Can't wait for HOTS to be released? How about playing this custom campaign? It's something I've been toying with for a long time, and although it's not finished, I decided I have created enough of it to give out a taste, hopefully motivating me more to get it finished. It runs at 10 missions.
As a mapmaker, I do not have the skills to make cool new mods or exciting features such as TPS or FPS mode. But I do not aim to be fancy either. Many maps feature astonishing work by talented people, but are less impressive on an aesthic level (a focus I actually find to be most prominent among melee map makers). I try to create as great terrain as I possibly can, in the sense that it is both functional and pleasing for the eye. A good story needs a believable world, and I have put a lot of hard work into creating one, also populating it with memorable characters that live and breathe beyond the confines of the story.
I hope you'll take the time to check it out, and possibly leave some feedback. And please do not just look at the maps as just maps, but as part of the larger story. I think there's something for everyone here. Faster, skirmish missions, and slower turtle missions as well. Some objectives are even a bit uncoventional (stealth, puzzle solving, stealth, etc).
Waiting for downloads and then I'll try it. I don't need nothing special just more campaign stories in which I can use regular SC2 Units will do for me :0)
This did not at all turn out how I planned it. It's my first time posting a map, so maybe I did it in an abnormal fashion. I did upload the file, and I have sent a PM trying to figure out what's going on. Sorry, guys. I assure you this thing is worth waiting for. Nothing tomorrow, and I'll use a separate site to post it while waiting for this thing to work out.
That link worked. I'll try it out tomorrow, now it's sleepy time :)
And my project is also awaiting approval so it is not just you. I wonder if there are fewer moderators to do these chores now. And if there are, it's probably because there are lower activity now before the expansion. What is the term they use, "pre-expansion lull"?
Played the 1st mission. Very clean terrain. It's indistinguishable from a blizzard campaign map. My only gripe is it's annoying to have the "your allies are under attack" sound the entire time. You should use the "set alliance aspect" trigger to enable vision & alliance separately.
You should post this on sclegacy too if you want a better review of the characters, story, etc.
This is quality. The terrain is great, and filled with details. And I love the way you zoom in on the surroundings during the cinematics, which togheter with the sound and music really set the mood.
Hmm strange. Guess I'll try it again later. Odd thing is first time I tried it on the SC2 Switcher shortcut, before it patched, the water was fine but after the patching it was pink. Weird. Maybe I'll try a fresh download of the maps *shrug*
I've begun working on the 7th mission. However, I've run into some trouble. I usually copy+paste lighting and other types of cameras from other maps, but this time it's not responding. Example: I'm trying to use the lighting from the Tyrador mission, and in the editor, it shows, but not in-game, which it usually does. The camera too, which is supposed to be more zoomed in (ala Piercing the Shroud and Belly of the Beast), is just a normal game map camera.
So I redownloaded and started over from scratch and the water was correctly coloured :)
I've played the first two missions so far and really enjoyed it. The terraining is beautiful to play through and lots of clever uses of doodads! :)
My one complaint is in the first mission Ryan at one point just suddenly spouts some exposition about the Miners with nothing to prompt it, it just came across as a bit forced to me, sorry. Otherwise I'm really enjoying it!

Look forward to trying it out, but is the download link up yet?
Looks very promising. I'll be sure to look into it when it's approved :)
I've uploaded the file. It is just waiting approval.
Don't you post on SCLegacy as well?
Looks like it's approved, but still no download. And yes, I post pretty much everywhere. :P
There's a separate approval awaiting for the file. Hopefully, it won't be too long.
I post there as well, though I am Eivind there (Mohandar portrait).
You should post it to mediafire or something, this approval is taking comically long.

I'll give it a bit more time. I got the project itself approved, it's just the .zip-file that's taking so long (20 hours now).

Thank you. I won't be removing the alert. It creates a certain mood that illustrates just how deep a hole these miners have gotten themselves into.
I'll probably post the map everywhere. :D

Hey, I tried to play the campaign this morning but there was a patch for SC2 and now the water is solid pink for some reason :-/
That's odd. I'll see if I can't fix that.
EDIT: Tried it myself, and it was as green as it was supposed to be.
Played throught mission 1 and 2.

It is creepy and I love it. :)
