The Arcade alpha testing was lonely; at least now more people will be on battlenet.
(Or everyone will be so busy working on their own projects that it will continue to be a ghost-town, complete with tumbleweeds and crotchety ol' coot affixed to a squealing rocker.)
Ahh, that's too bad :( I hate seeing things go to waste. I guess I'll give it a try just to see what it's all about. I hope I have time between work, wife and two kids lol
The email is titled "Welcome to the StarCraft II Arcade Beta" and the patch version reads "1.5.0.21571 Beta", so I'm gonna go ahead and call it a beta.
Nothing in the email indicated to me that they would have any live lobbies, once again proving they still don't have a clue why players don't like it. Looks more like they want it to be like an app market. Which would be fine if the games didn't rely on a lobby full of players in real time.

Has anyone from outside the NA server got a invite?
And it's a bit sad that they are still refusing to even indulge us on the Live lobbies, I mean I hate to point it out but DOTA and all the spin off s(of which they are making one) only exist because of live lobbies.
But keep us posted.

I really want to share the patch email. Unsure if I can. Take my word for it that there's some awesome changes and some even more awesome additions.
Doubt it'd be for long with D3 around the corner.
The Arcade alpha ran for about 2 and a half weeks, which was surprisingly long. So yeah, the beta will probably last a few days.
Hey guys, I got an invite for this as well, but I don't see myself making use of it as I haven't touched SC2 in a long time.
So I will send the invite to the first person to email me at: EDIT REMOVED
Please put the follow in the subject line: "SC2Mapster Invite Request" Also, please include your SC2Mapster username in the body of the email.
I was also invited to the Diablo 3 beta, so maybe this invite has to do with the same "opt in" that I did for the D3 beta?
EDIT - Invite sent to Zelda who was the first to respond. Must have been like 5 seconds after I posted O_o
It's still described as alpha. I imagine beta will come with the hots beta.
It's tied to your account.
@ZarafFaraz: Go
sent ya an email but I'm fairly sure that it won't work.... I think they add it directly to your account ;)
edit- According to Mr. Eiviyn above that I'm correct there :I

EDIT: Oh, you received a different email. Haha.
Everything looks nicer but it doesn't make me want to play custom games still. :/
I recorded a video but haven't uploaded the file. I can't find any info about NDA... I emailed them to check.
OneTwo, your incantation has released the prime evils! The world is forfeit.
Which is to say certain people on certain forums are certainly going to launch into tirades now that the first shot has been fired.
@JademusSreg:
Lol well let's hope everyone is constructive. I just thought they were adding a 'currently hosted' lobby system...

Exactly my sentiments for the last 2 years.
So are they trying to implement that whole thing where you can "sell" maps like apps on an App Store?
@ZarafFaraz:
Not yet.
I got the Map Arcade Beta invite too this morning.
Yeah, I also got an invitation. But no time to test it, I have tons of homework to do now =/
No, it's not legally binding.
Well, it increases the script limit...
Anyway, I got in and can confirm it's an improvement. Not like that's a difficult task or anything, but it's better.
