A: Give it time, it's only been about 8 months since SCII's release and the devs aren't being paid for sotis.
R: It hasn't enough heroes
A: See previous answer
R: It hasn't enough items
A: See previous answer, and also this should be resolved with 4.0
R: It's not enough like DotA
A: Eck is trying to innovate here. :P
R: It's too much like DotA
A: You have to start with *something*, and DotA offers a good base to work on while other sections of SotIS is being developed.
Re heroes are not new: Show me the DotA heroes that Shadow.Geminus, Garamond.Singsprocket, and Gabriel.Tosh are (mechanical) copies of. For that matter, show me ANY sotis hero that's a copy of a DotA hero.
The combination of this question and answer is just golden. In a way it kinda voids all earlier defense statements about Sotis.
I did try Sotis once before. My first impressions:
Map too small.
The ghost hero for example, felt as if a bunch of random ideas were just thrown together and *poof* It also used a lot of the fun quotes. Which are funny for awhile but don't go too well with actual gameplay in the long run.
I hate to burst your bubble again, but Sotis is nowhere near the level of Dota in terms of gameplay at this point. Perhaps if given time, it might get there. Also, according to what i've read in this thread, Teamwork won't really help much if you're gonna get 2-3 shot. You stick with your team with map awareness and all, if played right, I'm pretty sure it would still be possible for a seasoned player to pull a quick one and still get away alive.
Based on what I've read. A 2v4 battle would likely not be possible in Sotis, as 1 of the 2 could easily get wiped by a 2-3 shot. Whereas in Dota theres at least a slight chance of victory if you play your cards right. Assuming both teams have some degree of teamwork, that's the difference balance makes in the midst of battle.
I don't even need to play SotIS to tell you that it is inferior to DotA currently. DotA had years of development time whereas SotIS is not even a year old. Unless the SotIS team has had previous experience (and a lot of it) making an AoS, I just don't see how you can even compare the two.
R: It's not balanced enough
A: Give it time, it's only been about 8 months since SCII's release and the devs aren't being paid for sotis.
I am not being paid for any of my projects, in fact they cost me money - not just opportunity cost, but financial cost as well. As Guinsoo once said, he was working more hours for Dota than LoL and wasn't even getting paid. This is the cost of being a map designer.
Dota Allstars had 24 heroes if I remember rightly, it took them another 6 years to hit 100. That is just over 1 hero added every 4 weeks, which is a very easy exercise to do - especially when so many people have walked the path before you, steal an idea here, steal an idea there, voila, new instant hero.

Eck made his choice to use Dota as a launching platform for his map. This, as I stated before, is why he is in the position he is now. There was such a rush to be the new Dota in Sc2, this has sadly lead to a map that has a lot of potential, but I believe will be dethroned before any of it is seen.

I have not played every hero but I can see similar themes behind the heros I have played - I do not think this is a bad thing, as ideas are just ideas.
me myself i dont understand it id someone could teach me i would play
All right, here's a list of reasons collected:

RCIX, just a personal question; the original Defense of the Ancients. Tides of Blood. Heroes of the Ancient Temples. Played any of those three?
No, though i doubt my opinion would change if i did. :P

Well obviously I can't speak for everyone.

No, he really isn't ... not at the speed people expect.

This is why you're a troll.

You`re obviously trolling(or retarded), and its become rather blatant(and annoying).
