Hello again fellow people (or Terrans if you prefer that)
I just started watching Horror Films and I hope to find one that would make me shit my pants and cry for 4 days straight. And I've only just tipped the surface of the Horror-Film-Genre, and as I don't really now a lot of good films in that genre, I would like to know:
I'm not a huge fan of horror movies, but seems recent horror films no longer have to actually be scary, so long as they show enough gore to compensate apparently (watched one of the Saw movies with my friends once, lamest excuse for horror I've ever seen - sure, it's gruesome and will churn your stomach, but you see everything coming and the so called "mystery" behind it was predictable enough that a 12 year old could see it coming).
Been a loooong time since I've see it, but when I was like 13 or so I made the mistake of watching the Ring - needless to say pretty much any of the random common objects that appeared in the tape proceeded to freak me out for about a month (good thing I didn't see the TV scene).
I like horror movies, but I hardly find them really scary. Sadly :3
I should mention Star Trek: First Contact, too.
I saw that movie when I was little ( been released in 1996.. time flies by). And MAN it freaked me out. I think I even got nightmares from it.
These aren't exactly the 'scariest' movies ever, but are pretty... Well, just don't watch them if you are squeamish :D
The Human Centipede (Don't google this... Just... don't...)
Hostel (Some guys eye gets cut open :O)
Don't watch that many scary movies though. More a fan of scary video games like Amnesia where when something happens you can look around frantically, screaming and then quit the game in fright. Then start it back up again and do it all over again xD
I wouldn't really call any of them scary... but here goes, some horror movies with a scene or 2 that might disturb you in some way.
Event Horizon (The atmosphere in this movie is what's truly "scary")
Stephen King's IT (I was 10 when I first watched this... OMG WTF WHY WHY WHY!?)
Stephen King's The Shining (again, young when I saw this)
Hellraiser
Nightbreed
Audition (this is just... like... WTF!? not scary, in a way, but certainly messed. Gotta love the Asian "horror" films, even if it's for that one moment of shock and total disbelief)
There's this other Asian horror film that I cannot think the title of, but it was so messed up it was messed up more than any other movie I think I have ever seen.
I found Human Centipede to be completely boring and not worth watching. Nothing scary about it, perhaps slightly F'd up, but very boring. Didn't finish watching it on the account of lack of atmosphere.
@GnaReffotsirk: Go
The House: Is that the movie, where on the cover of the package is a detached hand opening a lock on a doorknob? hehehe...
I'm not a big scary movie fanatic, but i do have some funny stories about 'em.
The ring scared the shit out of me. Leaving the theater a little girl was walking by and i made the remark to my buddy "don't fuck with her" halfway joking. Well i get home and go to the website for the ring because i'm obsessed with it at this point. I open up other internet tabs and continue on my web serfing way. Later i decide I want to listen to music, it's 2am and i'm still a little freaked out by the movie. What i didn't know is the website i had gone to was full of ambient sounds from the ring, i put my headset on and damn near shit my pants.
Event horizon was the shit. I was at a party back in the day where we watched it in high school. I thought i was a trooper because everyone else had gone to sleep and i was the only one up. I was scared to shit watching that alone towards the end. During one of the most intense moments my buddy ripped the loudest fart you could imagine behind me without even waking up. I damn near shit my pants.
Actually I didn't look at any of them. I just flipped through real quick and saw it. I don't watch horror movies. I just dont get it..... Why not buy a comedy or action movie that makes you enjoy your 2 hours of entertainment. And from what I've heard, saw is not a horror movie. Its just a gore-fest. Just my opinion tho...

Feel free to Send me a PM if you have any questions/concerns!
It's sort of a thing that I do, watching horror/terror (not gore), to sort of ignite my nerves. It's negative I know, but sometimes it's the only thing that works.
Nowadays, I skip them completely. Too much stress and horror makes my brain spew nasties when I sleep. I think it can't handle more terror/horror/stress.
I even cringe at the sight watching reaction videos on youtube.

Ya, Chainsaw Massacre is one of my favourites, though the horror effect decreases over time. Actually, is Chainsaw considered as horror or psycho?
However, definitely worth watching it.

Event Horizon - I don't know why this scares me, but it does.
Jeepers Creepers - "be eating you" scares me. Yes, I read it that way.
The Ring (u.s. version) - gave away my tv since.
The House - old/classic version.

Scary Movie 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 of course!
Warning- these are super scray, so don't see them unless you have medics standing by (in case you die of fright)
Also. @Repear. I checked our list. It's accurate. Check it out. (this is #4)

Yeah, I think that was it. I'm really grossed by decapitated things that still linger.
I investigated on the human centipede. Not as gross as that cups and girls. Goddamit! Why?

Awesome Responses guys ^^
I heard something about that Chainsaw Massacre (2008) Should be fucked up, Can anyone Confirm that ? :)
Ya, Chainsaw Massacre is one of my favourites, though the horror effect decreases over time. Actually, is Chainsaw considered as horror or psycho? However, definitely worth watching it.
Event Horizon (one of my favorite movie) Alien 1-2 or atleast those were scary when I watched them young.
But if you are real horror film fun, than I suggest you the masters of horror series.
Pandorum was maybe the last good horror movie I saw (its more like a thriller however).
