I'm looking for somebody to redo the terrain (and doodads, foliage, etc;) for the game 'Formation Defense'. I've decided to give my old project some much-needed updating and the #1 priority at this point is terrain work. Up until this point, the game has looked very utilitarian. You can download the last released version of the map on this site, or you can search 'Formation' on Battlenet. Note that somebody named Spark has actually stolen it and tried to release it as his own (yet he forgot to remove my name from the loading screen...-_-) make sure you play the one made by Wingdnosring. I can't guarantee Spark didn't mess up the copy somehow.
History:
Formation Defense (soon after release)) reached 2700+ games played (in one day) and was briefly on the front page of popular maps. It is still played daily, despite the months without updates. I intend to raise it up as much as I can and give the loyal players something new to play with.
Project Details:
Ideally, I'd like each player's area to remain the same (in terms of shape and size) and I'd like the regions to remain where they are. The 'outer lane' that enemies and refugees run along should be wild and untamed. The style is ultimately up to you. It can have a jungle-like feel, or have lava that rises and falls over time. It really doesn't matter, so long as all effects that are added are purely cosmetic. I don't want the gameplay to be affected in any way.
Inside each players' 'base' I'd like a small city layout. Ideally (not set in stone, but I think it's a great idea), I'd like buildings to be added or upgraded within the city area when the player makes a change in their strategy, hires units, purchases mercenaries, etc; As the terrainer, you can find proper models that you feel would best compliment your design, which I will then use data to create and triggers to alter over time. If I go ahead with the 'ever changing city' idea, it would be nice to have protoss, zerg, and terran specific buildings, but we'll see how one set goes first.
Note that the bases do not need to be identical (though they can be if you wish). The empty areas off to the north and south east can be left bare or can be made to look wild like the rest. At the moment they serve no purpose.
If you are interested, post here or PM me.
I've attached a screenshot of the old, utilitarian terrain.
