Though there are two things bugging me:
For one, the repick host seems bugged. It would continue to pick the same guy over and over again (though there were 12 people playing).
And the second, which cannot be blamed on you: We need more players for this! ^^
the 30 seconds WAITS ruin this whole game. in a game you have to just wait half of the time since people wont vote and you have to wait the night looking the same boring stuff.
You should really do something about them
edit*
I wana say afte 2nd game it was really fun. The night time really kills it as said before. 15-20seconds is enough!!
probly 15 is the best sollution or maybe compromise to 17 (people dont realize to change that or skip night).
so yea. Weird game that can be extremely fun :) . Not many games in sc2 can make you laugh, but this one did. A bit hard to say if everygame is gona be so fun.
One of the best maps out currently, good job. I'd probably make the most demanded settings the default ones, in order to keep people from whining about the host not changing them every game.
And as another suggestion, I think you should replace the Graveyard list with any of the two.
A list of players with unknown as their roles until they're dead. Also a status of ALIVE/DEAD.
A list of roles with unknown as the players until they're dead. Also a status of ALIVE/DEAD.
That leads to less confusion as names aren't always seen in the game.
Also, why not display a chat log of everything in the end (Or at least the dead players chat log). It'll be interesting what dead players were discussing while the game plays.

Great game! Its a lot of fun with a full lobby, and trying to figure who is what.
As for the night time being too slow, a fix might to create a new chatbox just for the mafia team. They can click on it to make it active so all their chat messages appear there. Then click back to general chat box if they want to type on the main chat. That way, there's no need for night time discussion, they can decide beforehand.
there is no defense for anything if you are a type with no roles. even if you ARE a type with roles. as soon as you see that yellow flash, you might as well hit F10.
chat channels and voice chat ruins the game.
the most fun, well, any fun at all, that i had was when the game was brand new and people were playing it for fun instead of using OOG work arounds.
unfortunately, this game is not very exploit proof. and, the entire 8 hours it survived without people resorting to them proves my point.
this isn't a knockdown of your map. it's just not community proof. sorry. this map, in the current state, is already going the way of the do-do...
Love the game, I've played it at least half a dozen times now. Great Fun. And I really really love the music, it really cinches the whole thing. I'd also like to say I definitely approve of night sequences, and longer is better, I could barely discuss with the Mafia when I finally got them. You just need to make the visuals a bit more entertaining to appease people I think. I didn't actually realize it was possible to have more than one lynching a day, people always make it too short for that.
I have a few suggestions, my apologies if any have already been made
Try to make the Day -> Night, Night -> Day transitions a bit quicker. Sometimes I'm just staring at black for a little while, and although I understand this is because people are being killed in that time, I'm not sure all the time is accounted for, and it slows down the game somewhat.
Make the terrain a bit more interesting. Then people might get less bored at night. Instead of just generic housing, have different areas as well, like the docks, or the red light district, etc. The town also feels a little like a collection of RVs.
At the end of the night perhaps have a little cutscene for each player showing what they do/what happens to them. Honestly seeing a red screen when I get killed is a little tacky. It would be far more interesting if some guy shows up and shoots me, or plants a bomb in my house, or stabs me. Hehe it could be an interesting way to add some more unorthodox execution methods. It can also work for other roles, so that they don't get bored during that time. Investigator sneaks into a house, killers kill people, doctors check up on people, etc. And people who choose to do nothing just get a shot of them sleeping or something.
For players who take too long to decide their name, instead of making them Player X, assign them a random mafia-esque name. There doesn't even need to be a very large selection of names, it would just be better. Things like, Flint Bryne, Johnny Tightlips, Jimmy the Snitch, Vitter Di Maggio, William D'Amico, Fat Tony, etc.
Make the interface less colourful/sci fi, and more gritty if you can. Honestly I'm not sure why each role has to be a different neon colour, and if you think the different colours is really important than I suggest making them more dull. If you could make all the interface like the Innocent/Guilt interface. That would look really nice. Or just use more grey tinting.
Instead of a chat command, use an Edit Box for choosing your name. You could also considering making the game override the player's name formatting so that it has capitals and lowercase in the correct places.
Give the town a random name. Improving the RPing aspect of the game.
Add more built-in variants, people want to try some different things, but the variants they set up are so often unbalanced. I know DR's Choice is there, but still.
Night kind of feels like perpetual dusk, perhaps you want to make it gradually get darker and then lighter as day approaches. But the current way has it's own charm. Just something to think about.
Possible Execution Methods: Hangman, Guillotine, Stoning, Cremation?.
Perhaps add the scientist models to the pool of player models.
I haven't found people using voice chat or chat channels to be too much of a problem. In fact me and my friends always disconnect our voice chat when we play.
@Ardnived: Go
I'll just go by order of appearance:
1. There can be multiple trials, but only one lynching.
2. All the time IS accounted for. I need to give time to the people who have to read what their results were, such as sheriff.
3. Redoing the terrain to be perfect and thus redoing every single camera would take a long time. No, seriously; I'd have to put off updates for a WEEK to get the job done. Making the perfect, most amazing terrain possible might keep people occupied for a total of one or two games, but that's just about it.
4. Cinematics like that take a very long time to do. Not to mention I'd have to redo the terrain to do them in the first place.
5. There are random names now.
6. Interface will be coming along eventually.
7. The edit box item is pretty glitchy.
8. The town's name does not pop up much.
2. Just going to point out that this could be taken care of in the cinematics suggested, while keeping people entertained.
3/4. That's understandable, but it would be some nice touches, something to consider. Terrain can be improved over time. Or you could get someone else to help with it.
7. Ah damn, I was hoping to use those in my own maps.
8. Nevertheless, it's a small easy thing to add.

i'm sorry, what? yeah, i'm sure you do... o.O
no. people abuse the game with OOG exploits ever since the map was published.
Hey, a neat feature you could do is the ability for an individual to disable night scenery. That'll be pretty easy. Just set player group to a variable called "PlayersWhoWantToSeeUselessScenery" and remove the ones who disabled it.

Do a inteligent A.I that talks and stuff...so we could play it with A.i when low in players..:D
And I'll also invent teleportation and make a time machine.

Make a list of roles present in the game. And make a game mode where roles are random and unknown/unlisted or something.
Oh and people are starting to use voice chat to play with your chat restrictions.
Member since 2010. Made the -The Thing- [Revival] game. Nostalgic of the WC3 days.
@zenx1: Go Are you aware that the mafia talks and plans during the night? They can't do much discussion in 15 seconds.

That's also pretty rigged. It's basically easy, group PMing, which I definitely want to avoid.
Just an update:
Mafia: Lies and Murder is now published on SEA :)

Yeah and I can disable day scenery, too! And executions! Might as well have an option to disable the entire graphics engine while I'm at it.
@DarkRevenantX: Go
Yeah and players should be able to disable sound, chat, text, and dialog boxes too! (Kidding)
Why would a camera panning across scenery cause lag? I've never had a problem.
