Good ideas but the chances of Blizz implementing any of it is almost 0%. Blizz just wants to move away from SC ones LotV comes out it will be just like W3. Move on and never look back.
i dont know about you but i need a very good reason to buy LotV (and Hots) and if the bnet + arcade doesn't change i dont' see any. i also think bnet 2.0 will be in place for some time and maybe even wc4 will use it. it's in their interest to make it succeed. i also think tray is there for a reason and they might not understand our problems or it's too much work to gather since it's spread all over (that's why i made this topic).
also Heroes will most likely use bnet 2.0 and also the same editor.... they just HAVE TO fix things,i really believe in that.
i would really hope for a real discussion based on arguments to understand decisions and to make things clear why we want those things and why we think it would improve things.
Heroes' bnet files indicate that we will be able to have groups of authors for a map called "clusters" -> maps could be passed along to new authors, multiple persons able to update the map, etc. (The only way they can potentially f*ck that up would be not allowing author additions to that cluster after it has been created or cluster author additions breaking bank signatures.)
Nobody suggested it here as I've seen, but I'm sure you would have imagined it. Other than that, this thread contains a lot of good stuff and even radical changes I like (for example: hiding star ratings).
Not a good idea as that would turn the lobby into a huge advertisement billboard like it is in WC3. I want to play StarCraft II games and not try to be convinced to buy X product or join clan Y.
Quote:
•let us disable ratings for alpha testing or even add a modus for maps (development stage, no rating possible yet)
Ratings should be over last 1-2 months maybe? That would purge old obsolete ratings that no longer reflect the state of the map.
Quote:
•make all your models available for modding, (create mods with wow models, diablo models etc), move these mods to all new games with an editor
Not directly possible due to differences in model mechanics and formats. Would require considerable work on Blizzard's side that they might not be able to devote resources to.
Quote:
•make the launcher faster than starting the editor, press test document, leave game, login
It is as fast? The editor way might seem faster at starting the game but chances are that is due to the editor already having loaded some of the data into the system file cache. A lot of the load time for the game process is fetching all the ".dll" files that the executable links to which are scattered around the windows system.
Quote:
•give me TRD clan tag for europe :( ( i might understand if they would decline this one)
Makes you sound so serious... A better request would be for Diablo III style clan system where multiple clans can use the same abbreviation.
Quote:
•let us kick pending players (or greatly lower the duration to decline if some1 is not responding)
Or make it so that players cannot invite players marked as "away" which occurs without mouse movement for an extended period. Additionally limit the number of invitations a player can send per unit time to something reasonable.
Quote:
•fix latency of bnet 2.0 in general
Not Blizzard's problem mostly. They do not control the internet.
Quote:
•allow more than 1 review after lots of patches or a fixed time
Already implemented? You can change your review at any time no matter the age of it.
Quote:
•allow the launcher to download arcade maps
Outside the scope of the launcher. It is designed to launch Blizzard games and not specifically just StarCraft II.
I will like to see Blizz actually talking about mapmakers not just Team Liquid golden melee maps! Right now http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/18053399?utm_content=external-sso&utm_medium=other&utm_source=App This talk about and only about Team Liquid mapmakers nothing else.
This is just an example of one more time Blizz not even talking about what appends here on SC2mapster like the site dosent even exist or the arcade world is not even there as an option.
The question is not what we will like to change but how to actually make Blizz people aware that we are here and we will like this or that. So how, how can Blizz recognized the ugly child that never gets seen but works to make the game better and keep those players that cant make it to the ladder championships be heard and help us!
I just feel left out as a mapster but not just for me but for all of us. We bring and keep players playing day in day out with our maps. Why is Blizz giving us the cold shoulder?!

I think I heard same thing when people were defending absence of chats. We can report players/maps, we should be able to report lobby names too. Starter editions shouldn't have naming priveledges anyway. There are many ways to go about this, and if issue arrises it's nothing that can't be solved with some joined thinking effort.

Some ratings/reviews are viable years after they were made. Another thing is if rates were to expire then I'm pretty sure most maps would eventually have <100 rates. Ghost town.
I'm not sure about point ratings at all tbh. I bet there is a reason they are dropped by websites like youtube or eurogamer >_>.
EDIT: All Blizz needs to do in this area is to make the survey look super easy and quick to finish (like asking for a rating only) and timestamping it. From the player point of view they get to impart their judgement and influence in a super easy way.
Skype does a thing like that with its video calls and it's annoying. I don't think blizz would go out of their way to make players annoyed by arcade game surveys.

Sometimes I wonder how Traysent feels every time he reads what's going on around here. To be fair, melee guys have this blizz sponsored TeamLiquid contest, but we also had same thing with RoC. Also I was under impression that majority of melee maps get completely shafted cause you really need to be on ladder to be played and good luck with that, so they have it even worse than us.
Point is - don't worry, blizz neglects everyone equally in their own way :3
They are probably gonna award those portraits to all sorts of contest winners, including featured arcade maps.
I just feel left out as a mapster but not just for me but for all of us. We bring and keep players playing day in day out with our maps. Why is Blizz giving us the cold shoulder?!

I have to say that Blizz have been talking about Airstrike for some time and the spotligh but it just wasent happening so when Blizz last email said it was today well i didn't believe it. My skype was going crazy and my facebook fan page was waking me a 3:46am telling me about this interview on Blizzard. I know what I say and cant take it back. I did the best that I could at the moment that I know how to. But tomorrow is a different day more art and better art to come. This is the Blizz link ......

You forgot Picture in picture on your list (aka, working RTT texture rendering for dialogs etc.)
Still alive and kicking, just busy.
My guide to the trigger editor (still a work in progress)
Maybe let's make tracker and post it, because like 80% of wishes here are bullshit. With some up/down votes we could expose best features.

Except most people are lazy. It is hard enough getting them to write reviews in the first place let alone every few months.
that's an editor feature, i only wanted to gather arcade / bnet features here

You got props on the SC2 site for Airstrike!! Rut even drops Mapster in the interview!!
I think they should do away with their dead forums for the editor and just redirect everyone here.

Still some things I wish for the editor are: Ability to make new team colours and decals WITHOUT overriding the old ones.
