Hi, I am looking to make a big map that is on the scale of DoTA, but NOT DoTA. It'd incorporate some of the elements of DoTA (e.g., big team games where you control only one unit, and very epic/competitve).
I have alot of the gameplay laid out, but unfortunately, I lack the experience to create this sort of map in a timely manner. I am looking for people who might be interested in creating an awesome and innovative map.
I do not want to give out tons of info online here because I'd hate to see someone else steal it =P I Haven't seen anything like it online so far, so if you are a skilled map editor looking to work together on something epic, please let me know! :)
I must say, a lot of maps are popping up saying "I have this really good idea, but I can't do it, someone 'help' me do it!". I believe this is another one.
Advice: If you can't do it yourself with limited help, don't bother asking for someone else to 'help' you do it.

I'd have to agree to a certain degree.. however, there are tutorials that you can access on this site that will help you better understand the map editor. You have time on your side, anyways. No one knows your idea but yourself and beta ends June 7th. During the down time would be a great time to learn the editor. I plan on using the down time for just that. Get a handle on the editor and if you do successfully recruit some map editors ask for their advice and tips [unfortunately, I have none. I am a complete novice to the editor and have been dissecting maps, which is another good way to learn the editor, and reading the tutorials.]. Between now and then jot down your ideas or save them in a .doc, whichever is more convenient. Good luck.
Advice: Don't be afraid to read through the tutorials or ask for help.
From what I've seen a good successful recruitment post either:
Highlights a very cool concept that makes the map stand out from the rest
or
Showcases a cool thing the map contains with example screenshots or video.
You may have a hard time recruiting people for a mystery project simply because there are many projects out there and a fewer number of talented individuals to work on the maps. To enlist these people, your map must really stand out from dozens and dozens of projects that are floating around sc2mapster, bnet and other related sites. I can understand wanting to keep it secretive, but I thought I would just point this out. :)
Perhaps there is something about the map that you can go into without spoiling too much? There are more ways to garner attention than simply laying your map out for all to see. Perhaps going into detail about a cool feature, a character biography or some backstory. Anything to make people excited (or at the very least, mildly curious enough to contact you in private).
-the game would be a top down space shooter, similar to silent death online
-similar concepts to DoTA/Battleships where you get more money, you can upgrade your stuff, team play and destroy the enemy base
-to destroy the enemy base, you'd have to capture a series of nodes to "connect the dots" from enemy base to enemy base, similar to UT2004, onslaught http://www.francescocamarlinghi.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/araja2-minimap-150x150.jpg
-each team has a commander that is in charge of distributing extra money to players, building mining colonies to generate cash, and assigning tasks to the team which generate more cash again
Sorry, but I don't see a top down shooter becoming a huge hit. Especially if it involves using WASD keys for movement, since keyboard input for multiplayer lags incredibly bad.

@Aenigma: Go
lol ok fine, here are some of the concepts:

if anyone is interested, PM me! :)
Howdy,
We also got a project going like that, although its intent is to be my clan's project, we will certianly be willing to help.
If you would be willing to help..
We've got a working 3P system which we have a nearly completed 1P system as well. So you will be able to go between 3P and 1P views.
Although we have borrowed from others for the 1P system, the 3P system is entirely ours.
Soon we will have a trigger structure we can make open to the public for a combined 1P and 3P system.
If you or anyone else would like to help, simply put a post in the SC2 map section of www.clanrks.com/forums :)

Maybe they fix it.
Top down shooters are most popular how I see. Specially in MP.
