Here is the thing - I have a game planned out pretty thoroughly. I need help doing the map though, because I lack the time. It's not that I have so much else to do, but I have a pretty tight deadline.
I need people for:
Discuss aspects/mechanics of the game with me
Terrain
Actors
Lore
Gameplay: Two players engage in 1vs1 melee combat. Each side is joined by 3 heros who will help accomplish the standard melee goal (destroy all enemy structures).
Right now I need someone to do the terrain. Preferably someone who did several melee maps before.
As for Actors - I just need someone to add visuals and sounds to my heros, because I lack the time to do all myself.
In terms of Lore - I need a creative mind to come up with a story for my game and also a NAME for the game.
I had exactly that idea a while ago :D Though in my mind heros were supportive rather towards the beginning (...helping to collect minerals, increasing building speed,...) and combative towards the end, but whatever.
The reason I didn't care too much about the idea was, that I suck at creating abilities. But I'm good at triggering, so count me in if you want! (I won't be having tons of time for the next month tho...)
I actually co-made this game. Only for mine, there was one player on each team that was a normal melee player, and there were two more on each team that would play as a hero. The melee player could then purchase upgrades for the heroes and it added a new strategy to the melee game. It's called War of Duality (WoD) and is public on the NA server. I would highly recommend you try it out so you don't make the same mistakes that made me abandon the project.
It was really unbalanced. Also, we did not present the gameplay well enough, even with tutorials and tons of help text, so everyone complained that they didn't know what to do. I thought that is was pretty well explained and it was really obvious where to look for help, but it didn't help at all. Additionally, the character selection broke a lot for odd reasons. Other than that, it was a pretty fun game and I enjoyed it. Another reason I decided to just abandon it, was that my partner decided to focus on another project that was making him some money, so that partially went into that decision.
Edit: Also, I realized that when you have a map with more than 4 players total, it takes a really long time to get a full lobby. Honestly the accessibility probably was the biggest problem. There were so many people that just quit after saying what do I do? There's a huge dialog saying something to the extent of how to play, so I'm not sure how so many people failed to see it.
Yeah, I figured balance is a huge issue. It's so fragile even without the addition of heroes... I don't see why accessibility should be an issue though, I'll check out your map shortly :)
Heros and Commander-race are not tied. Heros get very similar base-values. The commander does not directly upgrade the heros. Heros can progress without the commander, but slower. Both can win without each other, but it's difficult. Description will tell to start game with even teams. Commander is force-chosen if noone selects it. If commander leaves, the game will go on but a hero player can take over the commander. Game can be played 1vs1, 2vs2, 3vs3 - but 4vs4 is advised. Items will be very straight forward until I see a way to make them interesting easily. Heros will always be rather squishy and never too fast to catch.
I think you would be better off asking for permission to use some of the already-made melee maps for Starcraft II or StarBow. There's hundreds of great maps out there, just waiting to get used, and they come in pretty much any size and variety. You can browse maps in the Melee Development subforum, or on any other melee-related site like sc2melee.net or teamliquid.net. I am the author of GSL Atlas and Sunfire, both being top 10 best rated maps of all time. While I would not like to contribute directly by signing up as a level designer (I spent 100+ hours working on Atlas alone), I would be more than happy to allow usage of any of my maps, and I know that every other mapmaker feels the same way. Just find a great map fitting your needs, and let them know you'd like to use it. I am sure they will agree to that.
My requirements are rather special, though I can see a few of your maps working out. I would change a few things. Usually the middle area of the maps I'm interested in has not enough to fight about, which would be an interesting factor for the game I am intending to create.
How can I contact a mapmaker anyway?
Another thing I wondered, can I use Blizzard maps?

Measures I am taking against what you mentioned.

I do not worry about accessability so much.
Updated OP with important changes.
Looking for a terrain expert now.
