Well, I would like to know the expectations of you of the Blizz18, I personally, most of you already know that I hope XD, but I would like to know, what would you like.
I may be wrong, but I think we can see something interesting this year! Any new campaign? , Mod's?
- New Campaign/Expansion for StarCraft 2, with the UED as the new enemy.
- New RTS game from Blizzard is announced.
- UED or Umojan Commander for SC2, with lots of robotic units/drones, or, alternatively, a Mecha Zerg Commander (Why not Lio Travsky from the comics?)
- New Warchest Skins for SC2: UED Terran, Great War Zerg, Dark Templar Protoss. Building and Console skins for all previous War Chests for people who bought them.
What I think we'll receive:
- Zeratul or Iszha as a Co-Op character (I'm betting on Zeratul)
- New SC2 Skins: Great War (SC1) Zerg, Dark Templar Protoss, Kel-Morian Terran, UED Terran or Infested Terran. Building and/or console skins a possibility, but only for this new War Chest.
Hi everyone. Sorry I've been away for so long, but college's been way on my back since, and you know, priorities.
Myself, as long as we get something more than another Co-Op commander or map, compared to last year, I'm game. BC 2017 focused way more on WoW and Overwatch than all it's other products. Here's hoping, on realistic terms, for an Alarak DLC campaign.
I do not know, I am against the DLC and Lootbox, so on those issues I do not like to comment, I personally prefer a campaing, well made with attractiveness and that does not have to wait a year, to finish nine missions.
I would like Blizzard to open the doors to this world of Sc2editor, more publicity of the Arcade mode and the editor, support for modding, as Valve does, which is amazing all the resources they provide to users.
That includes the Wizard for the editor, added this option for them, without assistance or anything by BLizzard, nobody knows this great tool.
Updating Art tools Import / export, there are so many things and very few or none will ever be seen XD
I for one, would wish we could already transfer animation bases from one unit model to another without needing the painstaking process of doing it outside, via Blender/3ds Max. Still, I wouldn't expect much, if Blizzard does go the trend they did last year, especially given rumors Blizzard's planning some major Diablo announcements this Con.
Respectfully, I think there is a common theme in all those ideas and that they are coop heroes because you would focus on that alone? A campaign is a story, as can be a movie or a book, which means having nine quests of a hero that you have already played with him in previous installments.
In the case of Nova she only appeared in two or three missions of WoL and wanted to give a little prominence, but the other characters?
Personally I like new stories and stories with content, not a Warfield story which I know will die soon, or Zeratul that has almost its own DLC within the campaigns.
I prefer to pay in my case 40 or 50 € for a good story like WoL, HotS or Void, to pay for playing in installments and not only that, but to play with reused things and on having to pay for them again.
Likewise, thinking about what Blizzard is going to do or can do is an endless story.
Sadly, though, that might be about all that's left for the SC2 devs in the future. Coop itself is running out of mission ideas and commanders, unless they go on with non-canon ones like it was the case with Tychus, but even that buys but a few months of oxygen. Multiplayer will simply go with small fixes and balance changes from this point onward.
DLC campaigns, on the other hand, are a breath of fresh air if you know how to work with them, especially IF they help establish terrain for possibly Starcraft III. Nova Covert Ops was a good example of that, as we know Nova's gone rogue, so one of the themes to be exploited is Nova being put back into action to help the Dominion when stakes kick in, in the future. Much like the Infinity War case, if enough terrain is prepared, there's plenty enough to enjoy the conflict alone and move the story forward without needing to call back to the past, and that's where DLCs can help shine.
That was also the strongest point of both the Evolution novel and the Shadow Wars comics, concerning Za'gara and her troubles with both Abathur and Niadra, as we can also expect a possible Zerg civil war, and we all know how that affects everyone else.
Shadow Wars for me would be the best option, given that Terrans, Zerg and Protoss are involved, release expansions in which Aliens are involved as protagonists, it is somewhat difficult, given that the company has to find a middle ground between the tastes of the followers of the saga, both for those who do not know. I think it's hard to decide. , but Shadow Wars I think it's a very good idea.
I certainly would like another DLC campaign, but I'm thinking they'll be a co-op commander and not much else. Probably some stuff for multiplayer, but I don't care as much about that :P
They will probably announce the coop ranking system they have been talking about at Gamescom (and several other occasions). I am also hoping for a new DLC or an entirely new RTS, but that's sadly highly unlikely.
Regarding the Diablo rumors my money is on a D2 or maybe even 1 remaster. It would make sense for them to continue with the remastering of their classics.
The remaster I'd like to see personally is of course WC3 as it is the uncontested RTS king. ...but Blizzard won't do that since the scope of the game is way larger than SCI's (waaaayyy more different assets), it's artstyle would be very hard to recapture in HD and lastly since it would "undermine the WOW playerbase" or some bulls***.
Sorry if I ranted a bit too much at the end but I want more WC even more than I want Doomguy in Smash. ;-)
Are you distinguishing between Nova campaign that came out in pieces vs the others where the whole campaign was up front? I do prefer the whole campaign up front, but I'll take what I can get.
Well, all the others are also about close to 45min-1 hour, who knows? A lot can be announced or not, I guess we'll just have to see.
As a player, I'd also prefer the whole thing upfront, but if you take it from a commercial POV, fragmenting things like Blizz did with NCO can work if you do it right, and the campaign proved it - it had the plot, the necessary cliffhangers and interesting assets to upkeep player interest, so people were incentived to buy it rather than being forced. The difference between an expansion, a good DLC, a bad DLC, a lootbox and a waste of money really is what you get for paying for it.
I've seen a LOT of "DLCs" where it was just character skins and clothing, right before Battlefront II's lootboxes became the last straw for the gamer base, but the worthy ones, like Cold, Cold Heart for Batman: Arkham Origins, these feel like being DESERVING of being called actual DLCs. An expansion, on the other hand, is something more like Brood War or Beyond the Dark Portal for WCII, where they added A LOT of things, back then.
"A DLC delivers more of what we already have while an expansion builds on that to add something entirely new." BKP 2018
OK, Back to the real discussion: Thirty minutes can be a long time (more time than needed to introduce new balance changes or something anyways). It makes me hope that they will show some sort of trailer for a new "thing" . I mean looking back, that's how it started with Nova as well. They just showed the trailer and only gave us very little Infos to fuel the hype.
If you're right, I'm wrong in that, as content Nova's DLC was good but not as an expansion (for my taste) and what I personally do not like at all is having to wait 6 months for 3 missions, it's just what I want to transmit XD.
After all, a DLC and a new Campaign within SC2 is the same.
Yep. I think it was a big mistake of Blizzard to release the mission packs seperately because after such a long wait they kinda felt like letdowns (ESPECIALLY pack 3).
Also -as said by Alley- waiting 6 months to play about 5 hours of content feels a bit excessive.
Yes, I exceeded myself, you are right, I have the ugly habit of exaggerating things. I do not remember if it was 6 months between one and the other "I think" what I wanted to express was too much time between one and the other. As for three missions, the rest, we must also say the good things, a lot of civil details were incorporated into Sc2 that many have served us for our projects. although today, I still do not understand why the "Nova" maps are encrypted.

Yes, I would also like to see a Warcraft with quality.
Regarding the units and buildings of Sc1 that we do not currently have, I would also like to see.
Personally, I expect something big, no more war chest (at the moment)

/edit In fact, I got kind of insulted enough, last year I've even opened up a thread concerning ideas for future DLC campaigns on blizz's forums itself. https://us.battle.net/forums/en/sc2/topic/20759526025#post-1

Only 30 minutes of Sc2 , I doubt that in 30 min show something interesting and something that is really great.
So disappointed as every year.
I could be quite wrong, but 30 minutes ...
Then they will wonder why ...
I'm glad I did not pay for the Blizz ticket.
PD: I just saw him again and it's forty five minutes
