There's an excellent party game (for horrible people) I was recently introduced to, that I believe might work well if ported as a custom map. The problem though, is that it's rated (+17) contains a lot of content that has great potential to be deemed offensive. This includes content that could be considered lewd, anti-religious, anti-political, disturbing or downright derogatory. Unfortunately, these elements contribute greatly to the entertainment value of this game.
IMHO, without them the games potential for a good laugh drops tremendously (It becomes boring). The target audience for this game is mature audiences with an open mind.
I was thinking of an opening dialog with a warning of sorts on what lies ahead, but I hardly think this would be enough. In the worst case, I could filter out the content, but I hardly feel there is a point as the game would not be as fun anymore.
All in all, I would like to call out for advice: How might it be possible to launch such a map without having to filter out the aforementioned content?
Assuming there is no way it would work without getting slapped by the ban-hammer, How could I make this game work without the aforementioned content?
It sounds greatly like you are answering your own question there. If you are that certain it would get the ban hammer with the content it includes, but the game is useless without the content, kind of pointless to even continue thinking about it.
However, if you are determined to make something like that, aren't there like 5 or 6 devs answering questions now? Why not ask them about it, one of them might even know the game you are talking about. Going to need to upgrade your sc2pod achievement at this rate Fuzzy, lol :)

Lol, fortunately I haven't started on it yet. So I guess it doesn't count? :P Its called "Cards against humanity", which has generally favorable reception. But there's no telling what kind of demographic has been playing and reviewing the game. For all I know, it could be comprised entirely of open minded people, which would mean the statistics are bias. All it takes is one conservative or easily offended person, and the report map button is just a click away.
PS: Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. It might be possible to make it work without the said content, but it will take more effort.
If the game isn't fun without some symbolic stuff (no matter, how fun he stuff itself), if its gameplay isn't enertaining, it doesn't matter will or will not this game be released, ppl won't play it.
But on the other hand, it's always fun and useful to provoke the society by the content which can 'hurt' some conservative and close-minded members. I think it will be enough to have a little "this map contains ... and ..., don't play if you don' like it" note on the loading screen, and if this map will be banned, then it will prove that whoever decided to ban it is stupid and unfair. But still it worth it as an experiment, because there will be ppl like this: "what? map contains crap I don't like? ok, I will play it and then complain loudly, because the mapmaker insulted me by his evil will". God, I love when ppl act like this. And it may provide some pleasure if the complaint will be declined like this: "hey, you was told not to play if you don't like, so if you played, it's only your stupidness, nothing else".
Having offensive material will get the banhammer. I think you need to find a way to make it fun without potentially offending others in the process. Perhaps you can use some of the positives from the game and focus on making a new type of game using some of the previous games strengths.
