We had a little bit of snow (10 cm), but it melted in the sunlight during the day after which the night temperature dropped to -7 degrees Celsius. Result: ICE EVERYWHERE. Already fell of my bike four times in the past two days.
How do you cope with this in Sweden? I've found that cycling works best over either normal ground or a thin layer of full on snow. Wet ground is terrible, thick snow gets you stuck, ice is sick, icy snow is batshit insane and anything in between any of those is sucky too. Do you ride a mountainbike? Or do you guys take better care of your cycling roads?
You are forgetting that the snow clearing is a lot more efficient the further up north you go,
What you can do is to buy winter tires for you bike, then you wont slip on ice. The biggest problem is that snow accumulates around the edges of roads, where it gets muddy and messy. Most people drive cars or take busses on the winter. Students and poor people dont have any choice, so you just deal with it :)
That snow. So much. I'm in Big Bear for the moment being and the fence posts make pre-made snowballs ripe for the throwing. The entryway to the cabin is filled with melted snow. My friend found snow in the sink. There is snow everywhere. No escaping it.
