Currently my converter is outdated for new a format introduced around July. that format added elements like Cloth physics and some other new things which are not supported by sc2. i haven't had the time to finish reverse engineering the new header. Therefore I can't do the conversions. If you can find an old alpha build and extract the models from there, it should be able to transform it to Sc2 format. i'm sure there's a build somewhere in the internet.
It's winter, there is snow, this is offence to not have a snow map now and I love snow <3_<3
Does any1 know if textures are accessible and what corresponds to some specific terrains so we change them into snow and ice? I was thinking of the Cursed hollow replacement.
I suppose you could use the snow textures from HOTS and use them for... God damn you blizzard for making these names so confusing.
Yes they are... for example for the Raven's map I found these are the terrain textures: storm_ravencourt_1.dds to storm_ravencourt_8.dds. These are the diffuse.
I think they are the same way in SC2 cause I also had difficulty changing or recoloring them in sc2: they are invisible, one has to change their transparency level to see what terrain texture they are.
The problem is that CASC viewer can only view them, there is no tool that can add or remove data. Is there a way I can replace the textures in the data like it was done with MPQ?

No because the archive system is self-repairing to some degree. If it detects damage (hash mismatch) it will re-download a repair automatically. It can even be hot patched (Blizzard can roll out hidden patches).
You either need to use local files or it will not work at all.
How can I use local files? What about the offline / leaked version, is this local files? It hardly uses bnet to repair itself but I don't see how I can replace any textures.

What are you talking about? The game is pretty much online only and if you were invited to the alpha (soon beta) then it will be available to download.

The CASC file system is heavily reliant on cryptographic hashes. These hashes are downloaded in huge sections from BattleNet and make up the core of the archive system. If it detects corruption (hash mismatch) then it will re-download the corrupted file from BattleNet. Since this is done for each resource loaded the chances are that it will detect any modifications to the file system and automatically reject them, replacing them with fresh downloaded versions which are not corrupt. As such the system is completely auto-repairing, one of the many major reasons Blizzard is migrating all their current games from the MPQ system to CASC. Obviously if you play offline nothing stops you from modifying the hashes as well as the data however since Heroes of the Storm is only really playable multiplayer then you are forced to go through the auto-repair system of CASC.

There is/was a way to play the game, even if it was against bots, so yes you could play the leaked version offline, however, the newest build (33353 or something ) does no longer support that :/

But the old version still works. It really doesn't matter which one is used, right now I think there is no tool to replace files inside, unlike MPQ. Even Ladik's CASC tool is only view and extract, not delete/add like the MPQ.
Nice models, 2nd is Tyrande's tiger in a new skin?
I tried to extract that particular folder as a whole and I did it with two versions but the result is the same . Maybe I am missing something? I downloaded the cascviewer and then I choose to open heroes storage from the viewer and I get tons of folders. Next I just try to export
Since Heroes of the Storm was updated recently it is possible the CASC viewer might no longer work properly with it. Both Heroes of the Storm and CASC viewer are betas after all.
Maybe you are right but I just got the newer version of the viewer and it works! I used 1.0.0.16 before
Version 1.0.0.18
- CascLib now determines default storage locale and uses it when 0 is passed as dwLocaleMask
- Fixed bug in CascOpenFile that prevented files from Heroes of the Storm to be open
Hi guys, I hate to necro old threads, but I've been trying for months now to get my hands on the m3 modelfor ranger general sylvanas from HotS. (trying to get it to .obj for pepakura)
I tried 3 different CascView programs but none of them work, I keep getting errors when trying to open the storage. I even tried reinstalling HotS. I'm sadly not that computer-savvy so it's driving me up the wall right now.
Is there anyone that could help me get this model?

I am not sure if you can replace textures unless there is some form of "local file" support.

No idea if the game supports it.

Don't know, looks more like a Siberian Sabretooth from Pandaria :)
Btw I can confirm that there is a white tiger and a green one aswell
But (I haven't looked) it would do aswell
I really like the fell orc (aka Thrall skin)

Hey there!
I am having some problems while extracting Hots models. When I hit extract a get this kind of error :
Tried many random files with different extracting settings , nothing helps. Also I have official latest build of Hots and older version as well.
Do you guys know how to fix this ? Maybe I am doing something wrong? There is also no list file for the Hots.
Did you try selecting base.stormassets and then pressing extract ( sry forgot to look at it yesterday)
