Slammed into a Car on the way to work today, i was going around 25km/h on my Bike when a BMW 4WD pulled out of a Blind Driveway, i was too close to the Driveway to stop in time, and hit the car, i fell to the ground, winded and disoriented, The Driver came out to help me up and 2 other people from the house across the street came to help me.
There was a rather large dent in the side of the car, and the bike's front tyre got Smashed. The 2 people that came from the house gave me some Panadol and some water and let me sit down in theyre home for a little bit, before i headed back home calling work at the same time.
I then got back home and the adrenaline was wearing off, and pain started appearing over my body, my right Deltroid was in pain whenever i moved it up, and i had abbration and cuts on my left thigh and hands
We headed to the hospital to get examined, where they took X-Rays and examined my arm. They said i have a Mild contusion on my right arm, but not too sure if i have torn any ligaments which may of caused the pain. Can't find out till monday.
Any faster, and the car would of hit me, and no.. I didnt wear a helmet... : /
BTW please were a helmet, I would hate to be driving and kill some biker cause they weren't wearing a helmet, I'm sure you wouldn't mind the whole head protection thing either.
Yeah as a driver I'm even scared driving downtown. Bikers sometimes think they're safe (that we'll watch out for them, like a pedestrian), but it's sometimes really hard to catch every possible chance a biker is weaving around you.
Luckily I've never had an incident as either. Always gotta double and triple check and if a driveway is blind, go extremely slow and don't try to pull shit like going to the other side to go left etc...
Thank you grenegg, And i probably will be wearing a helmet.. well, i can't ride anymore due to my bike being destroyed Lol.
Insurance?
Anyway, glad to hear you're ok. One moment you're making a map to give other people a scare, the next you're on the receiving end =P. I've had something somewhat similar before - I wasn't hit, but two cars crashed into eachother at 70 mph at a crossroad that I was waiting to cross (as a pedestrian). I would've had one of the cars in my face if it wasn't for a really sturdy streetlight-pole that was between me and the road. I made sure everyone was ok and then ended up going home with a shock and lots of nasty gravel/rubbish in my mouth - I managed to stumble out of the way when I saw it happening, but of all the ways I could've responded I forgot to simply 'close my mouth'. Ironically enough, I didn't even miss my train. Even funnier - this happened like halfway through my exam-week.
Yeah, people always say "how come in movies the characters freeze when a train or car is heading towards them"... well because in real life there's a good chance you would actually freeze.
Where I am it is illegal to ride anything without a helmet. It seems like your decision not to use the proper safety equipment proved its point, am I right? Just don't do that again. What kind of bike was it BTW?

Today we decided that instead of your usual mapping news, we would give you a more important life lesson. Always wear your helmet
That is all
What do you think :D <</quote>>
i think this should be obvious before people even get on a bike in case of running into cars lol. glad he's alright though that doesn't sound fun.
@Sixen Geez... And to think I wanted to get a bike, =X.

@Psyched
I think that was a freak accident personally...
Today, I awoke in agony. My neck is so sore its almost stiff and I can hardly use my arm... the pain is overwhelming.. this sucks..
didn't you get pain pills at the hospital?
I have pain pills, but no, the emergency ward only check for broken bones.
