I am still working on the story. I have the first half finished. I still can't figure out a ending, though. I want one that is truly worthy of the trilogy. I'm sure I will come up with one soon enough.
As anyone who has played Amber Sun knows, the story has taken a dramatic right turn. I won't say what's coming (I left a clue back in AS08, though it's subtle), but I promise you that the plot twists will come quite early this time (so early that just writing about the plot would be a spoiler)! The tone will still be dark, and there are going to be some dramatic moments scattered throughout, but there might also be hope of some lighter moments too, as certain characters are offered the chance for redemption.
Gameplay is still up in the air. I want to do more boss fights, and I had hoped to do a mission where the first half is dialogue-based, meaning you can talk to characters and choose what you will say to them based on different alternatives. Other than that, I'm not sure. There might be some Protoss missions. I would also very much like to have the final missions be structured the same way as in WOL and HOTS, in the sense that they comprise three parts of one, big final attack.
I have begun working on some terrain. I have one map that is very Blade Runner-esque, and a Protoss installation based on a terraining style made by DeltaCadimus. I can post some pictures tomorrow of what I have so far if you guys want to see.
Nice to hear a third campaign is on its way! Assumed the saga would've ended with Amber Sun. Anyway, those screenies look very cool, especially the second one! Both look very atmospheric, nice job! :)
As for boss fights, if I were to suggest anything, how about multiple phases? (for major fights/"act" bosses at least) As in, the boss gains new abilities or something happens to change the battle when the boss reaches certain life milestones (ie, some areas become blocked off, something will periodically occur that will hinder you, etc). I think that'd make 'em more dynamic and fun.

Hmm, interesting. I like the little teasers we get. You barely give any information away other than a few quotes and maybe some pics. Nice way to capture one's interest. :)

That picture is from the first mission. I have finished the opening cinematic, then there's 2 minutes of gameplay following that, then there's another very cool cinematic following that which I'm still working on.
Btw, I will be requiring testers soon enough. Testers will be required to comment on story, gameplay, terrain, bugs, as well as other stuff. Must have played both CM and AS. First three to volunteer gets the position.
You know, playing through the campaigns made me realize Janus is the Schmuck to end all Schmucks.
Also, I wonder who the protags will be seeing as how the all but two of the named characters is dead and of the remaining, the one used by the player is indisposed.
Be sure to check out the extension mod: Hots Custom Map support on NA and EU, Despite the name it greatly expands the roster of options for the default 3 races and is updated all the way to NCO.

I think it would be interesting if you did a boss battle involving the player using a base as opposed to a single unit.
That is an interesting suggestion. Kinda like Safe Haven?

It's the Hybrid Lab Inner tileset (Immortal Forge I think it's called). The doodads are primarily from Ulnar.
I personally assumed both of the first campaigns were the last, but in the middle of Amber Sun I realized I had one more story to tell.
