Speed is amazing! Much better formatting capabilities.
However - Would like better color schemas or have the option for a user to change the overall colors, including, perhaps, the ability to revert to a similar color set as the original. Also needs better separation between posts, tables, content sets, etc. Everything seems too open without any boarders.
Next Project: Warcraft: Origins Reforged (A Warcraft 1 and 2 remaster in the upcoming Blizzard Warcraft 3: Reforged engine featuring both classic and enhanced features.) - Blizzard Page
Thanks for the effort on this report. It had interesting aspects, like FTB (which I played a long time ago) being also hosted by Curse. Most of it sadly is beyond me, so I can't really comment a lot. Sorry about that.
I didn't read the whole thread. My position is, that I am glad they have migrated to a new infrastructure, it may not be perfect, but it also means it gets attention. If it gets attention, it is not getting shut down, which is the worst that could happen for me.
@all
I don't use a whole lot of mapster functionality. What I do use is searching old posts and tutorials. My mapster usage is basicly: put on some music, use the fav'd link to the forum or tutorials (skipping the front page) and start searching whatever I am searching for. Sometimes I also take a look if some interesting topic is being discussed, but then I also go to the forum dirrectly.
I also like to ramble sometimes.
So, since this actually a feedback thread, here is something you guys may want to take a look on:
I recently searched, if there was a topic discussing the attachment of beams to a missile. So my search is: "beam attach missile"
I seem to be getting a lot of results which seemed irrelevant, but here comes the funny thing: near the end of the second results page, I get a topic named: "attaching a beam to a missile".
This should have been the first hit I think. As it so happens this result contains a link to an older post, which has an example map attached, with exactly what I was looking for.
So my feedback would be two-fold:
a) can someone take a look on the search-algorithm? The default settings seem to be a little counter-intuitive. I am not saying what is happening is not smart, it probably is in some way, but it should not be the default.
b) Luckily I downloaded the map file, before the migration. Now I am getting a 404. That would actually really be a loss to mapster, if all those old attachments were broken. So are the "assets of evil" for example.
b2) taking a brief look on the post interface, I can't work out how to attach a map like this for the posteriority either.
I can somewhat relate to this sentiment, but unfortunately we don't have any plans to change this currently. I did read that someone was working on a script or plugin, and that might be something we "unofficially" point to for now. This is a much larger job than most understand - we're not a small site by any means and things that "seem" trivial, just aren't. That's not to say we won't ever revisit this, but we want to focus more on big picture features, fixes, and just getting things running smooth long before we approach the visuals. Sorry!
I'm a visual guy, and for me there is nothing more important than things looking.. well, at least not eye-hurting, so yes, quit shoving this into the 'unimportant' section :/
and get rid of the steam auther 'scam' on the front page
I say the general chat and off topic forums need to be next to each other. Wiki discussion could be merged into news since it has such low traffic. The map review and feedback could be combined with a sub forum for the map requests. There is no need for an introduction forum because what is on the main page should be sufficient and each individual forum usually has a sticky thread giving an introduction to the forum.
In the second section I would put the map showcase on top because that is what casual viewers will be most interested in followed by team recruitment and then the project workplace. The HOTS and WC3 forums could be merged and moved to the bottom of section 3.
The third section should keep all the forums but maybe rearrange the order so the least popular ones are at the bottom.
Section 4 should stay the same except the project workplace being moved to section 2.

Anyone with an SC2 master account can modify the wiki. It is a work in progress and many pages are currently placeholders waiting for someone to fill them. A wiki is not a one man show and needs everyone to help.

Will the mods be able to change/add any permalinks on the front page? I's nice to see it dynamically pick Mass Recall, though I think it would make the most sense to link to the Custom Campaign Initiate permanently from the front page, as well as any maps that have been recently active/most popular. The old Recently Active forum threads was quite nice as well if it's possible to get this re-added.
EDIT: And by popular projects I mean ones we can fiddle with - some of the popular projects like the old Rebel Yell campaign are deprecated and just confuse and take up space when new folks coming in to browse should just be directed to Mass Recall instead. Bottom line question is if any of the mods will have access to manually change some things like this to improve the overall browsing experience, particularly with newcomers.
Visit my channel where I showcase custom content! Send me a PM or respond to my YouTube thread if you'd like to see your map/s on my channel (eventually!)
Hopefully? It's unclear right now what will be able to adjust. I know that Curse is looking at the popular project issue right now, so hopefully we can just get our hands in there.
What happened to the "Recent updated thread" esction? Where i can see threads with that got the latest posts? Is it still here? If not i hope it will come back

You can subscribe to forums/threads and see updates in your notifications so that acts as a "recent thread" thing.
The hyperlink is NOT colored differently from the other text. I didn't even know you could click on it till i hovered my cursor over it and it changed. This would probably be an important update even it is was simply changed font or something to Highlight links when you post. When i am typing this in the reply box i shows that link ^^ as a light orange'ish color to separate it from the other text like this. Going to hit Post Reply and see if it reverts to the same color text as this and edit to inform you.
I've read through and I do see a lot of duplicates and common complaints, ideas, suggestions, etc. So I think I'm going to opt for potentially locking this thread, compiling what we have into a proper bugs list/known issues list for us to keep track of things.
We're not back in the office yet, so I still have a lot to do before flying back to Cali.
@QueenGambit: The point of this odd picture is to show Mrflamegoat that us SC2mapster equally values the Starcraft 2 game, the Project page, the Forum page and the Galaxy Editor. The SC2mapster forums is not a "last resort" resource website but rather a vital link in the chain of programs opened while developing. If you see a SC2mapster user with duel monitors. I can guarentee that their setup is this: 1 monitor will have the SC2 game and Galaxy Editor while the 2nd monitor will have full screened the forums.
This is so true.
About Us - it will redirect you to a stickies news thread that describes the website's objective. Its like writing a prospectus for an essay. We will also display our basic forum rules here. Finally, we will display a list of moderators the news module will display
Would be nice to have a list of active members for reference, like: Terrainers, Data, Triggers, etc. So a list of all the moderators and then members that wants to be there as a reference if someone need help through PMs.
LiveStreams - an optional experimental feature where we would create a Twitch webpage and designate SC2mapsters to stream their development work, playing Starcraft 2 Arcade, or other games.
I would love to stream while I do terraining, but this is such a small audience that no one would watch me except if a stream like mine would be linked to a website where people can see live streams going on about the editor and whatnot. Streams could also become tutorials or be specefic help with people to try to do stuff. I would watch people do stuff in the editor for sure.
So recap list of ideas:
A mapster based chatbox
Streaming capabilities
Forum re-organisation / simplification / merging (but before pressing the Go button, making sure people agree with the upcoming changes)
A selection Quote like on b.net forums (instead of always quoting the whole post and removing the unrelated parts)
A big ongoing wiki update to sort what is still up to date and reorganise (could apply a couple mapster members to such big task)
A list with moderators, admins and reference members for terrain, data, trigger, etc.
Pastebin moved to somewhere more related, not in the main navigation bar
Recent post/threads tool / page
More search results per page and/or with partial text explication of what can be found in these threads (like google...and like how it was in the old mapster)
There are probably other stuff that we can all think of now and then when we come across, but that's what I think about so far, along with all other ideas posted before like the theme color we spoke so much about.
I think we need to first address the glaring errors, rearrange the poorly designed home page and restore the features that were inexplicably removed before we start compiling a "wouldn't it be cool if" wish list.
It's very likely that only a select few changes/updates will be made from this point (how many YEARS did it take to get to this update?), so it's important that we prioritize the most important things and don't try to tell FlameGoat to do 100 small, unweighted preferential changes. If FlameGoat delivers some long laundry list to whatever developer is managing all these Curse sites, it's highly probably he'll just pick the easiest tweaks and fixes, do those, and then expect us to be happy for another 6 years.
So FlameGoat, before you lock this topic or whatever, let's make sure we have a clear vision of THE MOST IMPORTANT changes, things we all uniformly agree need to be changed (like the front page layout), and don't just tally long list of every user's recommendations.
"A big ongoing wiki update to sort what is still up to date and reorganise (could apply a couple mapster members to such big task)"
Considering we failed over three years to transfer all the data from the legacy wiki (still an ongoing process)... I have been slowly working on it but so far me and fishy77 are the only people adding stuff. If you have an SC2 mapster account, you can log into the wiki and also help.

I'll definitly consider adding my 2 cent... actually probably more. When I get some time to do so. Would you mind sharing a little bit of what's missing and what could I do to improve, simplify and whatnot in the wiki? That could help getting a start point from which to continue on. I did not in the past post much tutorial, but I always wanted to give my help for whatever I can.
Any chance for a "dark mode" or something like it, all this white is searing my retinas.
That said I like the direction that this change has taken, but it all changed so quick and stuff has been removed like teams and reputation, not to mention all the formatting changes in any old forum posts. I'm not even sure how to re-access any team pages.
