Not really, Unfortunatley... I think i'm never going to ride a bike again... But i'll definetly take a more Safer approach to life.
Its amazing how thinks like this happen, i never expected it to happen at all, but then BOOM it happens, when everything goes wrong...
Wake up late
End up being late for work
Car Pops out, and i hit it
Bike destroyed...
I guess things like these are why my old driving teacher always told us to not care about being late for work when you'd have to drive uncomfortably fast to get there in time.
But you know what they say? If you fall down you have to get up again. Go learn from it, ride your bike and be a attentive cyclist :)
Something similar happened to me last winter.
I was on my bike driving down a iced street. Shortly before a car passed me from the front I slipped, fell down and slided right infront of the car.
It stopped literally half a meter away from my face. I could see the tire pattern. If the driver had been a bit faster (and I know this street.. almost everyone goes over the speed limit) he'd have rolled right over my head :x

Ooooh the adrenalin.
Yeah, i probably will...
But Wow, that would of been scary, and yeah the Adrenaline, you can feel it instantly, you start shaking yet you cant feel anything. I only felt little pain, until the Adrenaline wore off..
Something similar happened to be. Except I was the driver and the biker was not a biker but a Small kid.
I'm about to start backing up with my vehicle at a gas station. I look behind me. Nothing. I look at my two rear mirrors. Nothing. I keep looking out of my back window and start backing up and what do I see right next to my window a few seconds after. You guessed it. A small kid. about 3 foot tall. He was walking behind my car only seconds before I started backing up. I look at the kid, horrified because had I started backing up 5 seconds earlier he would have been under my car! I start looking around for a parent because in my opinion, you don't leave a kid that young walking around in a parking lot of a busy gas station (there's a mcdonald's in the same building, I'm assuming thats where the small family was heading.) only to see the mother who was caring a younger baby talking with her mother (probably, old women white hair.) on the other side of the freaking parking lot. So she left he kid walking around in a parking lot without any supervision. I almost squashed a kid because of fail parenting. That was the scariest moment every for me in a car and I did some pretty crazy stuff with my car (ex.: drifting at 160KM/h on the high way... lol)
Some guy at my school had a bike. He is one of those Gothic tough types. Anyway he got in an accident and his kneecaps nearly fell off. They were hanging from his legs, gross. He says he remembered standing up trying to move his bike out of the road and then noticing that he had no knees or something. It sounds like he nearly did die. He wasn't wearing a helmet either because it was a hot day or whatever. I think he turned a corner too sharp and the bike threw him off. I don't like him, just thought I'd share. He also looks like a substance abuser and he cuts himself for attention. Obviously he needs help but it's none of by business. Interestiong stories guys.
Good to hear that you're alright, or at least as alright as you can be after hitting a car...
A friend of mine (well, sort of friend, person in class I know and we do not dislike each other) got hit by a car while driving his bike (On the main street near our school), next day we are all wondering why he doesn't show up for school, and like ten minutes into the first lesson someone gets a message from his parents saying he's in hospital in a coma. We sort of got the first three lessons that day off (since most of the class was pretty bummed out and worrying, with like 3 exceptions, and yes, one of em was me), one of which was supposed to be a test (Well, at least one good thing came from such a bad accident)
A few days later, in the medical newspaper, there's the story about him getting hit by the car and being fairly alright. No broken bones or anything, I think they artificially extended his coma to a week, and at first we were told he wouldn't come back to school for months (probably the rest of the schoolyear), but he came back like less than a month later perfectly fine. Really lucky guy :) And yea, he should've worn a helmet, if he had he could've kept his long hair (He hit his head, the doctors had to shave a tiny bit of it to sew up the only wound he got from the accident, and then his hairstyle looked a bit off so he just cut it short)
Its amazing how it can happen, even to the people who are on this site also. But as DarlD said, things can get extremely scary either side of the accident, im not too sure what the guy in the car was thinking though, im pretty sure he got one hell of a shock.
Reminds me of my friend who had a bleed in his brain from a skateboarding accident just a couple months ago. Not sure why it reminds me of that. Anyways I'm sure you'll be fine. If not they would have said something by now and you would be in a lot worst pain. I know wearing a helmet wouldn't have helped since it's your arm but you still should have been wearin one. Anyways hope you're good
UPDATE:
Good News...
My Arm, and Elbow are fine, but my wrist hurts when i bend it or try to lift heavy things.
Bad News...
The guy i hit is claiming Insurance, and because my Bike dosent have insurance (I know, WTF) i have to pay whatever bill comes through the mail...
First things first, i earn under $40k a year, and i hit a BMW..... im looking at around $10,000....... : / and because, im over 18, its illegal for me to ride on the Path... Again, WTF!??!
Damn, 10 grand wtf! I had a somewhat similar experience about 2 years ago, when I was riding my bike home from school on a normal day, and I was about to cross an intersection. BAMM, an old lady, took a right turn and slammed into me, I flew down and landed on my back, without a helmet on of course. Luckily for me it had been a long day at school, so my backpack was filled to the brink with books, and my head couldn't reach the ground, so phew my skull didn't crack lol. At this point, the car is at a stand still, and my bike and me are lying halfway under the car, and nothing crucial has happened. Unfortunately before getting out of the car and checking up on me, the old lady decides to pull into the side, so that she isn't in the way for the other drivers, which results in her thrashing the bike with her front tire, and creating a single tire track from my left arm and chest down to my left foot with her back tire. Which was very visible, because I was wearing my black rain coat and trousers, when I afterwards got up on my feet and placed my left arm correct according to my chest.
To my luck, there were two policemen who witnessed everything from their car 5 feet away from the 'scene of crime', who came running to my rescue, and described the event as my getting swallowed by the car. I was the victim, since when a car wants to take a right turn, they have to wait until everyone/thing has gotten passed first, at least that is how it is in Denmark. And she ignored that/didn't see me, before taking the turn. So the old lady had to pay for a new bike, and whatever damage happened to her own car.
Even though I somehow managed to get through this with very minor bruises, I couldn't stop shacking :S Even after I had been with the old lady and police talking about for an hour, I was still shacking when I was walking home, and when I came home. But when I woke up next morning I was just happy that I could borrow my mothers bike, so I could ride the bike to school!
My point is: "Why do we fall, sir? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up."
In Denmark, it would have been your fault. Since you should have stopped/slowed down and make sure no one was coming. And the fact that you hit the car in the side, instead of the car hitting you on the side, wouldn't have helped you either, insurance and court wise.
@Pshyched: Go
So has the experience been life-changing for you in anyway?. Renewed perspective or?

was it even your fault though? It's also illegal in my state not to have insurance. Your thoughts?
Im not too sure, it was neither ones fault.

Another reason why we should stay in our homes playing SC2.
The world is to dangerous for us!
