Stranded on Krydon Renewed- A renewed version of Stranded on Krydon that is being constantly updated, has improved visuals, is more friendly to new players, lots more fun tweaks and much more planned to come.
I am really glad to see the new site. Losing the brutal load times is such a boon. I really appreciate that Curse brought us here, and I don't want that to get lost in my commentary. I should mention that I'm a web development professional, for whatever that's worth. I'm wiling to work on the CSS for you pro bono, since I'm going to make a custom stylesheet for myself in the next day or so anyway. I'd do markup work, too, but that's probably more complicated.
First, I'm going to join the choir on readability issues.
I'm not entirely sure it's the color scheme. It's not unmanageable, and while I would prefer something a little gentler, it's livable. If I could change one thing, it would be the link color, which has the biggest contrast issue for me.
I actually think a lot of the complaints about contrast are rooted in character size and line length. The latter, of course, would be addressed by the former. I haven't picked the CSS apart yet a ton, but I'd say that 16px (a fairly common base) would be a much better font size in general. I also think you should constrain the maximum width of the posts—they top out at 1000px, but that creates really long lines that are hard to read.
Next, I have serious complaints about the front page.
First, it hides the content really far down the page. In fact, the news posts are the very last thing. That's a really ineffective content strategy. I am glad to see popular content on the front page, but I'd like to recommend reviewing the algorithm a bit, because right now it's highlighting multiple abandoned projects. Hopefully that's something the mods can maintain in the future?
Second, the "For Authors" section is egregious. There's no way that should be the first thing a visitor to this site sees—it's going to be a massive turnoff for people that come to see the maps. If you must include this section—and its benefits are rather unclear, honestly—then please put it somewhere else.
A small point, but on desktop widths, you could solve a lot of issues by making the sections 50% width instead of 100%.
Finally, I've lost my mod privileges, whenever you get around to it.
Hey FlameGoat, haven't seen you around personally but thanks for taking the time and creating this topic for feedback. I get that this site is just one piece of a much bigger puzzle but for a lot of us it's home. I like the new setup for the most part but here are the glaring problems:
1. White on white background. This is the brightest site I've ever seen. Can we at least make the margins light gray? This would be incredibly easy for the developer to implement. Even better, let us pick the color dynamically.
2. Guess my avatar is gone. Spent a good amount of time photoshopping it together. Is there any way to recover it? Would have been nice to have some warning so I could have saved it. I really liked that thing. Guess I'll use this robot chick now.
3. The front page showcases information in a, uhh, less than perfect manner. The big, main Call To Action is to get people to start a project. We should be showcasing maps and projects instead.
4. Also the default map segregation is "popular" (not recent) which is basically assuring that it will never change for the rest of the history of this site.
5. Why cut off the News section at the bottom? Why not just have it longer at the end, if its the last thing on the page anyway? It's tough to even read it. I think the news section should be higher (personal opinion) but the way it is now you can't tell what the projects even are. The old news section had picture and you could even integrate videos. This only gives us 2 cut off sentences. Definitely took a big step back here.
6. The order of information on the front page is all out of wack. When you come to a site, you should see the most important/most popular things first (ie, the news, then maybe trending maps/projects/assets, then forum discussion). The top section of the front page, the most important and visible chunk of content on the site, reads "Starcraft II: StarCraft II is a real-time strategy video game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment." Ok, I'm pretty sure anyone coming to this site already knows that. This section looks like it was thrown together without much thought or design.
7. The second section on the front page is the "For Authors" thing that pushes the rewards program. But when you click it to learn more, it takes you to a wall of text user agreement that nobody will ever bother to read. In the 4th paragraph down it tell you how to actually earn "rewards": (1) submitting Add-Ons; (2) participating in testing new features or applications available through the Sites; (3) moderating Sites forums; or (4) engaging in other activities for which points may be earned.
Ok... what are "add-ons?" What does any of this mean in plain English? I get that you guys want to get more people involved in this program but it is advertised horrendously and with zero business acumen... plus it's taking up very valuable front page real estate.

Overall I'm happy to see the site get a face lift and my complaints are only based on my first time reaction. But thanks for listening and I'm interested to see where we go from here.
Does anyone know how to embed a youtube video in this new-fangled forum thing? The embed thing apparently doesn't recognize the youtube link, the youtu.be share link, or the youtube embed link.
Also there is (well not that I know of) anything that tells you if you have replied to someone else's comment. Also how to I give reputation now?

Stranded on Krydon Renewed- A renewed version of Stranded on Krydon that is being constantly updated, has improved visuals, is more friendly to new players, lots more fun tweaks and much more planned to come.
Is missing and I had some very good suggestions! Spent time writing out some key features that would help developers find testers, increasing activity etc. Please let me know if you read them.
A lot of these things have been addressed already, but I figure more people would prove how big of an issue the selected thing is.
First of all, the color change is a bit much. It might be because when you're used to something dark, and then suddenly make it such a drastic change, it can be hard to get used to. I would recommend making it just slightly darker, because it does hurt your eyes after a while. White is not a good reading background for a lot of people.
The way the front page shows information is pretty confusing. Firstly, the news section is at the bottom now, which I believe, should always be on the top. Another thing I noticed is recently updated threads and ongoing projects is gone. (Or - I might not be able to find it. Correct me if I'm wrong). Checking the site to check out which new threads have been created or what has been updated, was something that personally made me visit quite often.
It seems some pages have been lost. Within my map, I had 2 pages, but now I only have one, and the link I provided to it on my Map Page is now linked to that one (which it wasn't before).
These are the main things I noticed that I had issues with. Haven't explored the site enough yet to know a ton more. But overall, I think a lot of this is merely something that you have to give time to acclimate yourself with before it becomes much better.

StarCraft II: Annihilation Campaign - A 24 mission single-player campaign featuring unique heroes, custom tracks, boss battles, a varied set of mission scenarios and three intersecting storylines.
Oh wow, it's unfathomable, but I can now view my own post history. And other peoples post history. And even ignoring and stalking folks is suddenly a possibility :0 GJ curse guys!
EDIT: IT even has notifications when someone posted in the thread you posted. Amazing.
This said, it appears that my PM box got emptied, a shame, some useful things/discussions may have been lost :\
And, do we no longer have a "Preview Post" option when posting? (previewing embedded images/videos)
The front page has now become entirely useless for me. I mean, I'm an arcade mapper, I host my projects on bnet, I visit mapster for forum activity/community. If I were an an arcade mapper that has never been to mapster before and I saw that front page - my first impression would be "well this looks scammy - "give us your projects (which is an entirely redundant/obsolete method of distribution as far as the arcade goes) for PayPal/Steam/Amazon money! Register today for bonus offer and get started right away!"".
It probably works for campaign/custom assets guys tho, since they've been forever neglected by blizz, so the front-page might not be entirely out of sense.
Removal of latest 5 posts and community events (especially now since we just started a community oriented thing) is extremely unfortunate. That panel was great at helping to keep track of what's going on, being able to drop in and see what's up. This way I might never get to be exposed to things I care little about but could have taken notice of due to their luck of being in latest posts panel at the appropriate time. A huge hit for ease of navigation.

Is this the price we have to pay for salvation against the spambots? :'|
Please keep in mind that it's been less than 24 hours since the new forum/website went online. Back in the day when I would try my hand at installing my own forum software on a server, it would look just like this as well, default layout and all.
They had to carry over the database and establish the new system. Stuff like that never goes easy.
Also, it's like three days til Christmas. Cut them some slack guys. Not everything will be fixed within the remainder of 2016.
If LucidIguana is working on a Stylish template to address the color scheme issue, and most of the bugs like the search bar not working get addressed, I can live with it.
Things like the front page will probably take longer, but Rome wasn't built in a day either.
PS: That Pacman loading symbol is the best thing ever!
Yes dr super evil (and other moderators) needs his moderator status back.

Just as you say that we like the old and have a difficult time adjusting; it is equally true that once a team puts effort into creating something (the new website), it is very hard for them to justify changing it because they didn't plan well enough the first time (possibly the case in hand).
This "migration" of yours...The biggest bullshit ever guys...I want back the old mapster :c
what exactly was the 'Old Mapster' ? I'd like you to point it out so people can agree or not. for me, i really don't see a change, except the annoying white and the steam offer for authors that sounds like a scam to me

Apparently you can "thank users" but I guess that's a function that is not working as well.
Paste isn't working either, and hyperlink text colour is a very tiny change, if someone links a url like this you can easily skip over it.
I may get used to the layout, but the functionality is disappointing me right now.
