I readed some comics, books, short stories about hydralisk, but i alwais have this question, from where Hydralisks shoot the needle spines??I always believed that was shot from the cavities in blue, but watching better i noticed that they shoot form the "shoulder" (RED ZONE),is only an impression or i saw right??
If i am right, what's the role of the blue cavities?
And also the sc1 Hydralisks used to shoot form the area above the shoulders??
Here are some screen to better understand it
Finally i learn how to open a topic, thank you SoulFilcher!
And here a confusing image of Mister Jack (based on the standard 3d model i suppose)
i popped into the old sc1 and looked at the hydra. i couldn't get a screen shot it wouldn't save to the directory and when i used paint it was really discolored. but i found this one on google.
exept for infested all the Zerg don't have sex, tgey "sex" are determinated by their personality (Overmind, Zasz, Daggoth and Abathur have male personality, but they DON'T have a penis (LOL), same thing for Izsha and Zagara, they don't have female organs (I don't know the name in english), but have female personality), the Second Overmind I don't know, because it personality is unknown XD
ahhhh it all makes sense now. It must have been for an evolutionary advantage as all things Zerg drive that way. So the only females are the queens? And, Kerrigan. The males zergs really got the shaft being males apparently make up 90% of the zerg population. Tough break man..... So queens can 'spawn larvae, heal, and defend close to home, theyd make a sweet house wife IMO. They provide children, keep you healthy, and take care of the house. SOLD-
Actually, all zerg-like Earth species' (ants', bees') workers and warriors are females. If zergs use the same idea, the only male zerg would be Stukov.
Damn we are going out topic and Zarxiel is using words dangerously near to the Hentai world...
This new image of hydralisk show me that sc2 hydralisk last evolution (last
Of HotS time line ??) should shoot from the head and not from the shoulder, also the Head carapace is more bigger and cover all the top of the hydralisk, good to know because this carapace is bulletproof (the palpebrae are bulletproof on "The Teacher" short story)
you know how i know the hydras are shooting from their head in HOTS? look at the model and attachment points for the weapon launches. That is undeniable proof that they shoot from their heads. That would be so silly for long needles to come from the shoulders really. They would obviously come from the head / brain area as thats the most precious where you would want your defensive assets close by (protecting the brain).

They shoot out of the blue parts. In SC1 they had some big head-flaps. Maybe the cinematic looked better with shoulder cannons?
I think blue too...
Here two new images on a better definition, that show me at 100% of probability that needles are shoot from the shoulder and not form the head
They shoot from the blue parts in-game though. As well as in SC1 and the WC3 unit where they had head-flaps.
I know that in melee games they shoot from blue cavities,i hope blizard will be more clear on hydralisk needle attack on the future
I wonder how they aim if they need to lower their heads. Their eyes are in a terrible position in that cinematic, staring at the ground.
Don't know, probably they select a target location and go on that position shooting at determined target...
It's probably a bit inconsistent because the game model dev team and the cinematic dev team are two separate groups working independent of each other.
It's possible

Notice that there r both sationary and attacking hydras, notice that attacking hydras still have arms down as side flaps on the head opened up
The image from WC3 in fact represent a sc1 hydralisk shooting
I want to know the differences between male vs female hydralisks. They appear unisex to me..... That's just absurd for a mammal of that size.
