes never induce the bug. I have done some research, and it appears it is common when a player from one region plays a map from another region. But doesn't explain why it happens with you, as you're Italian. Try restarting the map or opening it from the mission launcher.
Thanks for pointing out stuff like this. I truly despise errors, but I guess they have to be adressed. As I don't do much fancy stuff (no mods, for instance), I guess I'm lucky in the regard that I don't get a lot of bugs.
I assume that because you didn't mention it, the cinematic for mission 5 didn't crash for you?
nope all mission 5 is fine and funny (mass ravens trololol),ok i check mission 6 right now,i tryed to re-download the maps, but mision 6 is still bugged,i can't test the other missions because i don't want spoilers, the story is interesting (a thing that u see not often on single player campaigns,75% of times they have a very poor story to tell you) :D
nothing to say, mission 6 hates text but love param/value error,i do all mission with god mode cheat and at last i can't continue because i can't understand what the fuck my "boss" is telling me XD,i will not do the other mission until i finish mision 6 with text (ps is impossible do this mission without damage, and why healt of spectre hero go from 120 to the 80 hp of this mission??)
I got up to Veil of Frost and WTF?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All the text in the mission from the transmissions to everything else doesn't show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! instead it just says Parim/value/blablablah!!!!!!!!!! I cannot play the rest of the campaign without this fixed! WTF IS GOING ON?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
