You might wanna make the team turns simultaneous.. a lot of people are terribly impatient.
As for 3rd person, I'm skeptical it would work for a game like worms. When they came up with worms 3d, I personally felt it overcomplicated the genre. It was fine as a 2d game. The third dimension just made it impossible to see where you were aiming at.
I'm going to agree with FuzzYD, make it a side view game. As for any multi-player scenario, turn taking is always going to be a pitfall but I don't think that simultaneous is an elegant resolution.

I agree that it should be simultaneous turns, unless there is some sort of fun minigame or something to do while you wait for everyone else.
