Within Temptation is my favorite band, because they have the largest amount of songs that I like.
Rock or something along the lines of rock is typically my favorite genre.

That's the fire time EVER I see someone actually defining 'favourite band' in a topic like that.
I like pretty much everything that's decent. I'm mostly into ska, original rock/metal and punk, but I do dig decent-to-good artists in pretty much every genre, which adds Drum 'n Bass, Electronical music/House, Rap, Reggae, and some more to the list. This goes from bands no one here will know (The Flatliners, Coparck, Streetlight Manifesto, A Wilhelm Scream, Ayreon, Cunnin' Lynguists - cookie and respect to anyone here who has even heard of any of these bands) to somewhat more well known stuff (Alestorm, Bad Religion, Eluveitie, Mindless Self Indulgence, the Reel Big Fish, Dropkick Murphies, Enter Shikari) to bands everyone will know (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead, Rammstein, System Of A Down/Serj Tankian).
Every now and then, I enjoy myself a soundtrack to a good game/movie. LOTR, POTC, Heroes of Might & Magic 4/5, WoW... you name it.
Edit: Era and Enigma are pretty damn decent Misu, have to admit I didn't expect them from you.
Id have to say my favorite band is Tool, but i listen to a lot of different types of music. Generally i tend to stick to rock, but theres tons of stuff i like. Im also always open to new music.
Here's an example of some other artists/bands i like : Metallica, Gorillaz, RHCP, Regina Spektor, mgmt, jack Johnson, The Beatles. Thats all i can think of from the top of my head.
I think i remember one of my friends listening to or mentioning Streetlight manifesto before, and i think iv heard of Ayreon before, not sure just seems to ring a bell but cant remember from where.
Have a cookie =P. If you like Tool, you really need to look up Ayreon. His "The Human Equation" album is the best... work of art I've ever seen/heard. It's literally perfect. Musically complicated, lyrics with a seriously deep meaning but a touchable layer and the most original music I've ever heard, and that includes all classical artists. In fact, everyone here who likes metal and gives two craps about whether it's not just made because of $$$ needs to check Ayreon out.
Streetlight are immensely cool, but also fairly hard to get into - you need to like ska a lot to even bother with them.
Edit: Era and Enigma are pretty damn decent Misu, have to admit I didn't expect them from you.
Aghh! You're thinking that the order pictures of me in my avatar are in acquaintance with the music that I chose to listen to. Those are rather older pictures of me back when I was 17 or 18. I am now 26 lol. The music that I listen to now is much different from when I was an adolescent. My avatar is my latest picture of me.
Industrial to Lilly Allen to sound tracks like 300's and almost everything in between. If it sounds good I like it, if it doesn't it gets the delete. My playlist is currently in the 30K range, not bad for about ten years of collecting mp3s. Random is very important, one bjork song out of the blue is nice...her whole discography in one sitting...not so much.

No, I was thinking that what I've seen from the way that you post, your actions ánd the pictures of you in your avatar were in acquaintance with the music that you listen to. Since it seems to bug you: I don't care if you're 18, 26 or 90, I don't judge - I was just surprised.
I'll be a man and admit it. I LISTEN TO LADY GAGA AND I LIKE IT.
hahahah... besides that, Five for fighting, OneRepublic, Fountains of Wayne, modwheelmood, nine inch nails, Goo goo dolls, Train, ATB, Basshunter, Linkin Park, Taio Cruz, Cobra Starship among MANY others.
On one hand, Fountains of Wayne is in that list, which is awesome. On the other hand, there's One Republic, Train and Taio Cruz (which you probably only mentioned because you liked "Break your heart", amirite?). I can still respect people who listen to Gaga, but if I had to name three artists that examplified the decline of modern day pop music...
