We had a little bit of snow (10 cm), but it melted in the sunlight during the day after which the night temperature dropped to -7 degrees Celsius. Result: ICE EVERYWHERE. Already fell of my bike four times in the past two days.
@Mozared: Go Aaaawww the only things that melt around here are living creatures, and their ice creams lol... I can barely sleep because midnight temperature is more like midday temperature.
I used to get snow like that, then I moved to California, then to Washington. Snow seems less intense up here but I have yet to live here a year so there's still time. ;P

I am largely inactive, but I am still around. Feel free to poke me if you need some help, just be warned that I only really come back if I need help and/or if I'm posting a new map/library.
How do you cope with this in Sweden? I've found that cycling works best over either normal ground or a thin layer of full on snow. Wet ground is terrible, thick snow gets you stuck, ice is sick, icy snow is batshit insane and anything in between any of those is sucky too. Do you ride a mountainbike? Or do you guys take better care of your cycling roads?
You are forgetting that the snow clearing is a lot more efficient the further up north you go,
What you can do is to buy winter tires for you bike, then you wont slip on ice. The biggest problem is that snow accumulates around the edges of roads, where it gets muddy and messy. Most people drive cars or take busses on the winter. Students and poor people dont have any choice, so you just deal with it :)
When you have shockwaves of snow the people who can stay home while the plowers get their job done. Usually takes a day or two to make the most important roads drivable/walkable
Snow is typically like that here where I live, though the last few years, we've not really gotten much snow. It's basically just depressingly dark and dreary all the time now.
Living in brazil? :P. Actually here in NC i have only ever had 1 snowy christmas, but usually it atleast gets cold, Its gotten progressivly colder the past 3 days, hope it keeps up.
That snow. So much. I'm in Big Bear for the moment being and the fence posts make pre-made snowballs ripe for the throwing. The entryway to the cabin is filled with melted snow. My friend found snow in the sink. There is snow everywhere. No escaping it.

Well, it snowed like crazy last night (And it's still going), so my mom took some pictures and I thought I'd share them: http://imgur.com/a/5WdhE
Hows the snow/winter situation for everyone else here?
I had to use this:
I dislike.
But I got no snow. :)
Lol, cat's like "wtf is goin on, I don't get it".
Snow situation here is almost similar. And it amuses me alot: everything is soft an clear, nights are bright.
We've got snow too, but I'm glad it's not that bad.. yet. :)
It snowed quite a bit here yesterday, now everything is just melting away.
@Zolden: Go
The snow is actually higher than the cats :p 40cm
Still need to get some pictures of cats in deep snow.

Temps used to get down to 10-15 F this time of the year, but for the past few years its been 60-80F....
Kind of how it looks everywhere (almost) in sweden now.
SNOW STAHP
I wouldn't mind that.
