I'm looking to buy a gaming computer with a budget of $8000. Please don't even comment on the budget, I've heard it enough times.
I'm looking for something that can have dual gtx 590's, a wireless network card, sound card and enough slots for 3 monitors. I also need an amazing processor, an overclocked preferably. If anyone can lead me in the right direction, that would be great!
I prefer laptops, and I don't know any that have three ports. However, the company I like, which is ASUS, also makes desktops. I just don't like them. Sorry if I'm not helping and that I'm taking up space, but I suggest that you get a laptop. Just sayin. Especially because I almost never use more than two monitors.
The highest there would cost you a lot less than $8000, and seems to have 580's instead of 590's, but I imagine it's probably good enough for whatever you could possibly need.
Spare 3k out of that for a 3ds max liscense and you still probably can get what you want. If you want to use up full value of that 8k, you wont find them in the mass market anyway
If you have $8000 dollars for a budget you don't need any advice on what to get. Go the nearest computer store, find where they keep the most expensive, cutting edge hardware and buy one, or more, of each type.
If you want a serious break down of every piece of hardware to ensure maximum performance with minimum bottlenecking in any one department, you can paypal me a bite of that $8000.
The total so far is $7300, I left some open room for anything else you might need you didn't mention. You didn't say if you already have monitors, keyboard, mouse, etc...
Show me an $8000 Alienware... Even if you add all the most expensive options, it will not compare to the computer I made above. NO WHERE near it. That is if you don't add in monitors on Alienware, cause that itself adds like 2000 dollars.
Also, not only does it come no where near the computer I listed above, it doesn't come with the cost. It has a better case, better overclock potential, better fuc*ing everything. Let me see you overclock to 6 GHz on a liquid cooling rig.
EDIT: In fact, that IS the best rig you can get ATM for computer gaming, hands down. There are other options such as getting quad sli 580's instead, or quad xfire 6970's. Or dual xfire 6990's. Either way - this is the beastliest gaming computer you can get atm.
On a side note, you can gain a 2-3% performance increase by tossing in about $11,000 more.
EDIT2: Before someone comes in here saying I'm wrong. This is for GAMING.
You say that rig is for gaming, but I know of no game that needs that kind of a setup to run at the highest possible settings.
Thus, at the high-end of the hardware such as those, you're paying thousands of dollars more for typically just a marginal difference.
Is he looking to buy a bad prebuilt or build his own? Can save him about 6.5k if he builds and then spend the rest on whatever he wants, such as nice speakers or a huge ass monitor. Hell he could go 3D if he wanted and even get a bluray drive just for lulz. I would buy a couple solid state drives with it along with quite a few 1TB normal drives.
He said he has a budge of 8000. I didn't hear anything about saving money. So... what's your point here? You hold no argument. Kthx bye? I know plenty of games that demand such performance and STILL won't be at a good FPS. Do you know not of multi-monitor gaming such as Eyefinity and Nvidia Surround or Nvidia Surround 3D? Jesus, go away.
You ever wonder why these graphic cards have such high GB of RAM? Ugh, I won't even bother explaining things to you. Marginal difference? You make me laugh. Think, there's a reason why the OP wants 3 monitor slots.
EDIT: Btw, I also have a $6000 gaming rig. I also have 2x Radeon 5870's in Xfire. I also have a spare Radeon 5870 eyefinity 6 edition. I have 3 monitors hooked up to this computer and 1 projector. I do not play all the games in max settings with Eyefinity on - to include freaking Need for Speed World which is a FREE TO PLAY game. I can only play in Mediumish settings (Which is still damn good)
It amazes me how people waste money. Those xfire 5870s aren't doing anything much for you. What's eyefinity? Also you can only medium them? Doesn't that kind of prove that the xfire isn't doing anything.
You spent $6000 on your rig and you've only got two 5870's?
I have Xfire 6870's in my oh-so-grand $1300 rig. So what I'm saying is that you're not spending money efficiently; and it doesn't matter how much money you have, spending money effectively is always important.
Ok, good for you. Let me jump back in time so I can jump forward in time to get the non-existant 6000 series Radeons. Secondly, you don't know what I have. Third, the 5870 is > the 6870 regardless of whatever the hell you may think. Benchmarking scores trump it, and the prices don't lie. There's a reason the newer 6870 is cheaper than the 5870.
You obviously know NOTHING about computer or hardware, Sephiex. So let me give you some info. 1. You don't know anything about my computer, other than it has 2 video cards in it with a backup, 3 monitors, and a projector. First of all, the three video cards alone cost more than your cheap-shit computer. Second of all, you don't know how big my monitors are. Third, you don't know know what kind of projector I have. Fourth, did I mention I have TWO more projectors?
EDIT: Btw, incase you're wondering. The 6950 and up video cards are what start to beat the 5870. Even then, barely. I have around 30% more power than your shitty 6870 that didn't exist when I built my computer in just one card. My 5870 eyefinity 6, I won't even begin to talk about that. Go play in high school some more and let me know when you gain some computer knowledge.
Finally, some statistics to back up your words. It doesn't take into consideration crossfire scaling, however.
But you do have some extent of technical knowledge; I was tiring of your narcissism and dull, unoriginal insults.
But all this seems to be a rather useless conversation, considering the OP hasn't logged in since the creation of this thread. Thus I will refrain from posting further.
If you make so much money, fine, go do that and stop bugging us. You, your personality, and most of all your "I'm better than you" attitude is irritating. Whether you are right or wrong is irrelevant. A tool such as yourself will always be a tool, and therefore you will always be wrong.

Unfortunately you're all wrong. 8000 is not nearly enough for what he can possibly do in terms of building a computer.
Give me a little bit to post everything you would need for super computing. I'm in class right now.
EDIT: Which reminds me, I am building this towards GAMING - not super computing as I said above. So I won't have over 40 cores in this build.
