Laertessc2: Hi SC2Mapster!
SC2Mapster: Hi, Laertes!
Laertes: You may also call me UloseTheGame!
SC2Mapster:Okay, "UloseTheGame"
UloseTheGame: Well, I'm here to call all mapmakers under 18 to this round table.
Most mapmakers are older than 18, or are at least 20 for a good majority. But some of us can handle the trigger, data, and terrain editor in sc1, and are even GOOD at it! How's that for wierd?
SC2Mapster: You must be kidding! Kids can't mod!
UloseTheGame: Oh? I do very well on the sc2 editor, and i'm just 15! Yes, 15!
SC2Mapster: You must be the youngest mapmaker out there!
UloseTheGame: Don't generalize mapster, I may be young, but I think there may even be younger mapmakers, and they may be even more successful than ME!
SC2Mapster: BS!
UloseTheGame: Nay, I'm calling out to all mapmakers under 18 to post in this thread! Show us that you are a good mapmaker, and can use the SC editor with the best of them!
Don't forget, you can post here even if you're NOT under 18, but be respectful, the internet is ageless!
When I was under 18 I made maps for war3 and they were bad. I'm now much better and have a greater concept of programming and design. Sorry but looking back I was pretty bad lol.
I think I´m pretty good with the Wc3-Editor (except the terrain) , but I´m still learning how to work with the Galaxy-Editor ^ ^" (I didn´t have much time recently :/ )
Yes it is quite obvious he is 15 if you talk to him.
Dont be mean Vexal...... being mean is bad ... thand and that Tophat Ling might come and actually lock the thread.....
anyways.... I started moding when I was like 13?.... for C&C then Red Alert then SC then a little Doom wolfenstien.... then wc3... some UT in there some where..... a couple others.....
Im 28 now btw...... (and i dont live in a basement)
age really doesnt mean shit when it comes to modding....
BTW .... where does SC2mapster give you a hard time if your under 18....
when Im working on a custom map.... I generally have the "under 18" age group in mind....... everything else is just gravy...
I feel like it's been less impressive to say my age when showing skill in things such as mapmaking now. I made a Mario 3D model about 7 years ago and people were impressed that an 11 year old made it. If I said I was 18 I'm sure it would be looked upon as expected.
I started modding/editing when I was like 12. Warcraft 1 , Duke nukem 1(ascii symbol editor ftw:/) , Doom, then later on Tib Sun, RA 2 etc etc.
Bottom line is I started at a very early age. I definitely think all that experience and exposure helps you later on. You become more confident in modding, have more insight and creativity is generally improved.
While younger modders in Sc2 will naturally lack some experience. I dont think they are necessarily at a disadvantage at grasping and mastering certain aspects of the editor. That being Triggers, Data, and perhaps even terrain.
Ultimately, I think they can still be good map makers, just like the slightly older age group.... and also the very much older age group 70+(Gorandor, talking about you here)
EW just immagine if you were 12 and just then learning the SC2 editor.... and with that knowlege of learning what you did going forth in the world...
seriously ... none of the modding sets could do anything near to what SC2 can actually do now...... basically you have a complete Game Development kit in front of you....
Modding C&C and Doom .... was invovled ... but you were fairly Limited IMO or you had to use tons and tons of 3rd party tools
Just saying
SC2 editor is like a giant candy store of stuff you can actually do.....

Glhf
Huh, Gorandor is 50 years? Reminds of Wolverabid, the 40 year old hive mod, who left hive in disgust because of other mod's actions... Ah but nevermind that now, that was years ago. The point of me making this thread was to embellish that modding is for all ages. I'm sure someone could make a "older mapmakers unit" thread(if they wanted to anyway). Anyway, keep giving us ages, we want to see the range ;D
But to set the record straight, no one has anything against younger designers, it's just... trying to create something professional, I prefer to work with people who have been professional (in some capacity or another) and usually anyone over the age of 18 has worked professionally and understands the responsibilities of holding a position with the correct manner and attitude.
But that's a matter of discretion - I have no problems working with people who are 12, for example, as long I know they can handle it.
I mean for gods sake, I'm not going to pretend I'm amazing at the editor (at least not yet) and I'm sure Grenegg and the OP are MUCH better then me!
tl;dr it's a social rule of age + experience = maturity, but no one is saying you guys aren't talented!
This is here so i can spam somewhere where it is okay.
EDIT: Also, what dose the trigger for start recording do? It appears to me you could just record with that. Or is it impossible to get a good format out of whatever format it uses?

The first post must have been by the dude that (reply=1) gets right?
So the first post ever was by: @Kaelten: Go
Note two: Crap I forgot
Yes it is quite obvious he is 15 if you talk to him.

I can't believe it's been that long.

Okay Ill post this.
I have 4 maps right now. I'm working with FTWbroadcasting, but that project dosnt have much to work on right now.
My existing maps will never get popular, so I see no reason to improve them.
So.... What should i do?
Huh, Gorandor is 50 years? Reminds of Wolverabid, the 40 year old hive mod, who left hive in disgust because of other mod's actions... Ah but nevermind that now, that was years ago. @grenegg: Go
You can dance
@SouLCarveRR: Go
Good Idea, got to work on my dancing zealot squad, forgot about that part.
Actually, I KNOW! I'll make a video for my maps!
Wait. How do I do that?
probably fraps, that might be best.
Grenegg is probably posting here because of me :(

I think when I started my first maps in age of empires I was about 10 or so, I don't get why this thread exists btw.
Well Im probably talented....
And I can send a polite email...
But I don't think what I post here makes anybody Impressed by my age group.
