I really want my characters to be able to press a button which brings up the map. or if you press a certain unit or enter a building (getting loaded into) brings up the minimap. I guess it's both triggers and Data. Anyone know a good tutorial or can be patient and maybe write how to do it?
I would say you need a custom UI layout that has four invisible frames onto which the minimap is anchored and then move these frames using an Anchor animation. You then need to hookup the layout using triggers and use Dialog Item Send Animation Event actions to trigger the expansion and shrinking of the minimap. The rest is all triggers.
