should zeratul have been the protagonist? that would've changed up the story a lot but I was expecting a zertaul story. Nobody knew anything bout artsy Artanis before this game and the lotv story seemed a bit like an anime plot especially the epilogue, even tho it worked.
Nevermind ghat, at least selendis had some minor roles in prior games, dunno bout hots but definitely wol. I mean in the Utter Darkness mission zeratul was the one unifiying the Protoss not artanis so it didn't make sense to me at first
Eh was just havin fun with my words there. I meant that we knew nothing about Artanis before LotV. It was like Urun and Mohandar - all they had were names.
I think he had a role in SC/BW but as for WoL and HotS he was pretty much forgotten if he made any appearance in the original games.

No. Zeratul ranting about prophecies, crystals and the end of days for an entire campaign would have been painful and cringeworthy. He's an assassin and adventurer that's been gone for 4 years. Artanis is the politician and he's more suited to unifying factions.

Well, Artanis must've done something during the first game . Can't remember what it is, I assume something important to get him appointed as Heirarch.
But yes, I was expecting someone like Zeratul or even Selendis to be main protossgonist
[see what I did there ? lol, no ? ... ok ...]
Zeratul uncover the Hybrids project and uncover Amon [whisper of oblivion].
I was about 90% sure that Zeratul would be the main for LoTV, to see him get killed of was heart breaking.
I actually stop playing for a week when that happened.
But in some twisted way, seems Zeratul's death was Necessary to make Artanis tries everything in his power to stop Amon.
Even as far as waking the ultimate forbidden weapon, the Purifiers.

Zeratul was too weak of a character in SC2 for him to hold up a game.
