When you say 'make a 1v1 melee map for me', do you mean you have a specific setting/lay-out in mind or could it literally be any 1v1 map (assuming it's balanced)?
Also - if you don't want to give payment until you have 'verified it is of quality', what guarantee is there that you'll pay? For all we know you'll just say "this isn't the quality I want" and proceed to use the map anyway. Wouldn't a 50/50 style thing (with the half paid when the map's nearing completion or such) be fairer?
For people that are interested it would also be helpful if you told us what exactly this is for. That would tell us how long would you want average games be? Do you want a balanced map that you might see on the ladder? or something completely ridiculous where players spawn basically in the same base? Will this be for a competitive setting, or just something to play with friends? What aesthetics are you a fan of, in terms of a colorful Jungle, bright desert, or a blue and grey city? The deadline is also kind of curious. If I was interested in doing this for you, I wouldn't have enough information to go off of, I know when I have made a terrain for a game, I was getting constant feedback from the person receiving the map and talking with them over skype or mumble to get the best result possible that they had wanted and more.
Don't take any offence to our questions (and I don't expect you to answer any personal questions on a public forum), it is just a very vague request from someone whom we have never seen before in the community, we don't know if we will ever hear from you again after this thread, I was very skeptical reading your short post. Some clarification would be appreciated before I personally would consider spending the time to make a polished 1v1 melle map for you, but you have come to the best place to get what you are asking for.
Care to even mention what rate that you'll be paying, if any? If you want the best, expect to be making a proper investment even if its not money-wise.

a simple 1v1 melee map can be literately anything... Even the size of the map has to be known. a 255x255 map is a lot different than a 64x64 map, do remember this web site is full of map makers so we know our stuff pretty good. I am currently busy with a few other things but you need to provide about a mountain of information to create something out of nothing.
Map needs to be made to my design specifications. As in yes, I have a layout in mind and a design aesthetics Id like. The map is for use in tournaments and practice by my clan (www.teamataraxia.com). Needs to be competitive balanced. Perhaps you guys should EMAIL ME like I requested!
I was planning on paying a flat rate of 50-60 USD depending how good you are. If you dont think Ill pay you, dont bother then. This is for the clan I run, I have no intention of scamming anyone, im worried that I myself will get scammed. You're saying "how do you we know you wont just take the map and run and use it anyways", well if I pay 50/50 how do I have any guarantee you wont take my money and run and I get nothing. Since im the one with the money, we do it my way or not at all, ive already had a few offers of people who are OK with that.
I can make you best 1v1 map with effects , i know a lot of tricks. Just tell me which textures should i use (For exemple xel temple or jungle)
and how big should be. I'm really interested. YOu have to tell me a design detaisl, and i can a play with some cool effects , and make your map live and balanced. I have idea for it, just need detaisl and 3 days. If you wanna really pro design :)
For as little as $50, I am unsure how you could have a problem doing 50/50 with someone reputable on this forum. Look at post count and reputation. People who have been around a while are pretty trustworthy. For something professional, from a professional, they will be lucky to make 3 dollars an hour working on your map. Then that whole pay grade is based on your personal opinion. What if it is made to spec, and you decide you dont like it, or want something major changed? The payment should not be based on a dozen over-time changes that are likely to come up; where a mapper is likely to never see their money, but be strung along forever.
Look through the forum at the... HUNDREDS of paid work offerings. People always need to know what you are looking for before they will care to commit even to an email. Do you think someone is going to steal your idea? and... create it for free? Give any detail you would give in an email here.
Any serious mapper who takes up such a project for such a low price is doing it because they enjoy mapping, the money is just a bonus. Keep that in mind when you go through credentials.

You'd need to provide a lot more information than what you currently have. Also, 12 days is a very tight timeframe.
I can make you a good and polished map in 2-3 days. You just need to tell me what you have in mind
