I would like to regroup people that are interested in Mech type and futuristic type of games as well as old school arcade games with this spirit.
Basically I would like to make mappers life more simple. Creating some kind of organization that would share their resource and make resource specially for the organization.
So what kind of group is this ?
So, the features and conditions:
- Everyone with idea or experience withing limit can join the group. Where limits are something that is related with meches, futuristic wars, tanks... Starcraft 2 with more like only Terrain race as main race in the game or only pickable race. Terrain as game theme.
Teams inside organization/group. Each individual can achieve their goals(projects) easier with sharable resource and its own team.
- We would create our own resource specially for the organization, and those resource can be used in more projects. Resource can also be public, coz its good to share.
- Credits are going to the organization and mappers that are working on the project
- Cant remember more :)
As for as my idea goes, for project, I would like to create some kind of arcade game that we have been testing in Wc3 for past 6 months.
Gameplay is something like Robokill 2 with Mechwarrior 4 mechanics. Fast-paced gameplay aiming for fun with some tactical gameplay.
It also draws some gameplay from Tunnelers, upcoming game. Quite similar to be honest. Game just pooped up few weeks ago.
Everything is planned and fixed for the project to be ported into SC2. Well, the ideas, and some resource. What I need is more help from people that are willing and enjoying to make maps, models, concepts....
Some of my models for this project; Testing and things:
... and I will be making lots of futuristic models, tanks, meches, turrets...
I am playing MW4 MekTek for past 3 years and been hooked on Robokill 2 till I finished it xD. And I am Fan of Battletech universe..
I am modeling for past 3 years with some pauses. Soon I gonna start attending some high school related with 3d modeling and animating.
Some of Mech games:
Metal Warriors:
Cybernator:
Robokills 2:
Mechwarriors 4 MekTek:
Mechwarriors Living Legends:
And list goes on...
So if anyone is interested let me know. I will be glad to help with developing some of great ideas.ΕΎ
EDIT: Sry for block of test but its writing feature on this forum is kinda weak, I have to write codes instead using table for them :D .
Well i have an interest in mech and technology in general, i have plenty of design ideas if maybe not always the resources to implement them. My strong suit would be trigger work and scripting however i can do tasks in other areas. If you want to know more than send me a P.M..
I'm making an AoS(DOTA) style map, but instead of heroes, players control a giant unit that function like a Mech, where you can buy weapon systems, upgrade health and armor, stuff like that.
Here's the concept video.
Also:
I'm getting pretty good at the data editor, and I'm half decent with the trigger editor, but I absolutely suck at terraining maps. So if anyone is at least semi-capable at creating terrains, lemme know I have a project for you.
Well, IMO, AoS type maps or DotA type maps are getting kinda old.
I mean, why taking battletech universe and making AoS type map. Its somehow too passive.
There is almost no control over your mech.
Sure, I can help you with resources for that map.
But I prefer something innovative.
Basically what my plans are for project is to create some kind of community for all teams that are creating mech type or futuristic type maps making their life easier. So they dont have to struggle for resources and feedback. This way they all can help each others.
I'm more of a MechCommander/Battletech the board game fan than a Mechwarrior/Arcade shooter sort of gamer. Still I'll help with anything Mech related if I can, and custom 'Mech models would be totally awesome to use on any type of map. =)
I was actually thinking about a co-op Mechcommander style game for sc2 as well, but I'm trying to only work on one project at a time. :P
Plus I've been reading how much battlenet stinks at multiplayer FPS or WASD movement type maps because of the horrendous lag.
Well I posted that concept video (see above)
and here's another with actual Mech-type units.
The only relation to DOTA is that it's going to be an AoS style map. I'm pretty sure I'm not even gonna make the player units heroes with leveling and increasingly strong abilities.
And it's going to be 3v3v3 or possibly 4v4v4.
The focus is you get a Mech chassis, and you can modify and upgrade it in game.
Enemy swarming you with masses of units? Buy up a few machine gun turrets.
Other players sending their mechs in? Drop the machine gun turrets and buy some heavy weapons with bonus to armored/massive targets.
You're also going to be able to increase base health, armor, and possibly speed as you earn money.
There's going to be several chassis to start with, and I plan to give them a few abilities (stun/snare/sprint/targetted AoE/et cetera) but the main focus is buying the right mix of weapons, and upgrading those weapons as well.
Sounds good enough. I will help. Soon, I gonna finish model I am working on, so you will be able to use it. The one that is similar to madcat a bit. like a bit more heavy mad cat. Or some mix between MadCat and SuperNova.

I could join.
Oh, also state your reason for joining.
I dont want people without that just want to join without any good reason. Will and potential is very important :D .
I will set up forums or something if we will menage to make some kind of group.

Yea, I heard. I will help you with anything you need for your mech map off course. Yu can use my models if you want and ask me for requests.
I only hope you map wont be too similar to DotA. Coz I had enough of DotA :P, not in a bad way.

Mad Cat II?
(Don't hurt me)
Also:
Turret = Can shoot while moving.
? = Cannot shoot while moving.
What's a good name you think? 'Fixed emplacement' seems too wordy, and just 'Fixed' implies too many possibilities.
No, its new custom made mech. If you mean that.
Turret is defensive robot that is fixed on one place. Placed. And cant move from that place. But there will be movable turrets also.
I will upload all my concepts when I get scanner.
