True, but I can't see it to affect me in such a manner that I'll actually need to worry if one console gets banned in the states over a right dispute between two major companies. Hence why I'm not worried. I'd be more worried if playstation, wii and everything else went out of the rotation too.

You're not concerned by the fact that this is the 2nd country to ban an entire console?
Not worried that "patent infringement" (read into what patent they'd actually infringed by the way, it's a cheap laugh) is the new method of console/phone competition?
Rather than producing better products, they're censoring eachother. That should worry you, no matter what you use.
I haven't read into the whole patent that's being infringed but it sounded like some technology was outright taken from motorola for the wifi and video codecs. I'm not sure exactly how they patented the stuff but I'm assuming they outright took what motorola used and just put it in the 360. It seems to me M$ was being lazy and was looking for a way to save money.
Like I said, I'll worry if it gets a lot closer. Just as with the whole SOPA ordeal, most of that stuff won't really come to pass. There's really only so much censorship companies can throw at us before an enormous uproar is returned. For all the things we should've been worrying about over the past 20 years or so, most of it didn't turn into a huge issue. Society has larger issues than censorship at the moment, which is just one outlet of it. I'd rather worry about turning the whole planet around to ensure we don't blow ourselves up within 20-40 years.
I don't see why people view this negatively. This isn't censorship, this is stopping a company from making profit off stolen technology. It's like plagiarism, it's a bad thing.

I applaud you. This lawsuit is so hilarious and scary all at the same time.

Its contrary of plagiarism, Its Intellectual Property right, which ultimately ends in claiming you invented the universe.
So you're saying because they made a unique set of technology that does something a certain way and patented it they are claiming to have invented the universe? It's nothing like that. Having to work your ass off to invent something unique deserves to be protected. It's just incredibly stupid that M$ wouldn't just dish out money to get proper use of it from motorola. Instead they had to steal it. Supporting M$ is supporting stealing, plain and simple.

See thats how far stupid's arguments go, if you "work" for something than you deserve to get money for it, even if it go against your basic rights.
(dammit I should be payed for posting here!)
Understanding gravity isnt far from "inventing" a video codec (if I am right thats why MS is sued), they are all manifestation of this universe. This would lead that Newton could have patented gravity. (And yes there are such crazy patents, like this
Ultimately a codec is an information that encodes something, it doesnt have physical manifestation just like the theory of gravity, which "encodes" the falling apple...
If Motorola wouldnt "invent" this codec than somebody would have invented it in time, it might have been different and might have been even better. (its not like a piece of land which can be occupied only by one....)
About the work, there are many inventions that arent patented and people do invent them...
My prayers have been answered! There is a god!

Microsoft needs to stop openly stealing stuff. But I guess they'd have nothing else to do then... ;-)
Im from Germany and I say this is bullshit.
AhAHAHAH!!!, Well I already have mine, So I dont care LAWL>

Your posts depress me.
On another note - I couldn't care less because I don't and never will own an xbox o/
I didn't understand why they are banning it. Are they going to restrict selling of Xbox360 or whats going on? And why?
Same (Both parts of that post.) I did find it a bit funny though. PC FTW!
How naive. Less competition will affect you.

Yeah gogo IP fanatics, lets create more monopolies.
Btw I still dont understand why people buy consoles.

these patent laws are a load of shit.
thats all my opinion of it is. they should exist. you shouldn't be able to copyright an idea.

Motorola agreed to include patents in RAND (Reasonable and Non Discriminatory) terms, available to any company that wanted to used them.
Meaning Motorola asked for money.... and then Xbox said no, Motorola wanted to be a bitch and sue, now Microsoft is countersueing.
