I decided to start doing a series of tutorials for C + + as some people are interested in the topic. Hopefully some of you don't mind, and any input is greatly appreciated. This tutorial is aimed to complete newbs to programming, higher understanding will not be covered. I will only continue these tutorials if there is some interest in it, if not I won't waste the time. :)
To start out, your going to need an IDE(Integrated Development Enviorment, also known as Integrated Design Environment or Integrated Debugging Environment). An IDE is a software application that basically will provide you with the necessary tools to start any type of computer programming. The two tools you will be using the most is the source code editor and the compiler. The Source Code editor is simply where you write your code. Think of it as a text editor except you have to write special keywords. The Compiler is what brings your program together so you are able to see the results of work you have done.
There are usually separate IDE's for different programming languages, we'll obviously be using a C + + version. I'll be using Visual Basic Pro for this tutorial. You can download Visual Basic Express for this tutorial though(its free), it should work just fine. You can download it for free here.
Make sure you select the language as English because this is what I will be using.
In our first picture I am going to be showing you the four main buttons you will be using, at this point nothing else matters, try not to get confused by looking at all the other buttons.
The green arrow that the red box is highlighting is the run program button, also shown as "Start Debugging" in the IDE. It will tell the compiler to run your code and display it on the screen, if it was told to in the source code editor that is.
The item highlighted in green is the create a new project button, there you can create you project. It will hold all the C + + files you create so you can start coding instead of staring at blank space. The button next to it is the create a new item button, it is highlighted in yellow. That is where you will be able to create your file so you can start programming.
The purple highlight is the "Save All" button. It saves everything that is in the project. I usually use that instead of the single save in case I missed something in another file that I was using. I would highly recommend you also use it this way.
Starting Your Project
In the second picture we are going to be creating a new project. Make sure you click on the "Empty Project" selection. It is highlighted in yellow. Disregard everything else in the selection, it is invaluable to you right now. Next, you need to name your project, I named mine SC2Mapster. The red highlighting is blanking out my name, disregard that. Lastly, press the "ok" button.
Congratulations! You created your first project, good job! Now all you need to know is how to add a new file so you can start programming in C+ + and get a basic understanding of the language. I hope your still with me, we have one last part to complete!
Creating a file
In the third photo where it says "Installed Templates," click on the one that says "Code" and then proceed to click on the "C+ + file(.cpp)." Lastly we just have to name our file and we are ready to go, I forgot to name mine in the picture but the file name I am using is "sc2MapsterFile."
Gratz! You finished your first C+ + tutorial, in the next one I will be covering the basics of the language and we will print text on the computer screen. Once we are able to print text and get a basic understanding of small parts of the language we can create a small game(not a full blown out game, but just a text based game!)
I thought this might be useful for those who want to start using Galaxy but don't really understand the basic concepts of programming.
i'm not sure how you can realistically teach anyone more than "Hello World" (for people who have never touched a programming language) in any less than 6000 posts :/

@Mephs: Go
I figure I would try. :S But none seems interested, so. ^^
