So, summer holidays are ending, which means I'll be going back home to my stationary, with which I can begin making the last four missions! I have about a month for each mission till exams start, which should be enough to finish this entire thing (if I'm not side-tracked by anything, which I doubt). Although I haven't written the missions per se, I know exactly where they will be going and what mechanics they will use, so there won't be a lot of stalling due to planning.
That pic reminds me of a "clean" version of Roverville. :D

To be honest, I'm still a bit up in the air on what terrain I want. The idea is to create a sort-of-holdout map within a city (with many different entrances, some of which your ally is responsible for), but that could mean a lot of things. I toyed with the idea of doing a regular metropolis (ala HOTS final mission), which I don't believe I've done before, or maybe like a frozen ice city (which I've sorta done before with CM06 and CM09). I also liked the 8th Odyssey so much that I pre-emptively told the maker I would rip it off, terrain-wise, which sort of explains what I'm going for in the picture above. But yes, it is a bit too... familiar. As I'm still undecided, all of this might end up changing completely.
Well, it really depends on the context. I don't know if there's really any story to your city or Centuria in general which would encourage any specific types of terrain.
I like the idea of a metropolis-like city. Would be cool to see your take on it. However, if you mainly want to switch from the Roverville type of terrain, you could add more textures that would fit in a typical city setting. Again, it really depends on what you think would fit the best as a Geraldus fortification. (Which I assume this is?)
The Port Zion textures makes it look more decrepit. More old and ruined. If you want to go for a more fortified stronghold, (which I think could fit well with Geraldus. I'm thinking a lot of the terrain used for CM08) I think you could make use of more clean and well-kept tile textures. It could be from some of the HotS Korhal maps, or even any other manmade terrain for that matter. This would give the impression of an area that is actually occupied by a greater force. (I assume Geraldus will be the main presence here)
You can go both traditional city-terrain if you make use of the various types of smaller buildings (as seen in the 8th mission of Odyssey) as well as huts or for a more armored and strong foothold by adding Tarsonis structures akin to those from CM08 and maybe even skyscrapers from Korhal? You can also go as far and make walls more defended by using the Wall Panel doodads. (I use these a ton in Annihilation to showcase the superior technology and equipment of the R.S.S.I)
This might be a little much to throw at you, but it was just some minor thoughts I had regarding city terrains in general. Hope it's of any use.

The terrain will inform the story, not the other way around. So if I decide to do, say, a lava setting, I will adopt the mission around that. No that it matters much, as the story beats that need to be hit are fairly simple, and not dependent on terrain. Also: no, it's not supposed to be a Geraldus fortification, just a place where a Geraldus militia hangs around for a certain time, and that could very well be somewhere decrepit.
I think I'll play around with it a bit and see what I like.
Edit: Think I found a look I like. Instead of just a big city, it'll be more like several small bases encircled by nature. I might try a sort of free, "multi-path" map structure, where you'll have several different roads to reach your goals, instead of just a straight, linear path.

Oh, so it's kinda like Engine of Destruction from WoL in a design-sense? Except for the fact that it's a forest instead of a desert, of course. :D
This looks very good. I don't recall seeing you use this type of terrain before, so that's always nice! Multiple pathways are always great, as well.
Yeah, definitely! Although, the outdoors in my mission will encircle the bases (in Engine of Destruction, they're basically just in the corner).
You've sort of seen it in Odyssey 08. It's so similar I'm almost considering a shout-out on the map page! Anyway, I had a bit of a stumble today; creating a lot of stuff, then deleting it, and then deleting some older stuff, before finally making some new stuff again. So it was basically 1 step forward, 2 back, then 1 forward again. That being said, I could easily finish the map by the end of next week.
The rest of the missions will all be done this week right? RIGHT??

Surely the perfect Christmas present would include some Annihilation missions too, no?
Anyway, AE07 is practically done, so work begins on AE08 – Valley of Blood as we speak. I've begun sketching it (see picture below), and I am currently making the starting base right now.
What can you expect? Well, this is the mission where Meridian finally unveils how he is taking out Geraldus from the inside! Also, bullies! Lots of bullies!*
It was DEFILERRULEZ' wet dream.

I'm back, and so is Meridian, Corelia and Cenereal, who are hunting for Ryan, the betrayer, further north in Centuria.

Seems like a mission where you have to kill infested Doc. Hanson while she is driving the Odin
