Well the point of this thread is to discuss copyrighting, and the extent that the holders go to for power, I noticed we have several forums entry's that pertain to copyright, but none that are exclusively about copyright.
Heres how I see it all...
Ill start careing when they up the security past the same shit thats been on it since 1995... that same DRM is still on every DVD, and nothing new... You know there wouldnt been many pirated movies if they would just up the protection so that every Below-average IQ person could do it I mean really Windows Media Player Cracks that... lol, We are paying tax money to protect these copyrights taht these people refuse to protect themselves, you wouldnt count on the police to protect you if you were a millionaire, so why count on them to protect your shit? and it is shit, all forms of entertainment besides a few special cases, have gone way downhill, where music, movies, and games pretty much just suck now. Or am I wrong, and just talking out of my ass?
They worrie about it but heres a better solution, Instead of sueing 100 million americans, why not sue the creators of the video players that play these files? Sue VLC, sue Microsoft, realplayer, quicktime, this is a much shorter list. and would drop piracy on its knees, if they sue'ed and forced them to add cinevia to their shit, but thats the problem Hollywood is too fucking stupid lol

I know you're dense, but really, this is the single stupidest series of words I've seen forged this entire year.

Let's sue mapster because people here have used non-original artwork in their avatars, and sue apple because somebody used a Mac to download a free song. What if I used the iPad I'm using right now (hence the spelling errors I've probably made) to download a copyrighted image- does that mean apple should be sued? =/ Doesn't work so well...

Now that I think of it, that sounds a lot like SOPA.
If im not mistaken with SOPA too, the idiot ceo who brought it up was fired right after for hurting the companies reputation so badly. Anyways it was already proven that the current laws, though a little outdated, are capable of dealing with piracy.
The issue is that these companies that would want to sue for infringement are that they are so rediculously money hungery that they aren't even willing to spend one damn penny to put forward any anti-piracy system no matter how simple it would be.
Funny the op doesn't realize that he's probably breaking some copyright laws from using his bender avatar.
I mean really its like the same idiots in Canada now that want to make it illegal to make personal copies of your own damn cds; Oo for that matter how itunes/dvds are now charging customers extra for smaller, low quality versions on videos poeple bought and already own. I mean please bring a none idiotic idea to the table like putting decent coding specific to every movie title but allows people who have bought it to view it whatever format they so choose - now there's a relavent idea.
I don't think the government are the people suing. It's the companies suing the people who pirated after they've been brought in. Also, the reason these programs and companies aren't held responsible is because that wasn't their original intent so they can't be held responsible for some consumers using their product the wrong way.
Actually what they do with piratebay and with the other torrent sites, is like they would sue the media players. The torrent sites doesnt make any copy infringement, but what the governments do against these sites are censorship...
About IP and Copyright, they are BS, I dont acknowledge the existence any of them.
What? right now they are sueing Individual people, and any sites that have any hints of a link.... thats a HUGE list. All I am saying is the list is much shorter for video players vs People, lol
Also they are sueing ISP's, and server hoster's such as Justhost.com, They at any given time have about 20k lawsuits going on... Now I believe that the industry is at its own fault for its loses, due to its own stupidity but still, I am just saying that if they had an IQ higher then 105 then they would have easily figured this out...
Oh and Eiviyn, do you ever contribute anything useful to any thread? all i see is trollin just saying. lol.
@Taintedwisp: Go
There are many video players and if they would go after them than there would be even more.... Also if somehow they would control all media players, just imagine how easily they could censor for political reasons....
Btw they only sue just some guys like 10 per year and make the fine huge to scare people.
(I think they spend more money on the lawyers, than they will ever get out from the guy they sued, as people unable to pay so high fines....)
For the first statement I can see that, but for the second one, The thing is, They do sue thousands every year, just a few months ago a judge threw out 65 thousand cases because he thought the charges were stupid and not worth looking at, They are already in the politics.
@Taintedwisp: Go
Hmm so they are do trying,
Seems like they dont have enough corrupt people to prosecute 65k people, yet.D
But I still think they dont convict more than couple tens of people per year. They have to prosecute each of them alone, they cant go after group of people... that wont stand in a court...
All I know is that the minimum Sentence does not fit the crime.... Minimum of 10 years and 250,000$ fine, Hell why not just kill someone....
Its rediculous, and nothing is "Stolen" it is Copied, Its like hmm... gimme a sec in the real world this is hard to compare, Ok here we go, Its like PhotoCoping a book, Because each time you copy it gets a little bit worse, SO its not a perfect copy and quality is lost, They dont LOSE anything, they just dont gain... make sense? Its like People who buy monopoly, and a parent who makes a monopoly board out of paper... nothing is lost, but nothing is gained for the companies...
And people would go to the theaters if it wasnt 12$ a person, + 5$ for a small popcorn and another 4$ for a drink totaling 42$ for 2 people.... if you add in the extra crap. Thats rediculous.... and people can say its not but it is....
I would love to argue with you and point out the flaws in your arguments but it seems Eiviyn has already summarized everything I wanted to prove in one sentence:
I can see that, But still, I am just tired of idiots taking focus away from what really matters, to push congress to crucify anyone who downloads something... Is it really different then a Library? just as the article said.
Funny have fast this thread turned into trolling.
We should rename this subforum to Troll Pub.
edit:
Ohh I just read now that RIAA bought more "shares" in Obama's administration, welcome to fascists America. (Half of RIAA lawyers now work under Obama)

How would you sue someone who hasnt commited a crime?
I suppose thats america for you
Sue speaker-producing firms for allowing their customers to play pirated music in their speakers.
