I need to have a unit automatically attack any of that player's units in range.
I have created a custom weapon with scan and target set to player, and I am able to manually target player units with that weapon. However, the unit equipped with it does not automatically attack when other player units come in range.
Does anyone know where I can set this?

Hmm. I dont know if it is possible to make a weapon autocast on allies. But you could make an ability (effect - target) autocast on ally units. You can also add attack animations for that ability in the events of the actor for your unit..
