I AM BORED OUT MY MIND! HELP ME FIX THAT! It's summer and I'm sitting in front of a computer. I was thinking of going to Pennsylvania but I need other ideas too. I like millitary, history, fast cars, gaming, etc. etc. Typical 17 year old male stuff basically. Not too into sports though.
It needs to be within like a 6 hour trip from Massachusetts and it has to be in the USA
Not sure if your looking for a game on the computer but....
WoW is now free until you reach level 20, so that's 20 levels worth of game you can entertain yourself with. And Team Fortress 2 is now free....Not the best news ever but...might help?

Don't get a new game or a book or watch a movie...GET OUT OF THE HOUSE! Six Flags is a good idea. I remember one summer in middle school, my friends and I tricked the amusement park to giving us season passes for like $25 and then went every day. Best money I ever spent.
I don't have an aversion to reading. I have an aversion to America's youth all turning into cave trolls. Just because you're a computer nerd doesn't mean you can't make time to go outside where the girls are. I'm telling you, go to Six Flags or the mall or anywhere other than your room. Any girl you see that you think is good looking, go up to her and introduce yourself, but don't ask for her name. If she tells you on her own, she's yours, if not, move on to the next one.
I promise, you'll have a hell of a lot more fun than reading any book.
Depends. I know I wouldn't. Fact of the matter is that I can't be arsed with most people. Before I ever went out I predicted how it would be, and when I did go out a couple of times it ended up being exactly how I predicted. It's not to say there aren't cool people out there, or that you shouldn't do stuff with your friends, or that you shouldn't at least try hanging outside, but this forced "if you're young and you have a PC you should go out!!! It's good for you!!! It'll be fun!!!" doesn't help anyone. If you don't like going out as a person, you're not going to enjoy it, no matter how often someone tells you that you will. There's people out there who just prefer doing indoor stuff - just because you don't, it doesn't mean that someone else can't. Why not let them be? You can always tell them to go outside every once in a while if it really becomes problematic.
I totally agree with you. Emphasis on the "get out once in a while". But if you don't like going outside all the time, why should you? I mean, there is a reason why the indoors was invented, and that is because the indoors is awesome. It is unhealthy to stay inside ALL the time though. I mean, every day for an hour is all you need to be "healthy", and then just hang out with friends playing video games or whatever inside. Seems to work for a lot of people. (I personally could never do that, I need to be outside a lot. That is just who I am)
Saying that someone is a "cave troll" is a bit harsh, but other than that I agree with some of what you are saying. Getting outside is crucial, but it doesn't have to be in the ways we are suggesting. Sitting outside reading or doing whatever is fine, and then playing video games is fine for social aspects of it. (As long as you are actually with the people, talking online doesn't count)
I'm hardly sitting there for fun, I got no ideas about where to take a trip. Thats the whole point. I'm not in the mood for gaming anymore latley. Shocking I know but...
try and get other (close in real life) people to get "into what you like" (getting a mapmaker club or a car enthusiast club set up is "work" but so much more rewarding than just joining one (you can also try that and find out every club there is in your area, and i do mean "do the leg work" and get to see them for real)
in any case (i'm a little worried no one's said it already): do stuff that will involve "opening up" to people (whatever the age, yours or not)
girls (previous post was a bit blunt for my taste on the subject but i 300% agree with it's spirit)
books: read old books (forget about current headliners): most sherlock holmes or "ten little niggers" or "1984" or "brave new world" or any parker by Stark or Sun tsu (art of war) or many many many others (the whole idea of "old" might seem weird to you at first, but once you fall into the habit, the sky is not even the limit :) trust old shit heads like me, certain books are worth so much i am writing this post for you)
furthermore: select a place where there are girls, and read there ;^p (trust me it works on so many levels i'm amazed i'm sharing this to potential evil teens here ;) )
travel (sightseeing with a side of books and girls anyone?): just oogle what you indeed can go see (mmm cartography is so underrated i'm sobbing right now)
then, make up potential journeys (preparing is half the fun).. if you do it by car or (better if you do it cycling or even on rollers)
games: get your but on jade's photon cycles and get hooked... i did ;^p
last but not least.. think and dream
ps: get your butt going to get a girl (my personnal favorite, married now so its no longer possible for me, but i still remember)
the sheer amount of endorphins you'll get just from going up to one (that you fancy) and asking for directions/information and then admitting to her that you felt compelled to talk to her.. that amount is enough to give anyone pause/respect
aaaaa!!! best natural high you'll ever get.. and (wait for it).. cost: only guts and wit!! (not to mention, the more you do it, the more you get "acceptable" results.. until you do make it and then.. again nothing compares to that shit)
ps: i'm assuming you're a heterosexual, nothing to say if you are not, that you should not take exactly the same advice (only be careful, its 10 times the work if you're not)
Ok let me make it a bit more clear. I am planning on going on a trip with my father to Pennsylvania in a few weeks if all goes well, but that isn't the entire summer. There is plenty of other time I can use to do other things as well. I thought of 6 flags myself actually, but making myself feel like I'm going to throw up isn't the greatest experience, although it is fun once in a while. The reason I said 6 hours is that I asked mom if I could go to somewhere like LA for a weekend but she was all like "be more realistic." Don't even get me started about what she said about Germany, lol. Anyway I am just looking for a few ways to kill a couple of days and beat back this boring feeling I have been plagued with. I am not hetero lol. I talked with a few at my school and I am NOT like them. I drool inside my mind while looking at good looking females, not guys.
I probably should just look for a job or something to earn the gaming laptop I've been eying, but I wanna have a little fun too :)
Hahaha, it's an exaggeration, yes. It's an exercise in getting someone who's shy or not as outgoing to talk to girls. Of course, not every girl will jump into bed with you just because she'll tell you her name. The idea is that A. you've initiated the conversation and B. have some kind of gauge to know whether to continue or move on. All in all, it's a numbers game. As the old adage goes, if you ask 100 women to sleep with you, 1 will say yes.
Going out and being social is like any other skill, it takes practice. Most people don't enjoy themselves when they go out because they don't know how. I know that sounds a bit odd, but having fun isn't about what you're doing but about how you're doing it. When you go out predicting that you're not going to have a good time, you probably won't.
I am a computer nerd to the bone, but I can still go to the bar and talk to girls, make new friends and be other things than a computer nerd.

Get a book. Six hours isn't very long....
@Varine: Go
Lol he is asking what to do this summer, and if he is leaving ,that it has to be within 6 hours from Massachusetts.
My advice? Six Flags. Get a season pass and a premium flash pass, and go there every day for 3 weeks. Now THAT is fun. (About $200 for everything)
Great to be back and part of the community again!
Well he could have made it more clear. Anyway a book is still a valid idea....

Touche lol

Or google movies. Or a series you've been wanting to watch.

I am guessing Vortexx has never had a girlfriend based on the advice that if she gives you her name she's 'yours', but whatever.
Go to Canada. Or the coast. Build a CNC or something.
