I find blizzard has been doing more work towards starcraft than before. They seem to release more patches even the campaign that had some bugs for years are now repaired. I think its due to change in personnel and its showing. If u asked me that question before i would say: no... but now im leaning towards: maybe.
Hound, for the love of everything holy can you please not spam pictures in threads. It is so annoying and counter-productive!!! You got good things to say when I can understand them, but the pictures take away from your arguments, suggestions, ideas.
I think they've had 6 years of opportunities to listen to suggestions here and elsewhere to improve upon the Arcade. It wasn't until patch 3.0 we saw any real changes for the better which is good for those of us still around, but probably too little too late to make the Arcade a major custom game outlet anymore. On the plus side, now they're being more frequent with updates these days, like Samsara pointed out. I don't think we have any impact on their design decisions, nor do I really think anyone else does when it comes to the Arcade, but I have hope it will continue to be improved.
Just gotta ask yourself if you do this because it's still fun, or if you want the biggest audience regardless of the game. There's nothing wrong with either option. I could make MOBA videos and grow my channel more effectively, but I don't because I still like playing Starcraft. I wouldn't blame people that move on though - I wish the folks that do nothing but rag on those of us who stay here trying to foster our little community would just leave already.
We have a community, it's not dead, and it can grow. Realistically, it will not be growing at exponential proportions but it can still grow a little bit now and a little bit later and a little bit further down the road.
Visit my channel where I showcase custom content! Send me a PM or respond to my YouTube thread if you'd like to see your map/s on my channel (eventually!)
Personally i see only those few lucky people getting attention that are somehow tied together and always help each other out. The rest is mainly ignored. I don't know how it works.
For example I have my project for a while. It started out quiet ambitious now I reduced it only to consist of Warcraft 1 and Warcraft 2 remake. I asked for support many times and rarely i had decent team/help. Also the topic i created is almost a wasteland. I'm kinda sad because I planned it to be a cool, nice looking, full remake like WAA is achieving now with Warcraft 3. I just updated the topic with the teaser of the new map two hour ago, guess won't be any respond again...

Yeah i'm on hive too, indeed there are a bit more activity there. Thou hive people are more interested in warcraft 2 modding than sc2 projects.
I've returned to the editor after years of inactivity and the place looks active enough to get responses to help threads, cause if that stopped, it would be bad (even though I am answering myself)

Thanks for reminding me Jay. I make custom content before in many games, such as Spellforce, Dragon Age, Skyrim even the sims because I love it. SC2mapster is a great place to share everyone's CC. As long as the download counter on everyone's project page still up and running already shows that people still love playing Starcraft. They may not make comment or give feedback but they've been here.
That (IMO) is already a tremendous achievement on its own.
I see new content showing up in the Assets section all the time. We talk about all things Blizzard when there is news, not just Starcraft. Even the bots aren't dominating the "Active Forum Threads" selection anymore! (well, at least not every single day)
I'd say we could do a lot worse.
Those who are still active are great people who can help solve a lot of issues with the editor.
I've had quite a few issues with the UI and Layout, and you guys replied to my topics very fast.
For this and many, many other solved issues I can proudly say: You guys rock!
Is not dead, maybe is the season also the content that Blizzard has been putting out there helps to do less posts. I my self have been busy with live and new teams super busy also trying another engine has kept me out but i do check at least every 2 days. Jaybiorino im always checking his videos and Danzel too when ever i have a moment of peace. It is true that I have fix some of my maps and mods just to find that this patch or the next has broken something. It is extremely frustrating. Been able to keep up with that is just a marathon i dont seen to win. Maybe none of us will win, against Blizzard breaking something that took us months to make.
Hey. I believe mapster is as much alive / dead as it has been since 2011. (SC2 was released around september 2010)
I am getting quite stable 10 downloads per day at the moment for my campaign so definately custom campaign scene is not "big" or "booming" at the moment. For me personally I am happy for every single download or comment what I get from people :) What comes to custom campaign scene I have seen only improvements. My guess is that people are more experinced with editor and it has become slightly easier to excecute ideas.
Add Team Antioch to the "not dead" camp. Remastered is still getting a solid number of downloads (over 2k now!) and while we've been quiet, we are definitely still hard at work on Thoughts in Chaos. We'll hopefully have a newsletter update for you soon.

OT. are u still working on the remastered or is the whole energy directed at episode 3?
Well i thought there are always some bugs to fix or make the difficulty more balanced. There is always something to improve at least thats the way i see it.
I am working on two extremely large projects, one of which is my own and is private. I wouldn't say mapster was ever really alive, though. Not compared to the communities I was a part of during 2001-2014. But that's a big, complicated subject.

Domper are you at the Hive too? I feel like your project would interest them a lot!

My projects : The Hammer of Dawn, Noir : Automata, Noir : Evolution, Noir : Ascension, Hammer of Dawn Revamp
Many awesome projects : Custom Campaign Initiative
Something for the community : A Small Letter of Thanks, SC2mapster Classic Skin - Alevice
Yeah ever since jayborino came along its been really feeling like there is a good solid community.
Mass Recall is at 600,000 downloads so there is still interest for sure!!
Domper you got to get your maps onto Jayborino's stream!!
sadly this place never did even 10% as well as the hiveworkshop back in the day... really sad tbh

There will be a few updates to Remastered when we release Episode 3, but it's not really our focus. Why do you ask?

Yeah, there's aways more work to do. It's just a question of what's worth doing, and when.
