Smash T.V. was by far the best map on sc1 and I am saddened to see it has not been remade. I have such a strong passion for this map that I would like to help assemble, brainstorm and spend lots of time to have it made. I do not have any knowledge of creating maps, but I am willing to learn with a group that has a strong desire to put out successful maps, as I have longed for a SC2 version of this popular map for quite some time, and even installed sc1 not too long ago to play it.
There were multiple versions of Smash T.V. on Starcraft 1, but a brand new game along with the same concept is promising and I have no doubts it will become the most played game on Starcraft 2.
Can tell you right now you don't need a group with strong desire to put out a Smash TV map of the quality I remember in Starcraft 1. Sure they were fun little maps, but I'm pretty sure Marine Special Forces overtook them at some point. Anyways, I dislike terraining and planning out rounds/stats of particular units, and I'm not all that fond of balancing either (making slight changes all over to make the game more even, more fun, etceteras). If you are willing to do that much, I could probably make the data/trigger parts happen for you without too much difficulty in the near future if you that driven.
There was a Smash T.V. remake that I played a year ago. Perhaps it's no longer on B.net but it did exist at one point. The problem was the game was very boring and repetitive. The initial cutscene seemed to be take more work than the entire game.

It seems as though the project has come to an end.

Yea, I saw that one, was repetitive as hell. I agree, I'm sure they spent more time on the opening than the actual gameplay to be quite honest.
